yeah recently, at least of patch 2.3.3, the drop rate is about 10% if that, although when they drop they do have a small chance to drop more than one shaft it's still very low.

Killed about 40 so far and have 5 shafts, which wouldn't be so bad but I picked this quest up at lvl 51/52 and a high percentage of the mobs are grey to me and yield no XP :(

I only completed it for the quest reward, of your lvl50+ I wouldn't bother with this quest unless the quest rewards are of use to you.

My drop rate was 57% but you have to take in account the multiples.
It does even out in the end, its really not that bad :D

Can also farm Firebloom around here.

Although the quest is kind of disheartening in that you can go 5 mobs with no drops, the fact that they normally drop between 3 and 4 when they DO drop makes this par tof the quest not terribly bad. I killed about 28 mobs to get all 20 of the legs. Don't forget that tehre are more spiders along that mountain next to the Cauldron.

just finished on my priest, 20 legs in 17 kills, some didnt have any but most were a 2-3 drop and some 1's and 1 4 drop.

respawns were actually quite good, went to the tanner camp and killed those then went north and killed around the escort, by the time i finished near the dark iron camp there the ones south of me have respawned and the ones at the tanner camp had respawned.

I've killed over 25 spiders and gotten 5 legs.... maybe it's because they are crystal and I'm beating them with a mace?

now keep in mind that 25 spiders should have 200 legs between them and I've found 5 that were intact...

Drop rate is low but don't give up though, some spiders don't drop any and others drop 4 at a time, i killed around 10 without a drop and then the next three had 12 between them.
