I found the quest item in my bags while I was vendoring junk. It seems to have a way of sneaking in there on people, thus I have no idea how many Spellbinders I had to slay.

I can say, though, that since I did this in the first days of Wrath that I likely ONLY killed the spellbinders as I needed them for a quest. I wasn't exactly tripping over mobs since everyone was racing against the clock to get these quests done.

Perhaps it only drops off the binders while you're on the quest to kill them? I can't do any experimentation with this as my days of doing this quest are long since past.

If you are experiencing the problem of not getting one of these to drop after numerous kills, consider the likelihood that:

One already dropped and it's in your bag or bank (get an addon like TBag and actually search for it in your inventory using text).
You are on the next part of the quest, and you've received the Augmented Arcane Prison, which, as above, you should search for in your bag and bank.
If neither of the above are true, then you've completed the quest chain up to Springing the Trap, in which case you've turned in the Augmented Arcane Prison and you will have Raelorasz' Flare in your inventory. If so, go to the northwest entrance of the Nexus and use the item (at the beginning of the bridge, just where it starts).
You are killing the wrong mobs, you should be killing Coldarra Spellbinders.
In the haze of leveling to 80 in the first week of WotLK you didn't realize that you've completed the entire chain already, or lastly
You are extremely unlucky since this item should drop for you within about 3 kills, and you should petition a GM to see if they can change your luck...or help you find out which of the above 5 is actually true =)

Kill the Coldarra Spellbinders to get this.
They are the humans walking with the demon blue dogs.

Don't kill the Coldarra Spellweavers to get this.
They are the blue dragonkin caster mobs.

I was confused as I was killing mobs beginning with "Coldarra Spell" and it wasn't dropping for me.
Had to go back and read carefully.
Most of us scan these posts and read quickly.

Dropped for me first time off of the 'Coldarra Spellbinder'.

It's the humanoid and has a hound pet following it. It also creates two spheres if you don't kill it quickly enough.

well my prob is i'm starting to think that an item i deleted from my inventory a while bk is one of the items u need to start or continue the chain, i think that cuz i have been killing for a while and remembered that i did delete some sort of key a few weeks-months ago, any ideas of how to get any of those items bk to finish the chain?

As many people are still fleshing out their WotLK / Northrend content in this starting zone, or even trying to wrangle some 龍眠協調者 reputation, I felt this mini-guide would be extremely helpful to new and experienced players alike. It should be noted that the majority of these quests count towards 凍原一點都不冷 which also leads one towards . =^)

These quest series begin by discovering a 閃爍碎片 (right-click on this item in the player's bags), dropping from one of the 凜懼島縛法者s, which then starts the first quest chain .
*Player note: Do not confuse the 凜懼島縛法者s (humanoids) with 凜懼島織法者s (which are dragonkin)*

謎題... which after turning in to 瑞洛拉茲 at the Transitus Shield gives players...

囚籠 where you search for two other fragments of an arcane prison (監禁外殼 / 能量之核. Items acquired at this point become 增強的秘法監牢 upon turn-in.
*Player note: Both items are found only on the two blue dragon micro-bosses (天藍將軍 / 戰爭使者寇瑞卓克) in the center of the blue round magic circles outside of the 奧核之心 fissures.*

Here it appears this chain ends, but actually continues on in a 2nd chain. If you lose your 增強的秘法監牢 at any time, speak to 瑞洛拉茲 at the Transitus Shield for a free replacement.
*Player note: Just be certain that it wasn't placed in the bank during a side trip, as there aren't any banks within a large portion of this zone (including the Hold). If he doesn't automagically give you the option to replace it, try clicking the "What is the cause of this conflict?" to bring it up.*

Upon right-clicking 增強的秘法監牢, player then releases 凱瑞史卓莎 who then begs for assistance to confront 瑪里苟斯 by talking to her once the player is ready for the 奧核之心 raid zone.

凱瑞史卓莎 allows players to speak to her again to continue the chain.
*Player note: If she somehow gets lost or the player drops the quest, it is best advised to go just outside of the Shield and summon her for each next quest, as other locations sometimes quest error or are incorrect areas.*

誘餌與攻擊 has players collect 10 晶化法力裂片s (which are the pink crystal plants all over Coldarra) to make bait to beat his blue dragon guardian, 薩拉苟莎 human form / 薩拉苟莎 (dragon non-quest form). Pretty self-explanatory, just turn them in when done.

Once collected she calls for 薩拉苟莎的下場 and gives players a 秘法能量聚合體 with which to bait 薩拉苟莎 and drag back 薩拉苟莎的屍體 for another quest.
*Player note: When ready, talk to 凱瑞史卓莎 and she will teleport the player to 薩拉苟莎's platform up way above. Use the 秘法能量聚合體 to summon her and she'll arrive in dragon form then change to human form for the fight. When dead, call 凱瑞史卓莎 and turn in the quest, accept the next quest and stop talking to her. Speak to her again for a FREE teleport back down to the ground for the next turn-in.*

召集紅龍 is where she asks players to carry her to 瑞洛拉茲 back at Transitus Shield (in the Prison). Turn it in!

瑞洛拉茲 then wants players to start 發動陷阱 by using 瑞洛拉茲的燃信 to light a signal fire on some bundles of wood to the northwest of the Nexus at coords 25.5, 22.
*Player note still valid by user beachboy:
1. Open your map. Move your character so that the arrow representing your position is directly above the "N" and to the left of "The" in "The Nexus" on the map. The bundle of wood you have to light is outside, in the snow.
2. Light the bundle of wood using the item provided to you, 瑞洛拉茲的燃信.
3. Take your hands off your keyboard and mouse, sit back, and enjoy the show. After a few minutes of NPC dialog and a scene where you ride a dragon, you should complete the quest. You do not have to do ANYTHING.
4. Turn in the quest at Transitus Shield.*

Finally 瑞洛拉茲 asks the player to lay to rest the corrupted aspect of the 戰俘, 凱瑞史卓莎, which shows her as insane probably due to being forced to become 瑪里苟斯's new consort. Could also explain 凱瑞史卓莎的碎心
*Player note: Players will have to defeat all of the bosses in the 奧核之心 in order to be able to finally release 凱瑞史卓莎's corrupted aspect. Each boss is connected to one of the three click-able spheres to release her (大魔導師特雷斯翠=特雷斯翠的隔離之球 / 艾諾瑪路斯=艾諾瑪路斯的隔離之球 / 『塑樹者』歐爾莫洛克=歐爾莫洛克的隔離之球). Proven exception is the 部落指揮官 and 聯盟指揮官, which are trash bosses that can be skipped, though Heroic replacements 指揮官厚鬚 and 指揮官寇勒格 have blue gear loot.*

For anyone else on the Arcane Mage Legendary weapon quest chain who is confused why they can't turn this in - it's an old quest item and not related to the Legendary. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out why all the NPCs in Transitus Shield despawned when I got close and why it wouldn't let me turn the quest in...derp.
