Also an obvious use of this would be in duels :D i rember a few months ago i challenged a orc warrior who was three lvls higher than me and i beat him with some help from this item, defintly use this sparingly, and really i wouldnt recomend it aginst NPCs unless you are about to die aginst a quest mob/instance boss or something along those lines because putting other players to sleep is just too fun.

A tip for low level Undeads is to use this item to crowd control the adds of quest bosses in the zone. For example, the Scarlet Friar at Captain Vachon.

I'm surprised no 1 has pointed this out. this item if farmed correctly in large amounts can make a hug advantige in the 19 twink bracket you see a player like a hunter and your melee put this on him and gives you a chance to get to him. Or use it to CC a player if you got 2 players on you. and yes drop rate sucks and its BoP.

This is the sort of thing I never use. Because WHAT IF I NEED IT LATER. And then if I do need it later I still don't use it because maybe EVEN LATER I will need it EVEN MORE. So it has been on my action bar for the last three years, along with my really sticky glue and my mechanical yeti.

OK, so eventually I did use one of my really sticky glues. On Illidan!

ages ago before boa trinkets were out and the one from STV was amaaazing for twinks (still is i guess but since the boa is easier to get i don't bother anymore... but anyway one day i was on my lvl 10 trying to get the stv arena chest and the only other person was a lvl 29 alliance. was thinking damn i dont stand a chance then i saw this in my bag. it put him to sleep and i opened the chest while he was helpless. /win
