I just got this from Stolen Present. It makes everything look like it would be from an old scroll. Doesn't seem to be restricted to Winter Veil and it doesn't get consumed on use either.

Just used it again and apart from the buff beeing applied to the list of buffs it really does nothing for me.
My screen stays exactly the same and is nothing like what can be seen in the screenshots.

I am using window-mode-in-fullscreen to make better use of my second monitor.
Just switched to fullscreen and used the item again - no effect at all.

I also tried different display settings and still nothing.

Edit: as mentioned in annother comment here this is fixed by enabling ffglow again with "/console set ffxglow 1".
I really hate the blur but this effect is worth it once in a while. :-)

well the good news is it looks like the daily still only requires level 80 so we can grind for it on all our alts
the bad news is it's neither a toy nor a bind on account item so if you want it on a specific character then the above is null and void
the worst is if you want it on all your characters. happy bloody farming, bah humbug!

Since this is a client side effect only, I would expect a mod to be available to apply this filter any time you want (2m every 30m with this item is lame). The only reason to get this WOULD be if they made it a toy to add to your collection and to work towards achievements.

To anyone wondering why nothing seems to happen while under the effect of this item's buff, type the following in your chat pane; "/console set ffxglow 1"

if you wish to turn this back off again, just type the same thing again only this time change "ffxglow 1" to "ffxglow 0" :)

This option used to be found under the system settings with the name "Fullscreen Glow Effect" - Blizzard at some point removed the setting slider from the menu yet its functionality remains :)

Players who have disabled the death/drunkenness effects using the command /console ffxGlow 0 will not be able to see the effect unless they turn the overlay back on with the command /console ffxGlow 1

Anyone who didn't keep this because it wasn't a toy is going to be quite rustled when 6.1 comes out. I have about two dozen items stashed away, "just in case."

Whenever I go to throw something away, I think back to my Elune's Lantern, which I tossed right before I heard about the toybox.

If you missed this item in 2014 or deleted it because it wasn't a toy back then, you can obtain this again from a 失竊的禮物 which is a reward from the daily quest 那個卑鄙的傢伙... The drop chance isn't high, but I can confirm you can obtain it as I just got it on one of my alts. Good luck to those who need it again.

This item uses glow effects, so if you find it doesn't apply the filter on use, try the following command:
/console ffxGlow 1
Equally if you want to hide the effect you can adapt the command to:
/console ffxGlow 0
You can also use these commands for to toggle other filters such as the ghostly glow when running to your corpse after dying.

Using this item makes water look like it's not even there, so it can look pretty interesting if you are near the ocean (you can see all the way to the bottom).

If you stand on top of the mountain in Dun Morogh and look towards Hillsbrad while using this toy the space where all the water is looks pretty freaky.

I really love this item, I just got it. It's a shame it only lasts for 2 minutes but at least the cooldown is 2 minutes as well so you can just use it indefinitely!
