This item is dropped by the Headless Horseman who is summonable at the Pumpkin Shrine located in the middle of the Forlorn Cloister, in the graveyard wing of Scarlet Monastery.

You can summon him if someone in your party or raid has the Call the Headless Horseman quest available from the Pumpkin Shrine. The quest counts toward the daily quest limit. You will receive a Dreary Candle with the quest, right clicking the Loosely Turned Soil--behind the Pumpkin Shrine--will start the scripted event.

Everytime you kill the Headless Horseman, there's a broom to roll on his corpse. However, the quality is still random, which means that you can either get the +60% ground mount or the +280% flying mount.
At the moment, we still don't know how droprates affect the possibilities to loot the flying ones.

Also note that the quest which allows you to launch this event is daily. If you've achieved 10 daily quests, you CAN'T make the Headless Horseman spawn (but you still can attend the event with your group, and claim for loots).

You cannot sell them on the auction house as it counts as a conjured item. But sell them in trade instead, that works fine!

Can someone confirm that this item will only expire once the duration finishes? Some of my friends say that once the event ends, the brooms will expire, even if there are still days left on the timer.

If not, then it should be possible to gain multiple brooms, and mail them to an alt that you won't play on, since the duration counter only ticks while you're logged on. So you could sorta store them on a mule, and mail them to your other characters as you want to use one. It'd just be stuck with you once you finally used it and made it soulbound.

So it'd be nice to know if the event's end means the items will go away. I recall my Children's Day whistle lasting after a several month account freeze...so it seems like it'd work.

Be careful when using a flying broom because it will not fly in rain so if you fly into a zone where it is raining you will get dismounted. I learned this the hard way =(

Bad News for broom owners

According to the Patch 2.3.2 PTR Patch Notes Broom timers will be changed from played time, to Real Time. So no matter what, you'll lose your broom in 14 days when it goes live.

i have had a broom saved up on my bank alt for the past 8months or so and am only using now. there is an awesome bug that if you dismount while in the air, the broom disappears but you are still 'mounted'. as such you now FLY around (swimming) through the air at 280% speed! then when you land you move at 100% speed (permanent sprint graphic!)

I found this mount to be the best one ever... too bad it's only seasonal. It's an 'insta-cast mount' which you can equip even while falling down in mid air. My favorite move is equipping it while riding fast with my land mount which just send you up, up, and away... great for world pvp.

This item has been replaced by a broom that adjusts to the situation and your character's training level. If you have epic flight training, it'll be 280% flight speed in Outland (Northrend) and 100% ground speed in Azeroth. If you have normal flight training, it's only 60% flight speed, but 100% ground speed.

Either way, you only need one mount on your toolbar for 14 days. Pretty fun.

If you can get the Headless Horseman's mount, it's the same mechanic, but it's permanent. One mount for all occasions!

This totally rocks. By an amazingly fortunate coincidence (since the broom is now BoP) I had this sitting in the mailbox of my hunter alt who just turned 60. It does indeed give a level 60 with 150 riding skill the ability to fly at 280% speed in Outlands. As I write this, I am currently flying around earning the Explore Outlands and Tricks and Treats of Outlands achievements.

Going to be so sad when it goes away in 14 days, but should have my normal epic flyer by then, I hope.

Ive had an idea. Get 16 people with the mount,give one a leather ball and then get them to pass it about. Quidditch

This is the smoothest and quietest ride of any WoW mount I've ever tried - absolutely enjoyable. (Also, if you're into PVP, it's very subtle since it's so small and doesn't have great big flappy dragon wings to give away your location.)

I understand the point of having it be limited duration, but just because it is so much fun to ride, I wish it could be a year-round mount.
