Using the script at http://tc.awenet.com/index.php, for my mage one point of haste is equal to 1.20 equivalent damage. What that means is that this mantle has 40+(33*1.20) = 79.6 damage on it, which blows away the illidari shoulderpads found in SSC (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30079). I didn't think they were all that great when I picked them up but after some theorycrafting I plan to use these for boss fights.

Easily the best shoulders for fire mages before T5 (assuming hit cap), and comparable to the FSW shoulders for frost mages. Definitely go for this one if you have the opportunity.

Strangely my mantle has changed color from the blue shown in the screenshot here to a sort of maroonish color. What's up with that? Great gear though!

For shadow priests:

A rough rule of thumb to use is as follows:

At 1000 damage, 1 haste = 0.6 damage.
At 1200 damage, 1 haste = 0.8 damage.
At 1400 damage, 1 haste = 1 damage.
At 1600 damage, 1 haste = 1.2 damage.
At 1800 damage, 1 haste = 1.4 damage.

Depending on the rest of your gear, the haste on these could add up to alot.

For shadow priests, the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21869 are still superior at any level of spell damage currently achievable in the game (including 2.4 content). For those shadow priests not pursuing tailoring (which is nuts given that the FSW set will last you till T6) though, these are the best in the game until MH/BT
