Block rating is avoidance, Block Value is mitigation. As Avoidance means u r avoiding getting hit, and mitigation means u r softening the amount u r being dealt, and Block Rating increases your CHANCE to block, while Block Value increases the AMOUNT blocked by your shield. By increasing the chance you are blocking, you are avoiding taking damage, so Block Rating is avoidance. When u do block it, By increasing the amount blocked you are taking less damage, so Block Value is mitigation.

Wrong. Block rating (and thus, blocking) is considered mitigation. To clarify - your garbled explanation isn't necessarily incorrect - however, for every boss that matters, there is no level of gear where a block will fully negate an attack - you'll still get hit for at least a few hundred damage, if not a few thousand. There's no point in considered a block as potentially avoiding an attack if the enemies you're gearing for and working towards won't ever have their attacks avoided by it - as such, we refer to block rating (and value) as mitigation.

The only time you should say a block is avoidance is if you use the term 'partial avoidance', but even that is unpopular and best avoided.

Heroic Nexus is a starting point for heroics, CoS is not.

I had an unfair advantage over fresh levelled toons as I was in Sunwell prior to Wrath, but I was in about 90% T6/T6.5 level gear (that i of the XP) by 2 mins (should note we had no idea what it was for at the time, or that there even was a timer untils, equivalent to 80ish blues) and had a pretty easy time in H-CoS. Missed the timer on our first day in there, made it on our first serious timed run attempt the next day. Nexus is barely easier, but if I knew a tank wasn't bad I'd have no qualms about taking them into H-CoS as their first heroic.
