Items that used to use this mat:
Ironfeather Breastplate needed 120
Ironfeather Shoulders needed 80
Since patch 3.10 these patterns replaced either quantity of Ironfeathers to 40 Light Feathers.

Swift Flight Bracers used to need 60 Ironfeathers
Since patch 3.10 the requirement for any type of feather was dropped.

(On a personal note I found it irritating that Ironfeathers only stacked to 50 while every pattern that required them needed more than that.)

Patch 3.10 changed Ironfeathers, Thick Wolfshide, Chimera Leather, Shadowcat Hide, Jet Black Feather, and Long Tail Feather from Leatherworking Mats to grey vendor trash.

Which, again, removed variability from WoW. Epic, EPIC fail again.

Okay, I can understand wanting some variety, but if you're trying to craft level 60 items in a level 80 world, you don't want to be farming rare ingredients from mobs no one kills anymore. I think this was to just make it easier for people leveling to craft nice items.

I agree with kerbuffel, these kind of nerfs are common on games that last for a long time, like everquest and alike. It's normal for the developers to "nerf" the experience and material for professions grind to allow alts and new players alike to achieve the higher, common with most other players, level.

It would be cool, nonetheless, that with Cataclysm, these materials could have a new life and sorts.

Obviously the WoW developers are secretly in league with D.E.H.T.A. leaders who demanded these feathers be made 'worthless' to stop Ironbeak Owls/Hunters/Screechers from being driven to extinction by leatherworkers like myself.
