Drops in SFK, as a random BoE blue.
Great for twinking a low level rogue, or if you happen to be lucky enough to get it as a legit leveling rogue then it's stats and spd, make for a far superior dagger then all the other Blue Daggers around this level.

With the higher Spd, your ambush and backstabs will provide far a bit more damage then your average dagger.

I've been running Shadowfang lately to hopefully get this drop, but as of 54 runs, I have yet to see it. It's pretty tough to get. It only sold for about 50 gold on the Dark Iron server last time I saw it.

best way i found to get this was to aoe farm SFK. i used a priest with holy nova. just aggro'd everyone just by running past then once i got enough i just holy nova killed em. only rob is that u are gonna want to empty your bags before u go in because u gotta loot them all or else u will miss some of the people u kill.

This is probably the best twink weapon you will find for a level 19. It is also probably one of the hardest items to farm in my opinion. Great stats, especially with a lifestealing enchant, crusader enchant, or agility +15 enchant on it. The most successful way I have farmed this up is to use AoE spells... if you have them. Just gather up all the mobs in the area and bring em' down quick, that is if you have a high level character that can easily solo this instance. On my server (Skywall) prices on this baby are up to 300g. Probably the same for all the others, so if you want to make some cash, start farming Shadowfang Keep in Southern Silverpine Forest near Pyrewood Village.

They must have lowered or removed the Assassin's Blade from Archmage Arugals. 2.3% is way to high in my opinion.

I've run SFK 40+ times over the last month & the blade has never dropped. Black Malice & Shadowfang are the only BoE Blues I've gotten out of there as of yet.

It is less then a 2.3% drop, ive ran it atleast 80 times and havent found it yet. Black Malice and Shadowfang are still good weps to sell, get around 20-35g for both in Bonechewer-US. But great for twink rogue, especially with crusader, Lifestealing, and +15 agi.

I got this weapon on my first or second run in SFK from some undead guy when I was about lvl 20, I was a noob and stupidly sold it for only 20g. When I found out what it was worth, I was a little mad. I've run about 50-75 times since then, usually out of boredom, and at lvl 50, almost 2 months after, I just got my second one, its in ah for about 200g now. So my advice is, dont go to SFK solely for this one item, cuz you'll be there for a long while and probably waste a lot of game time when you could be leveling up. But if you do happen to get it, especially around my lvl, grats, it will definitely help you get your epic mount, Same for lvl 40s and there normal mount lol

I can amagine that most people want there own twink but they didnt have enough money! I can show how to make a twink who isnt very very expensive, but he is powerfull!
I make an example for a rogue twink :

Main-Hand - Cruel Barb or Stinging viper cuz theyre BoP and they wont cost ya anything! Enchanted with Striking.

Off-Hand - Cruel Barb, also enchanted with Striking.

Ranged - Venomsrike or Thick bronze darts.

Head - Green tinted goggles, if you dont wanna lvl ur engineering you can just use flying tiger goggles cuz the first lvls with engi are going mostly very quik!

Neck - Scouts/Sentinells medaillon.

Chest - Blackened defias armor or Tunic of westfall with 50 health its not so expensive.

Back - Glowing lizardscale cloak or Firebane cloak, it will cost ya 10-15g if u have patience, enchanted with 3 agi.

Feet - Bristlebark boots or Footpads of the fang, they are almost even good as feet of the lynx. Enchanted with 5 stam.

Legs - Leggings of the fang with a medium armor kit on it.

Shoulder - Talbar Mantle, if ur alliance it will be much easyer to get serpents shoulders or Bandits shoulders or sumfin else.

Waist - If you will do some WC you will have the mats for Deviate Scale Belt and u need to find someone who can make it and he cant ask more than 2g fee.

Wrist - Forest leather bracers enchanted with 7 stamina.

I actually got the Assassin's Blade twice within 3 days! I sold one of the blades for 180g on my server and the other is for my twink rogue. I agree it is a good twink weapon and if you're lucky like me you can make a lot of money and still have one for yourself! Happy farming!

I plan on using this weapon for stabbing with my twinked 19 rogue, while using a Cruel Barb in the offhand (at all times) and a Shadowfang in the main hand for regular combat. To me that appears to be the strongest weapon combo for a twinked rogue at level 19.

I've already got the Barb, it's just the Assassin's Blade and Shadowfang that are going to take a long time to farm... it's such a rare drop that it doesn't appear in the AH that often, and when it is there it is at a very high price.

The mob level range for a Lv 19 rare should be around 22-25. Arugal might be too high already. And keep in mind that there are lower SF bound boe items that sell for a small fortune.

I've done some calculating, for each mob there is a 0.14% Chance of it dropping any BoE Blue in SFK, there are about 85 mobs + in SFK, meaning if you cleared the entire instance, there will be a 11.9% chance of you recieving a BoE blue if you are alone, if in a group of 5, it is a mere 2.38%.

This means if you cleared SFK 8-9 times, completely, you are likely to recieve some kind of BoE blue.

Does anyone know the proc rate of icy chill on this?

I've been unable to find a good indication if it's ppm or chance on hit... from what I've seen anecdotally, in comments, it seems to be an actual % chance on hit.

SO, how viable would this be for a rogue at level 19 when they need to snare people? 5 seconds of snare is pretty decent, and if you just need fast weapons for it... is assassin's blade too slow? (as compared to some of the 1.5 speed daggers and such out there for 19)

With regards to farming for this weapon, don't do it. Just because your friend managed to score one of these in a couple of runs doesn't mean you're going to do the same thing - that's what we call a fallacy. It's far more worth your time to do higher level quests for guaranteed cash flow rather than clear a low level instance repeatedly and pray for the best. You'll be sure to find one of these on the AH later on and you can buy it with the money you made doing quests and grabbing loot along the way.

I ran SFK with a lvl 55 warrior about 15 times maybe. I was not lucky enough to get the assassins blade but in those 15 runs(give or take) i got 5 blues including night reaver and shadowfang sword(which scored me 150g). The other three i can not remember exactly the names but sold for a good amount of gold. Maybe i was lucky but this was all done pre 2.3v so i don't know if the drop rate has changed. At level 55 it was only taking me 30 minutes at most to finish with slightly better than average gear. arms/fury spec'd. The average time i got these drops was during peak hours on a normal server. I hope this gives hope to some of you. :)

Truly is an Assassin's Blade, with a 15+ agility enchant on this for a 19 twink rogue means you could an amazing Ambush Critical ranging from 275-500. Icecrown Realm - Alot of twinks in our twink guild, Short Bus Riders ( SBR ) Now changed to Skill Brings Respect ( SBR ) have this weapon, mostly the rogues, some even dual wield 2 of them. If a rogue dual wielded Assassin's Blade in the main hand and Shadowfang in the offhand with 15+ agility on Assassin's Blade and Lifestealing on Shadowfang they might be literally unstoppable, I suggest getting Lucky Fishing Hat and Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots you are by far, i think, the best twink ever. Lastly, exactly how it was said up the page, DO NOT farm this wep in SFK, it's very unlikely, it would probably be more likely to get it in 1 run than 15, hard to believe but it's true! So I'm sitting here thinking about weapons to twink my Rogue out with and I came out with this composition.

Assassin's Blade = 1.90 Speed, 4 agility, 3 strength 15.5 dps
Shadowfang = 2.70 Speed, 17.8 dps, COH: 30 shadow damage
Cruel Barb = 2.80 Speed, 15.5 dps, 12 AP
Wingblade = 2.20 Speed, 5 agility, 2 stamina, 15.7 dps
Scout's Blade/Sentinel's Blade (Warsong Gulch pvp daggers) = 1.70 Speed, 4 agility, 2 stamina, 15.3 dps

After putting together this information here is what I came up with.

Assasin's Blade/Wingblade is by far the best combo due to the stats and the median of the dps. If you were to throw 15 agility on both of these (Which 90% of real twink rogues do) that would give you about 39 Attack power, plus a decent amount of dodge. On a side note, this combo would provide the most dps (With enchants of course) meaning with 200+ attack power that a good amount of twink rogues have with this combo the odds of you one shotting a cloth wearer with a crit ambush is more often then not by far.

But for those that aren't intrested in paying out the ass for there rogue then Cruel barb/pvp Dagger is also a phenomenal choice. You also get +crit, +dodge, and +ap with this set, and you dont have to clear out your life savings just to stab someone this is obviously the best choice. It will take you a maximum of a 6 hours to farm the honor, and if you have a high level running you through dead mines you will most likely knock out both in the same day.

In all honesty, I would sugest to everyone reading this to rule out shadowfang. The dps is higher then any one handed weapon you will get in the 10-19 bracket. And yes you can always get the enchant on it blah blah but its less effort then its worth. The chance on hit is something that I personally think blizzard just rolled a dice and flipped a coin and thats what it came out with. The main reasons for not wanting Shadowfang is: 1. the speed is to slow for my taste. 2. the chance on hit makes me gag. 3. It's a sword. A rogue will lose out on the backstab/ambush abilitys if they group this with another sword.

My personal oppinion on this matter is, if you have the money, go for victory. I personally have 2 level 70's, stocked with a decent amount of gold on both. Considering I love daggers with all of my soul I'm going to spend my time camping the auction house for the Assassin's blade and farming honor for the Scouts Blade.

This is just my outlook on this never ending subject, and I hope it has helped someone.

Okay, now that you've decided on your weapons, what are you going to have them enchanted with? I hear a lot of people talking about using enchants like Lifestealing, Crusader or Fiery Weapon, but these don't make any sense to me. You want something that is going to inflict the most damage EVERY time you attack. All of these enchants have random PROC's and there's no guarantee you'll reap the benefits of it in any given battle. Sounds like a sucky deal to me.

I say get duel Agility enchants. The +30 to your agility will help you in a number of ways. A +30 to Agility results in:

Increases attack power with ranged weapons
Rogues gain 30 ranged attack power
Rogues gain 30 melee attack power
Increases armor by 60
Increases chance to score a critical hit with a weapon.
Increases chance to dodge attacks.

Now really. Doesn't this sound a whole lot better than occasionally inflicting 40 fire damage?! Granted, I like it when I see a Horde rogue coming at me on the battlefield with a flaming weapon. Makes them a more likely target for my duel +15's. ;)

I don't really see why this dagger is so sought after. It's slow for a dagger and it's stats are almost the same as an easier acquired dagger called the Tail Spike. Tail Spike may not have as much damage as the Assassin's Blade but it makes up for it in being a free drop from Skum in Wailing Caverns, instead of paying an arm and a leg for a crappy dagger you'd later replace really quickly. Plus Tail Spike is usable at an earlier level.

EDIT: Tail Spike has 1.1 less damage on it, one more str, and one more agility. There isn't really much difference in the two when it comes to damage.

There are any number of ways to write a macro to do this, but (at least in my opinion) - ItemRack is an even better option. It lets you define "sets" of gear, then associate those sets with different "events". In this case, you would create a set using your dagger in the main hand and one using a sword in the main hand, then associate the dagger set with the Rogue-Stealth event. Doing so will automatically equip your dagger in your main hand every time you go into stealth, then swap your sword back into the main hand after you come out of stealth (and after having backstabbed/ambushed your target).

There is a 5 instance per hour limit per toon.
For all you poorer people that don't have enough high level toons to farm this, you can always use a DK for this purpose, that is if you don't have a DK on the server already.

My friend helped me farm this, I'd create a DK, he would create a portal to UC, and i'd walk from there.
then you can farm, mail greens ect., log delete your DK and rinse wash repeat.

if that is true you can be getting some good blues for a twink in an hour.

Off-topic use a macro like
/cast stealth(rank1)
/equip Assassin's Blade

/cast ambush(rank1)
/equip Shadowfang

or any attack.

and then you'll do some good DPS on an ambush, and then some good DPS via SS w/ swords and eviscerate.

i love how some people pop the old... "shadowfang owns this" crap. if you have ever specced dagger and gotten a nice talent tree (i prefer http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f) you will easily out DPS any SS spamming rouge. This is easily the best rouge twink MH weapon for the 19 bracket and for horde and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6504 in the OH. and for alliance just use Thief's Blade OH. Warriors and pallys please do go for shadowfang as it Is the best 1h weapon for you! and for the 15 agil vs lifesteal in the MH...Lifesteal is an incredibal proc rate.. its proc rate is proc rate (%) = weapon speed * 7.87 so it would be 14.953% procrate on this dagger.

This little fellow, bearing the name "Assassin's Blade" is in fact, not a drop from Shadowfang Keep only!

As I was questing on my blood elf rogue in Hillsbrad Fields, I tried to pickpocket all the humanoids there, with success. When I got back to Tarren Mill, I decided to level up my Lockpicking, by opening the three lockboxes that I took from the Hillsbrad Field Humanoids. In the very first of these lockboxes, I found this very item, amongst 37 copper and one Mind-Numbing Poison.

Very good quality twink weapon, someone on my server solded it for 2,500g as they really don't go for the ridiclous 5,000-10,000g anymore.

This dagger is not so great anymore because:

1. There are better, more easily obtained weapons that are superior in the offhand, such as Theifs Blade or Battleworn Thrash Blade.

2. Its rare, so often people that do find one will overprice it.

3. Its only real use is in an ambush/backstab build for a 19 rogue, which is at best a situational play style. Dueling against an equally geared sword rogue will most likely end in the dagger rogue losing, plus you can get a dagger called Tail Spike off Skum in WC that has close to the same speed and top-end damage essentially for free.

~ Over all, its a nice weapon but its not the king off offhands like it used to be when there weren't any other offhand weapons with as many stats. Its pretty, but again there are more easily obtained weapons that will do its job just as well if not better.

Dropped for me this morning put on AH for 5000 g bid and some one whispered me and made me offer for buyout sold it for 5482 g PS It dropped on my first time in Shadowfangkeep was running my friend and dropped from a wailing gaurd . Pss Realm is Lightninghoof and name is Tenkorian

sword rogue vs dagger rogue... it mainly depends on who gets the first hit in. even so i have killed sword rogues when THEY get the first hit. (lv 19 twinks...)

An extremely powerful weapon for a 19 Rogue twink and it is a dagger meaning you can Backstab or Ambush with it. Considering its rarity, and the fact that its frequently used when twinking, it is going to be very valuable.

............ok well lets just say after crunching some numbers after 100 runs in shadow fangkeep you had about a 86% chance of a boe blue item dropping.....that is IF the item dose drop any trash mobs...... now if it only drops off things lvl 21* (every boss after/include odo the blind watcher) and if it keeps the same drop rate as a normal trash mob and i bet that the boss has a higher l% drop rate, any way at a minimum drop rate it is a .0045% of a dropped blue off of one run out of 100 it is a .45 and if your magical and get that rare spawn evey 3 runs like people say he spawns then it will be .4799 repeating % to drop in 100 runs................

now i ran this a just 30 times and i got so bored i ran it a few more times and got some buccaneers stuff then made myself look kinda like a pirate..... i call this grinding madness.................. i suggest only running this a max of 10 times a day.... any more and the damage will be irreversible hahaha

but i have also heard that the boss has a higher drop rate i have now been told it is .01 meaning that the drop rate for 1 run is now .04 BIG DIFFERENCE! out of 100 runs with the rare spawn worked into it the drop rate is 4.799 so im to lazy and dont have a calculater to give you exact mathe so i may be off by .1 give or take lol but still then you have to devide that by 5 if your going for the assassins blade because those numbers show the chance of a boe blue being droped and there are 5 boe blues that drop.......... SOOO! in the end it is .96% drop out of 100

I'm suprised no one mentioned it but now rogues can use axes so it adds some more options for twinks to use for weapons because of axes like smites reaver which drops from Mr.Smite in deadmines.

16 months later, and about a hundred runs of SFK, I finally got this $%#$% blade. Did it ever drop? No. I ended up buying it off trade for 2,500g. Well worth it if you ask me.

The price of the weapon varies on servers. I bought mine for 2500g, and I think it was a good bargain. Days later another one was up for 4000g. I suggest buying this weapon instead of trying to get it yourself, if you like me don't have the patience required.

On Dunemaul PvP - EU: I put it on AH for 1500 bid and 2500 buyout. A total of 3 people bidded on the item sold it for 1950g (5% AH share not included).

i tried to farm this for my rogue. Did so for a week straight and nothing! my opinion for this, dont waste your time. If you happen to be going through SFK and it drops congrats, but the amount of time you spend farming for* your toon (who it was supposed to be for) could already have better.

I was always into the buy cheap and sell high thing when i was a noob and still am now, one day i went to booty bay AH saw it for about 15g so i was like what the heck i can resell this for 30g easy! so i buy it goto SW put in AH and wait and was happy to see that 30g in the mail until about 3-6 mounths later i made a 19 twink rogue and found out the bad news, it was a sad day for me and my little gnome rogue. /gnome cry

even sence blizz stoped twinking this babby has still beens selling up to 1000 gold on my server (lightning's blade) i did SFK once on my rouge sence the random instance are set to be a "need before greed" i was lv 18 and this poped up on my loot I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD HIT NEED ON IT. so i did ened up selling it for 1000 gold in trade chat the other people didnt tell me or anything that it was a twink item i knew that all along.... but i needed my epic flyer on my main and this got me there fastest gold you will ever make is if you find this.

Also SFK's level has been lowered slightly once again, so this may have an impact on the drop rate however the level requirement has also been nerfed.

The "locked chests" in sfk however, are still there but rogues can't open them until they are level 20. Lock picking now scales with level, so we might see this and shadow fang becoming "more often" as more rogues will lock pick more - providing they are level 20 and choose to sell the item instead of equipping it.

Unfortunately it seems to have gone through a slight nerf in damage. Used to hit for 20-39 damage at 1.9 speed with 3 agil and 4 strength but is now changed.

New Stats are 17-34 damage at 1.8 with 3 agil and 4 hit.

I liked when it hit really hard.

I'm almost 100% sure this doesn't drop anymore, as of 10/11/2012... I've farmed it multiple times, checked the AH every time I logged on, and I still haven't seen this dagger (server is Magtheridon, which is very populated). If ANYONE has seen it drop in 2012, please post!

Since nerfing this obviously didn't fix the drop-rate, how about changing it back to req 19, ilvl 24. Up the dps with like 1,4 and maybe add 2 agi, 3 crit or something, or skip the secondary stats and add a frostbolt proc. ;P This legendary blade deserves better stats then this (and so do the people taking the time to farm, or spend a !@#$ing fortune to get their hands on it)... Someone make it happen please!

After have done more than 40 runs with my main , it just dropped today leveling my 19 twink. In the same instance i got Gloomshroud Armor aswell, guess too lucky.

Just farmed this blade, took me 2 resets, got it on 3rd run.

I full cleared the first time, but looking at the screenshots/mobs listed that it drops from, I thought it better to just pull the first room. Kill them, then boss. Pull the courtyard, go up the ramp, grab everything and run back down to the 2nd boss. Loot, run out and reset.

I don't know if it only drops off those 3 mobs listed, but that's just my (brief) experience with it.

For people trying to transmog lvl19 - Rogue Twink (Alliance) this is what i think is the best pieces in-game(that is currently available!) and the set that I use.

ARMOR
Head: 遊俠之帽 - Usually Cheap on AH
Shoulders: 堅硬的護肩 - 安娜科德拉女士in 哀嚎洞穴
Cloak: 哨衛披風 - Rare BoE, Usually Quite Expensive on AH
Chest: 超強外套(Lookalike to:西部荒野外套) / 斥候外套 (Lookalike to:黑暗迪菲亞護甲) - Usually moderately priced on AH
Tabard: : 銀翼軍服戰歌軍服 or any you like :)
Bracers: Not really Applicable, as most doesnt show, if you decide to use 斥候外套 chest, then 光明飲者束腕 can close the gap
Gloves: 斥候手套 - AH / 尖牙手套 - AH or Dropps of random 尖牙德魯伊 in 哀嚎洞穴
Belt: 蛇鱗腰帶 - Crafted - Recepi no longer available, hard to find crafter.
leggs: 尖牙護腿 drops off 考布萊恩領主 in 哀嚎洞穴
Boots:山貓之足 - Rare BoE, Usually Quite Expensive on AH

Some items are quite expensive, others are not :) check your server's AH and hope for the best! many can be farmed! ^^

If you are farming SFK for this and the other BOE transmogs, use a mage if you have one. Once you have finished the run, teleport to Dalaran Crater and fly the short hop back - much faster than running out.
