You need the Blood Scythe from ZG first to collect Bloodvine. Scythes drop from Jinxed Hoodoo Piles, along with dolls for your class enchant. Bloodvine can drop by the way from just about any herb in ZG, including Purple Lotus, as well as dreamfoil and other herbs.

This is quite an useful herb, used in a lot of leatherworking, blacksmithing recipes. A couple of examples:

It's pretty rare these days, few people are running ZG anymore. I'm wondering what's a good price to charge for the bloodvine, 100g each maybe! Gold is cheap in TBC.

BC has ruined many good recipes as nobody raids Molten Core or ZG anymore so Core Leather + Bloodvine are no longer up on the auction house.

Core Felcloth Bag takes 8 bloodvine, 16 core leather and some other reagents and I just realised where this stuff drops so theres not alot of chance of me getting it (After collecting ALL of the other mats, even the leather /groan)

Guess ill just have to try and hit lucky with the auction house or trade channel.

Warlocks ---- Hold onto any Core Leather or Bloodvine you have! They are the most expensive parts of a Core Felcloth Bag (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21342) but its much cheaper than an Ebon Shadowbag (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21872) if you can get them.

It drops from mobs too ... that is good because i want some to make an alt gear:
Blood Tiger 2 set and i hope it drops enought till i manage to get teh needed 6k rep to get the second recipe.

If a warlock spends that cash for Core Leathers and Bloodvines other than just gather 6 shadowcloths it might be for playing old school since shadow cloth is a lot easier to gether than 16 Core Leathers for example (myself and some guildies rescently did an entire MC run for 32 core Leathers

Can anyone tell me if the scythe is needed for this to drop from mobs or is it just related to gathering from herbs?

My friend wants one for Blacksmithing and as BC ruined old world instances there's nothing on AH and no-one to run the instance with! I was thinking if it dropped from mobs without the scythe then it could be farmed from the first few mobs, with the ability to run out the instance if we get into trouble, and reset the instance when we run out of the easier mobs!

BLizzard nerfed SIlithus to encourage questing there, and this is needed for BS'ing the rewards from there, so perhaps they could also make this easier to get. Many players are new, quest straight to 70 and never even hear of Zul'Gurub or MC, so getting any group is near impossible.

All that programming they did on old world end-game - all wasted cos no-one does it anymore, it's such a shame!

Did this last night, and several of these dropped in the course of a full-clear (including Hakkar). It appears that it drops randomly now, without the scythe.

Any idea how often these will drop while herbing in ZG. I got the Blood Scythe and started herbing, but couldn't get any bloodvine to drop.

Does anyone know if you can still get this herb anywhere? Now that ZG has been changed I wasn't sure if it has been removed or not.

Edit: Spoke to a GM today and it has been confirmed that this reagent is no longer in game, so any recipes requiring it cannot be made.

Bloodvine is being removed from all recipes in 4.3, making it entirely obsolete.

This was changed from a green-quality to a gray-quality item in Patch 4.3. Existing Bloodvine can be sold to a vendor, but it will no longer drop from mobs and is otherwise un-obtainable. The recipes using this item have been altered to no longer require Bloodvine as a reagent.
