Finally a little love for Beast Hunters. There won't be a great need for BoE Barrel-Blades after all; this along with the many new sources of haste rating in 2.4 will make hitting the 1:1 sweet spot fairly easy :) You can probably make use of at least 60 haste with this weapon and maybe a little more, depending on your reflexes and latency.

53 rating = 3.38% haste

2.8 / 1.20 = 2.33 / 1.15 = 2.02 / 1.034 = 1.95 Attack Speed (Wolfslayer is 1.96)

Plugged this guy into Cheeky's as a T5 Marks raiding Hunter with no haste rating using a 1:1.X shot rotation with Arcane and Multi. Saw a 60 DPS increase over Sunfury and similar over Serpent Spine Longbow. Plugged in a few of the T6 bows, namely Bristleblitz and BBotBetrayer and the only thing better than this bow is the legendary from Sunwell.

Changed things up and switched my spec and gear to accomodate a 41/20/0 BM build and tried out several weapons. BBLR and WSSR both provided excellent DPS however this bow still managed to trump them both even though it's much slower than the "optimal" speed.

Time to start saving Badges.

Keep in mind...I haven't done the full math on it yet, simply because I'm flat out to busy with school stuff and what have you.

But...I know recently I've been using Hawk as much as possible (because its simply more DPS), chugging fel mana pots, throwing up Viper when I really need, etc.

I noticed last night on Azgalor (maybe), that with Imp. Hawk proccing, and then ANY other haste effects, these being Bloodfury, Drums of Battle, what have you, I'm pushing the global cooldown, if not surpassing it.

And considering how much haste blizzard is in theory forcing down our throats in the Sunwell, I have a feeling that the extra .2 seconds will be a god send. Now granted, I could not pick up any haste in theory, but we need such little haste for it to get to the proverbial 'cap', and even if i just pick up 1 or 2 select pieces (which at this point is my plan), I'm still arriving to the GCD issue I previously said.

Yes, you can use instants, and gain DPS...but arcane shot and multi are huge mana sucks, so overall you MIGHT be losing DPS because of having to pop viper, not having mana, etc, and you're still missing a special every other shot.

And there are ways to avoid the GCD issue (popping Viper when BL is up, or drums, or what have you) but if the name of the game is do as much DPS as possible (Bruttalus, Reilquary of Souls) not only am I losing ANOTHER GCD to cast said aspect, and if you can afford to do it, Hawk is just the sex in aspect form.

Granted, for most people, they won't see the haste that I will in Sunwell, so it probably won't be as big of an issue for you. (Not trying to be condescending, just simply saying.)

But I'm going to refrain from jumping on this bandwagon until a.) it actually makes live in its current form and b.) there have been some numbers crunched with haste and this thing.

But yes, in cheeky's, with a 41/20 spec, its a dps upgrade from my 151's, and should remain so assuming that you don't add alot of of haste.

Just my 2 cents.

And not to mention the stats on it are just beautiful as well.

I am currently using the Ancient Amani Longbow while specced for BM. I use a Steady/Arcane/Auto rotation. According to Cheeky's Ancient Amani Longbow is better by 13dps if using the same rotation. I'm not experienced with Cheeky's spreadsheet so I might be reading it wrong so I wanted to come here and get some opinions. Any comments about the Ancient Amani Longbow vs this?

Yes, obviously this bow is awesome for BM Hunters, but I am an MM hunter (don't really mind if BM does higher dps). Would it be worth 150 badges changing from Sunfury bow to this? Or should i go for the badge chest item, since i have a crappy s1 gladiator chest?

I'm not sure which would increase my dps more. Hit rating is also something i'm lacking on.

Erm.. if this bow gets too fast with all your hastegear you simply switch some of it out and use that itembudget for agi/crit/hit/whatever. That's kinda half the reason it's so good for BM to start with.

The Blade of Harbingers or even Shivering felspine if you have a access to the sunwell will give the same base speed as the Wolfslayer (1,96) which is commonly agreed upon to be the ideal speed all things considered (you can go lower if your latency/fps/reactions allow ofc).

How would you guys compare this weapon to the S3 bow (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34529) for use in arena pvp? I'm thinking about replacing my S3 bow with this one considering the very nice speed.. although you are rarely able to stand undisturbed and shoot for longer periods of time when you are in the arena..

I'm currently BM specced, and plan to stay that way. Ofc the S3 bow has some stamina and resil, but I have plently of that, and surviving isn't really a big problem when I play.

What do you guys think?

It's also worth mentioning that this appears to be the best melee dps stat stick available, so long as you are willing to pay 150 badges. Rogues may be able to do a little better in some cases depending on exactly how they value certain stats, but it will at least be up there w/ the best choices.

this bow is really not that good for BM hunters, my dad has been saving up for this xbow since they released patch notes and has only just got it, be warned that everything bar your hit rating drops, he spent 400 gold on a scope thinking it would make life better but it didnt, personally i would stick with the wolfslayer sniper rifle its soo much better in terms of speed and stats

DPS Warriors:

For arms, if not hit capped, this crossbow is the best ranged stat item outside of the Golden Bow from Sunwell.

If hit capped, the Ancient Sin'dorei Longbow is superior.

The crossover point is aat roughly 5 rating below the hit cap. If 5 or more below, crossbow is better. If 4 or less, Sin'dorei is better.

get the slowest weapon possible wiht the higest top damage why ? haste accelarates slower weapons dps more

then when you have that slow weapon stack haste until you get 1,6 speed...

This X-bow is excellent for 1:1 rotation or 3:2 rotations as some have already mentioned. Although, it looks horrible! I would take it for my hunter no question about it. But I would slowly die a little more inside with every shot fired.

As a BM I can assure 2.8 attack speed on this crossbow is superb.
Not even mentioning it's stats plus a +28 crit scope.

Before getting it I was using a Steelhawk Crossbow. And I can assure you that I don't have any regrets or complaints.
In few words: Yes, it definitely worth 150 badges if you are using any kara ranged weapon.

I don't care if it is green, yellow or pink. It's efficient.

Excellent ranged weapon even for melee classes. The hit rating and crit are far higher than most ranged weapons melee class can use. 150 badges is a steep cost for just a melee weapon but it will definitely last a long time.

If you are a dwarf the best dps weapon for BM is the Barrel-Blade longrifle by a few dps that drops off doomwalker. Also not bad for a 1:1 SV rotation and who wouldent want 36 agility and 3 crit rating?

While this weapon is in many ways a masterpiece of a Hunter weapon, Bristleblitz Striker has more potential damage output. When combined with the 4p T6 set bonus and a little bit of haste gear (20-50 haste rating + Dragonspine Trophy), the BBS outperforms the CoRS.

Then take that concept of a 3.0 speed weapon outperforming a 2.8 speed weapon under certain conditions and apply it to the Golden Bow of Quel'Thalas. The GBoQT is the next direct raiding upgrade from the BBS, and if you stand a chance at obtaining the Golden Bow, then you will meet the requirements to maximize its damage potential.

I have been using this weapon for 2 months now, cant really say its a major upgrade for me for following reasons:

1. I use hand weaved shot rotation (I tried macro rotation on dr. boom and it really sucks tbh) and a gun or bow makes it easy for me in terms of not crippling my shot, i find this crossbow less easy to handle, no apparent reason other than practical experimentation. The graphics and sounds while shooting doesnt make me get into the shot rotation mood... Simple as that. I outdpsed myself with valanos longbow (which is 2.8 speed also) in Kara for a while lol

2. In 25 man raids, the chaotic environment makes it real hard to use the extra speed this bow gives, tbh, i am not sure if you can utilize the time between 1.93 and 2.00 with hand weaved rotation. As I said I out dps macro rotation anyway so its out of question.

I got a lot of haste gear now (140 without cloak of fiends) and am waiting for our guild to progress to MH (which is expected next month) to get Bristleblitz Striker. May even try Serpent Bow if we down Vashj again. I think the haste rating of 165 (with cloak of fiends) will bring BBS to my sweet spot of 2.00 which will make it really rock. Then there is the question of haste rating vs. armor penetration ofc. I can use my crossbow at 2.00 with a lot of armor penetration instead of haste rating. When I get BBS and some more armor penetration gear, I will make a comparison and decide then.

In the end, this bow does not meet my expectations in terms of use, dps or looks. I did not have a major dps increase over Tuskbreaker. Why choose a crossbow for unique range anyway? To make us go for end game bows I guess...

How does this compare with the Lady Vashj? Got both, got both scoped and I'm waaay over hit cap with either weap. I am leaning towards the Vashj bow because of the slower speed and higher Viper regen, although at a loss of 2.3 weap DPS.
