Personally I got these on my second run of H-UK. (The runs were 3 days apart) During the first run, they did indeed drop, however I lost them to a Ret Pally who had the Exalted Wyrmrest Accord pants, needless to say, I got kinda &*!@ed, I was wearing Savage Saronite Legplates at the time. But enough of my griefing, to get to the point, after winning these pants, I immediantly went to Orgrimmar and bought a 10 STR gem (10g) and a 16 Hit Rating gem. (112g) I socketed both and unlocked the bonus, giving these a total of:

93 Strength
118 Stamina
96 Hit Rating

These are a MUST for any DK, Pally, or Warrior planning on living out his WoW life as a DPS!

I believe these leggings offer the most +hit of any plate leggings ingame atm.

3 legplates comes close in terms of hit:
Legplates of the Oculus dropped by Varos Cloudstrider in The Oculus.
Riveted Abomination Leggings from Naxxramas heroic mode.
Belabored Legplates from Sartharion with 2 drakes up.

What make Staggering Legplates absolutely astonishing is the huge amount of hit and 2 sockets, which can be used with a huge range of gems to balance your current stats.
Prefarably for non-Jewel crafters with dps in mind:
Bold Scarlet Ruby (32 AP for retribution (36.8 AP with Divine Strengh) paladins, warriors and deathknights which scales with Kings for more bonus)
Precise Scarlet Ruby (If you need more expertise to be capped)
Rigid Autum's Glow (Make your pants a main source of +hit)
Smooth Autum's Glow ( If you need more crti)
Sovereign Twillight Opal 16 AP (18.4 AP with Divine Strengh) and 120 HP for retribution paladins, warriors and deathknights which scales with Kings for more bonus)
Balanced Twillight Opal (16 AP and 120 HP for retribution paladins, warriors and deathknights)
Guardian's Twillight Opal (If you need more expertise to be capped)
Shifting willight Opal (crit and dodge)
Jagged Forest Emerald

Im still clinging to these pants as they help me stay hitcapped when I get new dps plate without hitrating.
Raiding or not, you will eventually obtain many good items with a good mix of hitrating, crit and strenght, but until then these pants is a great way to maintain a healthy amount of hit and dps.

GL to all - they are indeed worth it.

i got these on my warrior a few days ago i put 20 atk power gem in then 16hit rateing and a kit with 75 atk power and 22 crit rateing. it took me 4 runs to get he dropped 2 epic rings 1 xbow and last run the leggs i like these leggs i was farming them.

7th best DPS DK legs in the game, the best pre-raid.

however, they are rated only slightly (3 DPS) better than legplates of bloody reprisal from wyrmrest exalted. they do seem more attractive as the have +hit instead of +arp and 2 sockets. more flexible if nothing else.

DW requires alot of hit. 80 hit and 2 sockets is a awesome.

Just got these last night (3/16/09)..... Still working on getting my hit rating up so it was a NICE drop!

Aramathis Armory

Did cause me to have to flirt with my defense rating though to stay over the 540 cap. Was using the daunting legplates (+88 def), which dropped me down to 520 upon removal. Had to re-gem my helm and throw +def 22 on my chest to get back above the cap. But these doubled my hit rating and got me over 24.8k health. Thus far, a great addition to my current, in progress, gear set.

hit rating isn't really a necessary stat for tanks. I'm not sure if you're a DK, Warrior, or Pally, but either way you're better off with higher mitigation.

Not necessary, but helpful. More hits means more damage, more threat, etc. However, Hit ranks behind Def. Rating, Stamina, Strength, Agility (for mitigation) and maybe even Expertise. I'd give these to the tank before I'd let them get Disenchanted, but as you say, they're not really tank pants.

I've always gotten a good chunk of my Def. Rating from my chest and leg armor, so it would have been hard to stay def-capped if I'd swapped my Special Issue Legplates out for these. Cyanigosa's Bolstered Legplates are indeed a far better tanking option, and also have a fair amount of Hit Rating.

14 23 runs, and I've seen the pants once. Of course, I lost the roll. I am so damn sick of this instance. I can tell you where every pull and pat is at, what the bosses say when you engage them, and what BOE zone drops come from here.

That being said, these pants have a huge amount of hit on them, which means I'll be able to drop some +hit items and replace them with crit. No one on my server runs Oculus, which means I can't get the blue pants from there.

QQ time over. I'm off to beat my head against a wall for a while.

EDIT: Finally got them after 23 runs. Once I finish my drunken revelry I'll post a screenshot of my loot addon.

Kinda strange that these drop in the easiest (at least one of the easiest) heroics in the game. Still stuck in them farming 25m Naxx.

I need to make a few changes to this guys post that apparently some of you didn't notice. While he does offer good advice on them being a main source of hit...All he really did was link gems and tell you inaccurate information about some of them.
For one, bold scarlet ruby is 38 ap for ret, not 32.
Also for some odd reason this guy thinks that 1 stam=2 hp.
He has 2 gems linked where he says its X(dps stat) and 24 hp, where it is 120 hp.

Regardless of UK being an easy heroic, these are one of the hardest DPS plate items to get. I think I've been outrolled at least 5 times for these.

Divine Strength talent. +15% Strength. Ret Paladins don't skip this talent, so it's assumed in stat counting.
16*1.15 = 18.4
18.4 Str = 36 AP. Not 32.

Additionally, he's also correct in that the (otherwise very helpful) post he quoted mistakenly values 1 stamina as yielding 2 hp. 1 stam = 10 hp, baseline (altered by any stamina boosting talents you might have, of course).

So actually, you're wrong about him being wrong.
