Excellent shield if you can grab it to farm as a protpally. The proc means you are essentially blocking 75%+ of all attacks, so with low damage, high attack speed mobs this makes you untouchable.

With TBC its not easy to grab but if you have someone helping you out the instances are very simple to a lvl 70.

still a nice sheild it was featured in a card of a human paladin who's name escapes me but he along with uther, tirion, and bolvar were the main reasons i became a paladin.

The buff from this item is called Argent Dawn and has the same icon as Devotion Aura.

The buff from Argent Defender adds 15.25% block (on my protection paladin) at level 80, which is (iirc) not affected by diminishing returns.

The buff appears to have no internal cooldown, as testing in The Stockades saw the Argent Dawn buff being refreshed to full duration before expiring.

Definitely get this over the alternatives (even if it looks like a lightsaber, there are other swords that do too); if you are a shield based class who likes to solo old content. This is because once your block value exceeds the maximum damage you would take from a hit, block rating is the best mitigation stat by far.
