I wear this helm and its ok. In terms of dps, its not really any better then a fully blue-gem socketed Second Sight helm, and its worse then Demon Stalker helm. However, it has a lot of int, and thats probably the only good thing about it, since it pushes my mana over 6.6k. I have good AP/crit so I can afford to wear this.

So basically if you don't have your T4 helm yet, take it. For hunters its not that hard to get the T4 helm since both mages and locks prefer Spellstrike Hood instead of their T4 helms.

And by the way, this helm would be amazing if it had sockets instead of sta/int.

Agreed. This helm is nice. Just dropped for my guild last night, I rolled on it and lost. But after I realized it really is not better than http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31106#z0z I wasnt that upset. I'll prolly wont upgrade it till I get the cataclysm helm. The sockets is what makes second sight better. I personally have + 3 Strength + 4 Stamina (In all three), which gives 86 AP with the socket bonus and you gain 4mp/5 & 31 Agility.

But it's -13 Stam and - 29 Int. Which we all know as an enhancement shammy you are gonna have to sacrafice your mana pool to get some ap and + crit.

FYI, I also have the lower city enchant (+ 17 Strength + 16 Intell).

got this helm from maulgar yesterday. it's a nice helm, but i won't be wearing it instead of my second sight helm. however, with the crit, AP and heavy sta, it's a really nice pvp helm

The stats listed here are much better than the current live version of Maulgar's Warhelm. Is this 2.1 data or a mistake? 16 more crit rating, 10 more AP, a hair less int and more stam? Very nice. Hope this goes live.

As an enhancement shaman, I would consider this post 2.1-buff to be one of the top helms in the game. It's got nearly perfect stat distribution (would trade some stam for hit rating). Considering it's from the easiest 25 man boss, I am very happy!

For a hunter the Agi makes up for the lack of equip AP. MM gets alittle AP from the Intel. This helm is basically a AP helm where the Warhelm is a Crit helm.

105 AP (129 AP with +24 AP / run speed increase meta instead)
1.8% Crit (1.25% crit with +24 AP / run speed increase meta instead)

Maulgar's Warhelm

715 Armor
+43 Stamina
+31 Intellect
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 42.
Equip: Increases attack power by 86.

Translates into:
430 HP
450 Mana
86 AP
1.9% Crit

So Maulgar's Warhelm gives you -slightly- more crit and less AP but has a lot more stamina and intellect. Ideal for a Shaman perhaps but Hunters can make very good use of it as well. Disregarding set bonuses, Maulgar's Warhelm is somewhat better for Marksman Hunters whom do not depend on pure agility. For Survivalists, the T4 helm is preferable.

I snagged this because no one else wanted it, and all I had was the Beast Lord helm. But I think I'm going to replace this in a week with the Merciless Gladiator's Chain Helm--isn't that a better upgrade, even for PvE?

I got this on a shaman. The chat message said it had been added to my appearances, but it was only added to that character's appearances. After today's reset I got it on a hunter, and this time it was correctly made an account-wide appearance.
