For those of you trying this, please don't do what I did. I'd been fishing for about 20 minutes with no sign of a lunker anywhere. I came here, and read up, and found nothing other than you can only have 5 of each type in your bag.

Nat must be working in your fishing shack for you to catch lunkers.

Now I wait for him to come off mission so I can go back to fishing.

After a couple of lures I begin to wonder if this is seriously bugged.
I caught none of these so far.

And Nat visiting from time to time does not help at all.

Also, how many coins do you get from one fish? One? Seriously?

Edit: I noticed that I already have Nat Pagle as best friend, full reputation 6/6, maybe this is the reason that I did
not get a Lunker so far because these also give reputation?

Edit: okay, I finally got one, hurray - this needs to get fixed.

Edit: the 6.1 PTR notes indicate that with 6.0 it is not possible to catch lunkers from pools:
"Lunkers can now be caught from fishing pools and have an improved catch rate with higher fishing skill."

And of course my whole comment is not about catching lunkers while beeing on the quest for them but about catching them after completing the quest and therefore not beeing able to use Nat's Hookshot anymore.

I started in Shadowmoon and sat here fishing for 20 minutes with no luck. Make sure you have 納特的餌鉤 equipped! It seems that you can't catch them without it. Apparently I need to read my quests better. Hope this helps you if you're stuck!

i didn't need to be drunk , you don't need to be drunk to catch them.

Nat was not working in my shack just standing there and as with all lunkers i have caught i wasn't fishing in pools

18 casts. Works in any water in Shadowmoon Valley. I simply chose the closest one outside my garrison

I already had 5 of these in my bag when I had to catch one for Nat Pagle's quest 真正的德拉諾釣手. I caught one, yet it didn't register for some reason. I then put those I had in my bank, and started fishing again and low and behold, the next catch did complete the quest.

I have caught this with a fishing skill of 448 out of a blind lake sturgeon pool, no boosts or rods used - I only have the fishing shack at level 2

I tried to catch it on the point where I farmed Enormous Blind Lake Sturgeon. After watching the waterfall for almost an hour, catching at least 40 more Enormous Blind Lake Sturgeon I finally gave up. Then I returned to the flight master on Darktide Roots, decided to try my luck and fished it on 2nd try. The coordinates: 59,81

I caught one of these while trying to complete the 100 enormous blind sturgeon to get the level 3 shack. Should I save it or can I even use it later once I get the quest?

When fishing for the Blind Lake Sturgeon Lunker to get Nat Pagle as a follower, fishing in the pool at the Shimmer Moor does NOT WORK. I spent hours there, with no lunker. Switched to another location and had it in a few casts. Verified the same effect on a second character.

Can confirm you do not need a level 3 shack. You do not need the special bait. I just caught one with 735 fishing working on the "Blind Lake Sturgeon Angler" achievement. Not that it's much use until I get Nat to give it to :)

If you are Horde you can fish in the cave under the flight point at Exile's Rise 45.9, 25.2. Caught 1 after just 9 casts using fishing hat lure with Dragon Fishing Pole.

for those still fishing in draenor in 2025, this is the quest item lunker, not the blue one you get while fishing the pools for the achievement. the difference is Sturgeon.
