What is it good for?

Raiding - it gives you a chance to loot 一箱回收物 which lets you upgrade your followers' items faster so you can unlock better missions for them which have good gear for players. You also have the chance to get ilvl 665 BoEs from Salvage which are better than normal Highmaul drops.

Goldmaking - you can get low-level BoEs with fashionable models from Salvage, and ilvl 665 BoEs.

Transmog - at level 3 it gives you the chance to loot 一大箱回收物 (from level 95+ missions) which can contain gear that has a unique model -- see all the models here.

Costs and Blueprints

Small Building Upgrade costs: Level 1 is 0 要塞資源 and , Level 2 is 0 要塞資源 and , Level 3 is 0 要塞資源 and

Level 1 blueprint is available after a short questline at 96, detailed below.

Level 2 Blueprints for Small buildings require you to reach level 96 or complete the 塔拉多爾 Outpost quests. Blueprints cost or free if you have 哨站建築組裝筆記, which you get on completing your Outpost quest chains.

Level 3 blueprints unlock when you are level 100 and have completed 做回收有賺頭. The blueprint costs .

Level 3 blueprints are account-wide. Once you unlock one on a character, it’s available to all characters on your account.

What does it offer?

Level 1: Allows Salvage to be occasionally recovered from missions.

Level 2: Increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover follower items in Salvage.

Level 3: Greatly increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover player items in Salvage.

Salvage Items

回收場等級2: 一袋回收貨物 from 90-94 missions, 一箱回收物 from 95-100 missions.

It's neither nerf nor bug, but rather intended to be a rebalancing that shifts some of the incentives away from spamming low-level missions (even after you have high-level followers), in favor of making high-level missions more rewarding.

We made two changes:

Level 90-94 missions will only award a Bag of Salvaged Goods (level 1 reward) regardless of the level of your Salvage Yard.
Successful Level 100 missions will now always reward a salvage crate appropriate for your current Salvage Yard.

Level 95-99 missions are unchanged. On balance, players who are trying to increase the item level of their followers should be receiving a similar number of follower upgrades as before, but hopefully with a bit less emphasis on logging in every hour or two to cycle through quick low-level missions.

When you hit 96, you can travel directly to Pinchwhistle Gearworks and begin questing.

To get a breadcrumb to head to the Pinchwhistle Gearworks, you must have already completed the Spires of Arak questline for Admiral Taylor's Garrison. This also requires you to have set up your Spires of Arak Outpost.

At this point, you can travel to the Pinchwhistle Gearworks and begin the questline: 消滅真菌, 討厭的害蟲, 孢子再見.

You are then sent to investigate a crash in 母礦號, which has the followup quests 船員團聚 and 開工前先清場.

You're then sent to find her uncle at Pinchwhistle Point in 跟著那輛改裝車！.

Once there, you'll get 正確的零件, 撈點油水, and 實地測試 dealing with the infected goblins and damaged flying machine.

There is a followup round of quests: 孢子浩劫, 預防萬一, and 強力治療.

It's now time to return to your base in 烈焰不滅. Kimzee also offers to become your Garrison follower, now that her uncle is watching the gearworks.

Well worth heading to the south of arak and getting this asap at 96/97.
Once you have the salvage yard built, save the crates until you rank up to rank 2 that way you get follower upgrades. Probably the most valuable building for casuals to get raid level gear quickly because you need to get followers to ilvl 650.

Pinchwhistle Gearworks says "Requires level 96", but I'm at level 96 and I can't see this quest in my garrison...

This should say how to open up the Pinchwhistle quests. Just getting the Garrison Outpost in Southpost at level 96 doesn't open it up. I've done a few more quests too, and it's still not available.

EDIT: Here you go. You have to do the quests at Admiral Taylor's Garrison. After you do all those there, you're given a quest to go back to Southport, and the first quest in the chain is now available.

Why does the Death Knight armor look the exact same as the armor you can buy from the ebon hold for 1 copper each? Seems like a waste to me.

Is it bug that i'm rarely getting any crates at lvl salvage yard?
I'm yet to see any follower item...

Unlike what is stated above, No breadcrumb quest is required in order to begin the quest chain to obtain the 回收場，第1級. As long as you are at least level 96, you may go directly to 金茲‧急嘯 at Pinchwhistle Gearworks (61.4, 72.8 - Spires of Arak) and begin the series of quests offered there.

The quest chain itself begins with 消滅真菌 and two other quests and will come to completion with 烈焰不滅 after approx. 10-12 quests. The plans are the reward for Flame On!.

Alright so I'm having a bit of a dilemma and I'm wondering if anyone has figured this out.

So having lower level followers, really anything below 100 but especially the low 90s, will cause appropriate low level missions to be available at your garrison. These missions are almost always relatively short, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour an a half, meaning that you can complete a lot more of these than you can level 100 missions, or follower ilevel 615, 630 or 645 missions. Because of this, keeping a few followers low level would give you more salvage, and this is where my dilemma lies:

Keeping low level followers --> more low level missions to complete faster = more salvage
Keeping low level followers --> less high level missions = less chance at missions that have good rewards?

Would only having 100/high ilevel followers increase your chance of getting, say, a 645 mission giving highmaul gear? And if that's the case, would the salvage yard become obsolete?
At my current rate (with low level follower missions constantly running), I've gotten almost 100 salvage boxes in under a week, and gotten a lot of useful things out of them. However, I'm considering leveling all of my followers to 100 or even deactivating some in order to increase my odds of getting higher ilevel follower missions (if that's how it works)

So really my question is: is this how this works?

For those saying level 3 yields less, here a statement from Blizzard:

Why is the loot table on level 3 salvage crates so damn big?
A common misconception is that large tables necessarily mean more randomness, or that items are competing with each other. There are lots of ways of constructing treasure tables to avoid this. After many reports from players concerned with seemingly poor yield of follower rewards from Level 3 salvage crates, we took a really thorough look through the data and tested extensively to make 100% sure we weren't missing something.

A level 3 salvage crate actually gives you a guaranteed direct pull from the level 2 salvage loot table, PLUS additional chances to get transmog, legacy, or current items for your character to use or sell. The loot table is large to offer tons of variety, and there are definitely some jackpot items in there (Everburning Candle says hi), but it's not coming at the expense of the core follower items or resources you got from level 1 and level 2.

Blizzard just hot-fixed they way you obtain bags and crates from missions

We made two changes:

Uhh...some of the "resembles" are way off, a set does not resemble another set just cause the colour matches...Some look nothing like what they are claimed to resemble.

The chance on this is small, very small. The comment to 一大箱回收物 by Tirain claims a drop rate of 0,5%. I may be unlucky, but i never saw anything purple/epic in those boxes in the last weeks, and i opened many dozens (around 50? for sure). The tiny chance is nice, but for me no reason to stick to such a building - no fan of lottery ;)

I have completed the achievements to unlock Salvage Yard rank 3 on my main.
Why can my alt not upgrade to rank 3? It says I don't have the plans for rank 3 - where do I get it?

When I hit level 96, I went straight to Spires and did just the quests I needed to open the Salvage Yard. The xp was enough to get me to 97. This was with the normal heirlooms, no rings, and no xp buff potions or any other kind of xp booster.

I did grab a few of the treasures while I was there, and killed the rare spawns that were right along where the quests are, but that's it.

Can anyone from Blizzard or the gaming community confirm if Demon Hunters (once upgraded their garrison) get sets unique to their class also from Salvage? I'm guessing not as it would mean extra work for old content but still a confirmation would be grand. Ty :]

An easier way to unlock these armor sets now that WoD is outdated is to do a class trial of the class you'd like the armor set from. Want the mage armor? Do create a character at login and do class trial, and it unlocks the armor. You don't even have to complete the tutorial; after you login, you can log right back out and delete the character, and the armor will be in your appearance tab.
