Using ProcWatch my trinket procced off 5% of all melee attacks and abilities and with a crit rate of 20% that puts the proc rate at about 1/4 of all crits (using slightly flawed maths of course).

I do suspect the number to be lower around 10% but it procs often. On a combat rogue doing regular level 70 humanoid farming - It procs once a fight...once every 2 fights at the most.

Great item for the 1.45% crit (at 70) and the proc. My favourite bit of loot in TBC so far.

Hmmm.

I just got this last night on my dual wield fury warrior. I think I've only seen it proc a handful of times since having it. I crit quite a bit (25% base, upwards to 33% in grouping scenarios buffed up). Did they turn this into a Crusader type proc in that it's a per minute proc rather than a true % proc rate?

This trinket has a hidden (or internal) cooldown of 45seconds, which is probably why some people haven't noticed it proc'ing as much. It's very solid on long boss fights.

Yes, it should stack. I've activated my other AP trinkets after a proc of the Hourglass and the AP definitely stacks. Getting to 3k AP with battle shout up and an enhance shammy in group is ftw.

I can confirm that it does stack with "use" trinkets. With Bloodlust Brooch a correctly specced hunter can gain 627 AP by stacking these two, not sure if other classes get an increase in AP% from talents or spells but I don't see myself replacing this trinket for LONG time especially since I had to set up literally 30 BM runs in a week specifically so I could get this trinket.

Few things have angered me more in this game than the drop rate of this trinket. 6k from exalted now and it hasn't dropped, not even once. Blizzard must just hate me or something, because I see rogues everywhere with it and even my hunter friend that has done the place much less than I, has it and has seen it drop several times.

I wrote the addon for my shaman to count procs because all other addons doesn't count WF of SS as hits.
In addition my addon shows smallest time between procs.
So i did a "little" test on an unkillable Servant of Sevine in Blasted Lands using + :

Rage of the Unraveller got 98 procs in 3761 crits (10414 hits) and the smallest time was 49.686 sec between them :-(
Skyfire Swiftness got 100 procs in 10414 hits and the smallest time was 40.58 sec between them :-(

We see a cooldown of 50sec on this pre 2.1 IMBA trinket /cry
And 40sec on new metagem /spit

Picked this up the other day on my Paladin, the only other person who could use it was a Rogue, who already had it. I spec Ret from time to time for farming/questing (Netherdrake!), and was pleasantly surprised to find out that this trinket procs off of white crits, Seal of Command crits, and also Judgement of Command crits.

Since Judgement of Command is technically a spell, I was especially surprised to see it proc off of it, but it makes the trinket one of the best in the game for Ret Pallies, since JOC crits about 70% of the time and is usable every 8 seconds. I can also confirm the ~45s hidden cooldown.

I'm exalted w/ CoT and only seen this thing once... the stupid hunter who won was on his FIRST RUN to the damn place... my advice: if you're putting a grp together for the sole purpose of getting this... don't invite any other melee and have a pally tank... stupid thing...

52 BM runs (not all full clears and yes I'm Exalted and have Riftmaker) and I haven't even *SEEN* this trinket, let alone been able to roll on it.

I am an arms spec warrior love this trinket procs very often 1 time per min on avg. I use this with abbucus of violent odds. I also use trinket menu addon. With core of ar'kelos when core is on cooldown I swap it with abucus the attack power on equip is a diff of 12 but for the few sec that it is applied I get a 200 attack power bonus from the cores activation. Then I switch back to abacus between fights works realy well. According to damage meter I am pulling upwards of 700-1k dps on single mob targets as an arms warrior. So I cant complain any.

I've no idea what people are on about "Hidden cooldown", i've had mine Proc back to back as a BM Hunter, one time the 10 second duration was refreshed as it got down to 2 seconds remaining.

Maybe it was changed recently?

Another thing to remember is that, when raiding, this is something you simply don't have to worry about. It just does what it does, on it's own. Comparing it to a trinket you have to pop manually gives you a best-case comparison favoring the other trinket. In the real world, you may forget to pop a trinket for some seconds, wasting potential buff time.

Unfortunately this trinket isn't quite as good for Retri Paladins as it is for Dual Wielders/Hunters - it is quite a lovely trinket and one of the best you can find.

I disagree. Retribution is a crit driven spec, a little like Moonkin Druids, except even more reliant on crits. DWers need +hit more than they need +crit. We have to keep Vengeance up, and to keep Vengenace up we have to keep critting. The passive crit rating on this trinket alone is reason enough to use it over a Bladefist's Breadth, and the proc is superior to the proc on the Skyguard Silver Cross for instances (Skyguard Silver Cross wins for farming hands down though).

The only time I don't use mine is when I'm in a group with a Feral Druid, and my crit is pushed up to where I feel more comfortable just using 2 AP trinkets. And I don't see myself trading it for anything but a Tsunami Talisman right now.

does this really work properly?
several players claim having seen prog this trinket at least 2 times in 45 sec,but the majority supports the 45 sec cd opinion.

could it be that dual wielders have a (buggy) chance of progging it twice every 45 seconds, because the cooldown only affects every single weapon? GMs don't answer to such questions as always...

If I can add my own 2c here, what I think is interesting is that unlike many other trinket that add a flat bonus to output, this one ramps up the better the rest of your gear is (or at least how much crit you have) because of the proc. If you are covered in greens and someone else in the group has descent gear and stands to benefit from it... let it go and come back for it another time. Also, although I agree that someone with a 2H can benefit from it a fair bit with good gear, I still think it will have far more benefit to a well geared dual wielder. It will simply proc more consistently for them.

I picked one up when everyone else didn't want it and in 30 mins of farming couldn't make the thing proc with 19% crit

Note that with the rogue talent Deadliness 5/5, the bonus is 330ap, which equates to 24 DPS for the duration of the bonus.

OMG- I have run BM about 35 times and this trinket dropped once to which I was out-rolled by a fury war. 35TIMES.. I can do this fight while folding laundry or making toast. This trinket is awesome, with Improved aspect of the Hawk proc, Thundering Skyfire Diamond proc, Rapid Fire and an AP trinket at 32%crit... holy crap that is like 3000dps.. C'mon BliZz - why do u hate me so much?

I'm a little surprised this falls so low on Emmerald's list of druid sustained dps trinkets. Always being crit chance starved (if you live and die by Toskks model), pairing this with another AP equip/AP on-use trinket would be an amazing combination.

And I'm with the poster who commented on the benefit of "on equip" trinkets versus "on use". Sure, you get trained to pop your AP trinket before a Rip, but when you're also keeping an eye out for back-up heal, or raid AoE damage warnings, it's just another thing you can forget about having to do.

And the answer is yes.

This trinket is ridiculously good. Even after the last couple of patches introduced new and better trinkets, this is still near the top of the list for physical damage dealers. If you don't have DST or Berserker's Call, you're still in good shape if you have the Hourglass equipped.

My LONG Opinion!

Ok so the hidden cooldown is 50secs, if this is a melee class 10seconds is MORE then enough to proc it using abilities and white hitting. So 300AP every 1min, is a lot better than 276AP every 2min. 13.2AP is 1dps (from what I worked out on my rogue) is nice to have AP buffs up longer although adding the times the bloodlust broach does last twice as long giving about the same length even though the hidden cooldown is shorter. However! Many class’s get extra benefits from crits, yes yes AP is good and all but a crit is 200% more dmg MORE even if u don’t include talents.

It depends on spec alone, If u have crit talents take crit, if u have AP talents get AP. Best way is for warriors flurry is 25% more haste that’s 25% more hits and 25% more dmg even though u get more dmg with bloodthirst and 10% more AP in berserker is having that extra AP going to compete with 25% more dmg from having flurry up longer? If u feel flurry is always up for your shaman/warrior then AP maybe, but shamans only get + 10% AP on criting aswell.

Here’s how I do it!
1st of all find out the crit u get from a trinket then items the crit % by the % extra dmg you get (incl talents eg: lethality) so 1.6% crit x 230% (rogue with lethality) = 3.68% more damage, and 72AP/13.2=5.45DPS (do the offhand aswell so for a rogue that’s got talents it’s the same as MH dmg) 10.9DPS total from 72AP, if 10.9DPS is more than 3.68% more dmg (to find out get your average dps and times by 3.68%. or if there nearly the same go for the 1 with the better second effect (hourglass has some extra AP and lasts about the same roughly).

If I made any mistakes this is just taking my knowledge from top of my head.

AP is good, Crit is Better, Haste is even better but chance for a extra attack is the best. (Dont go is 5crit chance better than 72AP ur a fool if u do) For Pve max out hit+ then focus on these little babys cause what u dont hit AP crit haste and extra attacks arent even going to hit.

True but say its nuke time? , you pop cd's (Adrenaline Rush, Rapid Fire, Death Wish, sweeping strikes, ice veins etc) you use effect trinket can be used to get full benefit from your cd's regardless of the few secods you missed u can easily make up for it when ur ensured its proced in your nuke phase.

I have no use trinkets, but being a orc i have my racial, i mave it macroed into elemental fury. I pop this cd when i pop bloodlust to get maximum effect.

The trinkets i use seem to have a much smaller cd, they're for spell casters tho.

Been testing this for hours on end alongside Berserker's Call, against Bloodlust Brooch, Ashtongue Talisman of Swiftness, and Battlemaster's Celerity (MM hunter). Sustained DPS for 8 minutes, and the Hourglass comes on top every single time. Although I've been unlucky enough to grab neither DST, Tsunami Trinket nor Madness of the Betrayer, I have to say I'm still impressed by this lowly level 68 blue. Raiding SWP with a blue, idunno... Facts are, this is still a great thing to have. Grab it, it's fine.
