This is an extremely hard drop. Seeing as it is a world drop it is not farmable. That's where the line is drawn between collectable patterns, and nearly unobtainable collectable patterns. This one is on par with the star belt pattern. Once a pattern can't be farmed, you are running on pure chance that it pops up in the AH or randomly on a drop. with 1% of 1% chance that it drops this is not going to drop any time soon.
This is pattern collectors will shell BIG coin for.

Note to the people down-voting the comments of it dropping in Mana Tombs: IT DOES DROP FROM MANA-TOMBS AS WELL. It seems most of the BC rare world drop purple patterns can drop from a variety of dungeons. I got this from a normal Mana=Tombs run while farming Netherweave Cloth. I also got another purple pattern from Hellfire Ramparts which was not listed as a drop from there on Wowhead.

I just had this drop today (22/07/2022) from Hellfire Ramparts normal on my level 60 mage (transmog farming). Just thought I would mention it since Hellfire Ramparts isn't mentioned as one of the potential dungeons that drop it and many of the comments are pointing people towards Mana Tombs.

For anyone who wonders how/why this can be a world drop even though such a small number of mobs are listed, I can shed some light on that. Wowhead bases the loot statistics off of cached info that is uploaded by players who use the Wowhead Looter & Client. Unfortunately, the drop rate on this pattern is truly so very low that there have only been a small amount of players over the years that looted this item while also using the Wowhead Looter.

Not only does this mean that there's actually a ton more mobs that drop this pattern... it also means that there isn't a good enough sampling to figure out which mobs truthfully have the best chance at dropping this pattern. For all we know, the mob that actually has the highest drop rate might not even be listed!

My best advice would be to listen to the comments of those who have stated where they got this pattern. Don't dismiss that information out of hand due to the fact that the mob they got it from isn't listed under the "Dropped by" tab. When looking at the player comments from over the years and adding it to the sparse drop rate statistics, it seems like the four dungeons in Terokkar are probably the best bet... but in actuality these plans can probably drop from just about anywhere in BC content.

All that being said... if you're truly desperate for one of these because you're a collector, it would probably be faster to earn the gold you need in order to buy one off of the auction house than it would be to farm for the actual pattern.
