If this works in cat form it kicks some arse... Finally time for our idols to shine:-) This will give you dodge like everybody said up here but have you thought about the extra crit?! If it has 85% proc chance than I could keep it up in cat all the time which means an extra 65+ AP and a whole latta crit (Don't have the formula althou I'm sure somebody here has it:-)

Tested on the PTR:
This relic does work in both Cat and Bear forms, with a very very high chance to proc on a Mangle hit.
I never saw the buff refresh itself while it was up, leading me to believe it currently has a 10-second hidden cooldown. This may or may not be intentional, since it is still in testing.

You can switch Weapons/Shield and anything that goes in your range slot(Idols included). Do note though, that switching your idols resets your swing timer.

Actually the math to calculate uptime on hidden cooldowns is pretty easy. Just calculate the average time it takes to proc when not on cooldown, add the cooldown time, and you get the time between procs. Divide the duration by the time between procs for up time.

Since the 10 second cooldown is most likely correct, we'll assume that is the cooldown. Now the time to proc: In bear form, assuming you mangle every six seconds consistently there will be 2 seconds of dead time after the duration expires with no chance to proc. Your chance to proc with each mangle is 85% (the proc chance) times your chance to hit with the mangle (h). The average number of mangles to get a proc, then, is the reciprocal of this - 1 / 0.85h. Since the first mangle happens 2 seconds after the ability expires and each successive one happens 6 seconds after that, the time it takes to make this many mangles is (1 / 0.85h - 1) * 6 + 2, or 6 / 0.85h - 4. The time between procs, then, is that plus 10 seconds: 6 / 0.85h + 6. The up time is the duration divided by that: 10 / (6 / 0.85h +6). Substitute in your hit rating and get your up time.

Of course if you don't mangle every six seconds on the dot (because of time outs in the fight and whatnot) the up time will change, but if there is consistency to how often you mangle, the caculations aren't hard to do,.

Dodge and Crit chance sound more promising than extra damage when im behind the target...
While tanking, you could combine the proc with Badge of Tenacity for some even more dodge.

don't forget shred also costs 2 talent points to drop the energy cost down to 42. So you get great damage every once in awhile for 42 energy AND 2 talent points. Once again, if one is solely playing pvp (assume that this player is stubborn and will not respec to resto) why not just get Idol of terror, spend the two talent points elsewhere and stop using shred? Maybe I'm being redundant... is not spending those 2 talent points to lower the cost of shred crazy?

The proc rate here may be listed on Wowhead as 85%, but I measured the actual proc rate for Mangle (Bear) to be 50%. That's still often enough for tanking to make this a great idol. If you Mangle every 6 seconds and the buff lasts 10 seconds, on average you'll have the buff 80% of the time. It can be streaky though; the damage you take will be uneven.

I measured by staying in level 70 bear form and attacking level 65-66 ogres in Nagrand. 80 Mangles yielded 38 Primal Instinct procs. To avoid cooldown issues I only used Mangle once on each mob, about once every 20-30 seconds. The cooldown is definitely shorter than 30 seconds; I saw it proc twice in 25 seconds several times.

Can anyone/has anyone confirmed the AP boost upon the idol proc'ing while in cat form?

If i'm not mistaken the 65 agi should yield 65 AP, 4.4% dodge (1.42% avoidance), 2.6% crit in CAT and in BEAR should exchange the AP for 364 (ish) armor

The procc from this idol is worth 2.68% crit and 74 attack power for a feral druid in cat form with 3/3 Survival of the Fittest and 5/5 Heart of the Wild.

since agillity is very usefull for druids(+armor,+dodge,+crit... and AP in Cat form) this idol is very good for tanking, cat dpsing, I use this eaven though I have an SWP geared feral, this is the best idol I got and costs only 20 badges, easy to farm if you're in a raiding guild, I say get this idol as fast as you can.

I use this for grinding/cat DPS (not much of a raider, just a little Kara here and there). Must say, it is incredible. Because I often use mangle early in every fight, and it has such a high % chance to proc, it is essentially a passive 65 agi in cat form. Very ncie.

A fast note on this idol in Wrath...

IT ROCKS!

Borrowing some ideas from our friendly moonkin brothers and sisters I decided to try this out with a switching macro and it works. You can equip this idol to mangle and keep the 75 agility for 10 seconds then switch to Idol of the Ravenous Beast for shredding. That makes this idol very viable even today.

Sad that this is still the best tanking idol in the game. Would be nice to see an epic tanking idol available from emblems of heroism. The only Feral idol is the Idol of the Ravenous Beast, which really wasn't worth the emblems. The only reason I got it was for the Superior achievement. Blizz, hook us druid tanks up with a idol that's as good as this was in BC, and well, STILL IS AWESOME!

If you are after this idol, and cannot get yourself a lvl 70 HC group. Solo the bosses in ramparts.
You can steatlh past the trash and the last 2 bosses are easy to solo. If you can manage to solo the first one aswel, thats only 7 days of doing it and you have the idol... Slow but, if you can't get a group its proberly the fastest way. UB and SP HC proberly are soloable aswel..

Here is what ive done over all soloing including raid bosses... full 25 man nax gear, 4-5 tier 7.5, 213 items cept... essence of goss and... belt from H UK
Raids: lv. 60 raid bosses, and one from kara
Kara: Autuman (or w/e) for horse, BRING potions and flasks... he hits hard
Aq20- First boss, gonna go solo the rest eventually
MC-fire salamander dude, gaar, living bomb dude, malghanis? big lizard green though, and a couple others...
ZG: All bosses except hakkar (havent gotten a good enough attempt with my full 213 gear...) have raptor mount, trying too get my tiger mount, no luck so far...
Onyxia's layer: Onyxia and all adds

Heroics Burning Crusade: Heroic 70 instances
Heroic Sethekk Halls: All bosses including anzu :) i got my Raven lord mount from
him soloing him 2 months straight
Heroic Mana tombs: lol.... i havent tried full 213 gear... so i gotta go attempt first boss again :O
Heroic Auchanei Crypts: All of it, first boss i could solo the normal one at 70, 80 i kicked the face out of the first boss
Heroic Shadow Labs: all bosses but last... hes nearly impossible too solo but havent tried him full 213 gear with flasks and pots though :)
Heroic Steamvaults: Yikes.... 1st boss=biggest pain in the world... almost as bad as anzu if your not a druid tank.... ive seen ret palis, warrior tanks, healers, everything try too solo it, druids are the only ones that can solo it, this being i let them try with opening the stone and laughed at them while i sold a heroic anzu run
Heroic UnderBog: Soloed all but last 2 bosses, got tired that night... and already had achievement...
Heroic Slave Pens: (lobster is a pain IN THE REAR) gotta heal and use pots and such...

Heroic Arcatraz: First boss (pain) 2nd boss... hard as everything but able dancing lady... than fire guy as well 1,2,3rd bosses last boss=very very hard
Heroic Botanica: All bosses, 3rd boss trash is hard, pull one group at a time
Heroic Mechanar: Soloed all bosses, tried too get my warrior his sword :P and chest piece, 2nd boss=you need too be geared, last boss is evil, if your running your alt through, he mind controls you as the big 80 and smokes the alt :P
Heroic Magisters terrrace: Only up too 3rd boss, ive gotten 3/5 killed best attempt this is when i was not full 213, with half 213 and half 200 like the all these other soloes...
Heroic Black Moras: Last boss wooped my face, very hard, and long but doable, got him finally
Heroic Escape from durnholde?: Sumbraro guy (have hat) 1st and 2nd boss, last boss i could not solo with half and half gear

Normals: All of them including Slabs, Magisters terrace, Black moras, durnholde, and 60 ones as well including dire maul brd, ubrs and so on

Mobs: About every quest mob in the game including lv. 80 ones like chillmaw

Ill get back too you guys after i try full 213 gear cept this idol of course and the belt from uk (cant find anybetter...) (no ulduar gear for tank set, only dps set)
This idol all and all has saved me many many many times, it procs and im about too die gives me that extra dodge or 2 and saves me
