This trinket has a proc uptime of 12% for a fire mage. Would expect similar uptime for most other DPS casters.

I have both this and Egg of Mortal Essence.

I am confirming that they DO NOT share a cooldown, and both can proc at the same time.

This is insane on my Paladin when they both proc.

Currently this trinket doesn't just proc from spells, I am getting the procs from crafting, entering instances and so on. I'm sure they will be looking at this trinket because of that.

Just got this trinket last night. From what I've seen of it so far, I'm pretty impressed with it. A very nice haste bonus and a good proc rate. I haven't crunched the numbers on it yet, but I'd say it procs on almost every pull. The 45 second cooldown seems to be fairly accurate.

To give you all some numbers (since people understand numbers) here are the calculations of what this averages out to:

505 Haste Rating * 10 Seconds Active / (45s internal CD + 10s active) = 91.8 Haste Rating

OR

If you account for the fact that you prolly aren't going to proc this immediately after the CD is up but on an average of 15 seconds (the math on that is a different story just trust that its accurate)

505 Haste Rating * 10 Seconds Active / (45s internal CD + 10s active + 15s average) = 72.1 Haste Rating

Treat this however you want. I'll treat it as 98 Spell Power and 72.1 Haste Rating which is pretty good.

Just confirming that the The Egg of Mortal Essence and the Embrace of the Spider do stack and do not share a cooldown. I purchased the Egg of Mortal Essence on a monday night and on tuesday ran 10 man naxx and got this trinket off Gulth soo i rolled and won it, i mainly wanted it for when i go elemental on my shaman, witch i am usually resto for raids. So i later that night i was in Dalaran and popped em both on spammed some healing waves and Boom!... Both proced for second and i had over 1340 haste. This was for only a second but i had 20 seconds solid of +505 Haste witch is amazing.

Also about the random procs that it triggers off of. I also had it proc on a zone in to an instance but that is the honorless kill buff u get and as far as getting procs off cooking and this and that.. as Oathmaker stated above they are all considered spells by the game mechanics. So there is no "bug" to this trinket.
Anyway i am loving this trinket and will keep them both equipped unless i need a better mp5 trinket for certain fights in 25 man naxx.

This trinket do NOT share cooldown with any of the emblem trinkets and it can proc on all spells so its a really good trinket for healers & casters.

This trinket has 10% proc chance and gives 505 haste rating (15.40% @lvl80)

It can also proc on zoning and creating things, such as Netherweave Bandage

yeah this really does proc off everything... I made 150 bolts of frostweave last night during a high lag time and it proc'd constantly off them. Also proc'd when I made a magnificent flying carpet.

Currently my mage has the trinket from 25-man OS and this, though I'm 97 hit below cap so may switch out one of them (the OS trinket is being nerfed from 26sp down to 18 so maybe that one will go) for a +hit trinket.

blizzard was trying to normalize magic and healing dps back right before WoTLK came out.

In doing so, they screwed a lot of caster dps. and i am talking mainly warlocks and mages.

it really grinds me how as a mage or a lock i can't roll on ups for me because it has mp5 on the item, or even as a mage, items like this that have ZERO spirit on them.

it's obvious that blizzard intended these for caster dps, just look at the egg of mortal essence.

what gets me even more is druids and shamans rolling on cloth upgrades my mage could use.

i would say blizzard needs to fix their game, but i doubt they give a rat's behind

I would say to let a dps have it, for these reasons.

This is a great trinket for both caster dps and healers, however this rarely drops, and some guilds might go weeks without seeing it. A healer has the option of getting an identical trinket just by farming 25 quick emblems of heroism, which can be done fast and there is no chance or luck involved. However, for most caster dps the healing trinket will not work for them, however this one will. So this is rare and hard to get for a dps caster, however if a healer really wanted it, they can just farm heroics or even get enough emblems from the heroic they are currently in.

Healers don't be greedy retards, get the egg of mortal essence. Casters need this, there are very few good trinkets for us. Sundial is garbage compared to this, and egg only procs off healing spells. Leave this to casters, end of story.

people defending healers need to seriously get a grip on the concept that some classes get a lot more out of some items, even if it may be 'good' for others.

Balance druid
Having a bit of trouble deciding on trinkets, I got this today to replace my - I considered sundial the exiled to be on average 100 sp and 84 crit, so trading it for this would essentually be swopping crit for haste... However I now realise this means eclipse prots less frequently... so i am less sure whether it is atualy better.

My other trinket is which is why I am not just using both. I also have but I no noger use it because it makes me 75 over hit cap and using it just for the effect wouldn't be as good as just using or ...

Anyway... back to the point, is this trinket better than for a balance druid

I'm sure this post will get downrated, but look at the trinket list. Sort by ilevel and pick out all the healer exclusive and caster dps exclusive trinkets. You'll be surprised how few our options really are compared to healers.

Ok let's do that for end game trinkets

So, before the patch, there were 4 exclusive for each group (though one of the healer ones is pretty worthless for pally healers), and after the patch there are 2 more for people in a dps role. Also, more were added that both groups could use. I will happily apologize if I missed something, but the carping about healers having better options just does not seem to be true in my experience.

it does not proc from DoT dmg, only from casting them, so each time you cast, you have a chance to trigger this trinket, but the DoT ticks dont count in there.

I, a mage, just lost this to a holy pally. Holy pallies should NOT be allowed to roll on this over caster dps. That is selfish, because healers DO NOT benefit from random procs like dps. Responsible raid leaders should not allow holy pallies, or perhaps any healer to get this over caster dps.

I imagine this comment has been rated down by holy pallies... oh well...
