The Appearance Collection window says that it's a reward from a quest. According to another website ( http://www.wowdb.com/items/131673-brooding-collar ), that quest is 群龍之首. However, wowhead does not list the Brooding Collar as one of the rewards.

Anyways, I have a question. If I complete this Horde-only quest, do the models become available for transmog on my alliance characters? I completed 群龍之首 recently using a Horde DH, but this item does not seem to have become available for my NE Hunter...

EDIT: I have no mail-wearing horde characters (of high enough level) to test out whether or not Brooding Collar was unlocked from the aforementioned quest in the first place.

UPDATE: Apparently, you cannot unlock this using a Demon Hunter; you need a regular horde character of the appropriate level to run the 群龍之首 quest. Once that quest has been completed, the brooding collar will be unlocked for all mail-wearing characters on both the Alliance and Horde factions, on any server.

How to get it fast if you have no Horde characters: (assuming you have allied chars and heirloom flight path toy)

1. Make an allied race shaman (they start at level 10)
2. Spec resto and queue for BC dungeons until 15 (BC dungeons have quests in them, are easier, and give massive exp). It took me 3 quick dungeons to get from 10 to 15.
3. Fly to Brackenwall Village in Dustwallow Marsh (use your 偵察地圖：與大地之母一起走遍卡林多 heirloom toy to get the flight path).
4. Pick up 群龍之首 from 德拉茲辛比 inside the cave at /way #70 37.0 33.0 Draz'Zilb. Do quest, get 醞釀頭帶!

Can 100% confirm you can transmog this onto an Alliance character.

Solid replacement for the helm on the Black, Blue, and Red Northrend Frozen Mail recolor. Not perfect, but that's a smidgen hard to come by.
