I am playing WotLK beta now, I am at level 76 with my feral druid and at 75 I replaced my Staff of the Forest Lord with the new quest reward, Staff of the Sorrowful Chieftain http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=41987#comments about which I thought was freakin awesome for a blue 3 man quest reward.

But this... This is god damn awesome! Beyond any feral Burning Crusade wet dream! Where does this baby drop? Naxxramas?... I don't know that yet but sure as hell this is one MONSTER of a staff. And I bet there will be even more things like this. And even better.

Just look at it! 630 armor, 89 agility, more than 2600 AP considering Survival of the Fittest talent. And 135 stamina. How awesome can this thing be? I am overwhelmed.

Blizzard sure loves feral druids :)

PS: Right now, at level 76, I am standing at 4150 AP. I have the 4 T6 bonus and my rips do about 1000-1050 DMG per tick. I used Savage Roar just to see how sick that is. And I was absolutely blasted away to see my AP had jumped to over 7000 (because trinkets, neck and ring from exalted Hyjal procced before using SR). There I was drooling at 1400+ DMG per tick from rips. Considering the fact that at lvl 79 or 80 (I don't remember exactly) there will be a new Rip rank, I am thinking what it would be like to have this staff equipped and equivalent items... 10000 AP after Savage Roar? How damn insane does that sound? 2000+ DMG per rip ticks?... OMFG...

It is intended to be our entry level tanking staff, another feral staff dropped off KT on beta that is more DPS orientated than this. Remember we only really have four tanking stats in WotLK. Expertise, Stamina, Armour and Agility/Dodge. This covers three of the four. Defense is no longer needed due to the SotF change. So this is pretty much what our tanking weapons are going to look like from now on.

Armour will be removed from all feral druid staves..http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=12065155975&sid=2000 .It will be interesting to see what stats they will add to compensate.

Druids don't only ever need one item.

Thats like trying to say a warrior should use just one weapon for tanking and dpsing. It doesn't work either way.

Staff of Trickery is probably better for DPS, even though you get less crit chance, but Plague Beast is better for tanking because it has (only slightly) more stam, has armour on it and more agil (more dodge).

I couldn't agree more, they need to buff this item compared to Trickery.

I just got this thing last night, and it's replacing my Enraged Feral Staff as my tanking weapon...I also have Staff of Trickery for my DPS weapon.

So regardless I've got decent weapons lol, but the harder to get one should be better!

Actually, according to EJ spreadsheet, this staff is not an upgrade for a SV hunter (not to speak about the other two specs) if you already have Ebon Blade exalted 2H sword. If I have the "possibility" to roll for a staff and have and arguement with a druid, I would rather roll for staff that drops off Kel'Thuzad, clearly a best-in-slot item a hunter can possibly have

i just got this weapon last night (no druids in raid) on my hunter i lost some crit but actually gained some ap from what i had (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41815) but i agree with ppl saying this is a druid weapon not a hunter weapon but its a good weapon too none the less

The catch is while its an awesome stat stick for hunters, its best in slot for druids by a long shot, with them utilizing the full weapon. It'd be like a rogue calling on the gun from KT over a hunter... bad form.

Compared to the Staff of Trickery, this staff is nothing special. Times changed and druids don't get ridiculous bonuses from armor anymore. The armor on this staff would be best used by a druid in cat form, but the high stamina makes it more of a pvp weapon. This would be a nice pvp weapon for a hunter too, so they should both be allowed to roll on it.

This dropped in Naxx last night when I was on my Tank-specced Druid. My main is a Survival Hunter, so I can kind of understand why the only other hunter in the group rolled against me for it, as it is a nice stat stick. But seriously guys, there are SO MANY MORE stat sticks in Naxx that are better for Hunters, the armor+stamina on this makes it BiS for your furry friend at this level, and most Feral tanks at this level are still using the Staff of Feral Furies. Please let the Druids have this and save your DKP for other items which are much better suited to Hunters anyway:

(And for the record, no, I'm not bitter. The raid leader saw my reasoning, over-rode the Hunter's bid, and gave the staff to me even though she rolled higher.)

For transmog purposes: This staff does not become black in shadowform. It will gain the transparency effect, however.
