For those of you trying this, please don't do what I did. I'd been fishing for about 20 minutes with no sign of a lunker anywhere. I came here, and read up, and found nothing other than you can only have 5 of each type in your bag.

Nat must be working in your fishing shack for you to catch lunkers.

Now I wait for him to come off mission so I can go back to fishing.

Here's what I found out about catching lunkers:

1. You don't need 1000 skill to catch lunkers.(I've been fishing them up at 880-905), not sure if it helps with the droprates if you get higher.
2. Nat Pagle has to be assigned and working in your garrison fishing shack.
3. El said the bait doesn't affect lunker droprates.(so use it anyway to avoid catching 70% junk fish)
4. Don't fish in pools.

Edit: When 6.1 hits, the higher your fishing skill will also increase the chance of catching lunkers.

I think something is working wrong here.
42 casts in pools - 0 linkers.
3 casts out of pools - got it.
Similar thing happened in Nagrand.
I don't say that lunkers can't be caught in a pool. I've got lunker in pool myself - in Gorgrond. But seems probability of catching them in pools is much smaller than catching them out of pools.

caught lunker after 8 casts @ 70,26 just in lake outside your garrison there in talador, used nats hook ephemeral rod and shiny baubles
i didn't need to be drunk , you don't need to be drunk to catch them.

Nat was not working in my shack just standing there and as with all lunkers i have caught i wasn't fishing in pools

I have cought this with 700 Fishing skill+Worm Supreme(+200 fishing skill) +Fishing Pole( +30 fishing skill)
Anyone can get this with minimal effort.
Worm Supreme can be bought cheap (It's 30 silver on Sylvanas).I doubt its more then 1 gold on any other server.
-You do NOT need to be drunk
It took me about 10 minutes of fishinga at Terokkar Refuge.

On the island at 64:57 facing towards Silthide's spawn point, got this lunker on my 2nd cast. Hope this helps, good luck out there.

The details, 814 fishing, no pool, no bait (just the buff from Nat's Hookshot).
