Arcane Mage Rotation in The War Within
Arcane Mage has a lot going on and can seem overwhelming at first; however, once you get in and start playing you will quickly realize it's relatively simple, there are a few key concepts you should keep in mind as we proceed about our multiple resources and cooldown usage:
Mana Management -
This is something many newer players struggle with, however it is important you remember going out of mana is perfectly fine, especially after your miniburn. Simply use

s and continue with the rotation. Mana problems can be tilting, but we are a cooldown spec first and our main cooldowns give us all the mana we need for our cooldown windows. Just remember to breathe when you run out of mana; Barrage and move on!
Don't sit on cooldowns -
Our cooldowns are short, it is almost always better to squeeze in as many as you can over the course of a fight or dungeon. That said, don't be afraid to volunteer to hold cooldowns for a specific problem in an encounter, as one of the strengths of short cooldowns is to provide targeted damage when you need it most without losing many uses. But as I said above with regards to mana management, your cooldowns are what give you mana to play with and also make that mana worth more, make sure you're using them as much as possible to fuel the arcane engine!

and doing so makes Barrage hit a lot harder and cleave when talented. Arcane Charges increase the mana cost of Arcane Blast and its damage. This creates a loop where you want to use Barrage to reduce the mana spend at times so you can ensure a successful Miniburn. Take your time and build muscle memory for the relationship your spells have with Arcane Charge generation. In AOE the opposite is often true where you usually want to get 4 Arcane Charges and then Barrage.
Arcane Salvo -
秘法齊射
is now essentially our fourth resource along with Mana Management, our cooldowns, and Arcane Charges. This resource is fairly straight-forward, usually using

at max stacks or in conjunction with a way to quickly refund Salvo stacks or Arcane Charges. There are a lot of ways that Salvo interacts with each hero talent and our spells and abilities and as such you should definitely spend the time to read those talents and understand the interactions as they will be relevant later on. Remember you can use the search function in the talent system to identify the talents that actually interact with Salvo!

Arcane Mage openers and how you use your cooldowns is entirely dictated by hero talent choice, with ]Spellslinger having a more conventional opener and cooldown use and ]Sunfury being more exotic by using

window after. No other choices you make have any impact on how you use your cooldowns.

Arcane Mage Cooldowns Not Used by Rotation Assist
When using both Assisted Highlight and Single-Button Assistant as Arcane, it will use all of your offensive abilities, albeit a bit suboptimally. You will still be responsible for the following:

Items such as potions and on use trinkets
Racial Abilities
Arcane Mage Major Cooldowns
Arcane only has a few cooldowns,

. Below are some considerations when using these:
Arcane Surge
秘法奔騰
is simple, you use it, it spends all of your mana, does a burst of damage that hits 5 targets, then square root damage beyond that.
秘法奔騰
then buffs you for 15-seconds, granting 35% additional spell damage and 425% mana regen. There are other properties of this that come from hero talents.
Spellslinger changes
秘法奔騰
in one major way,

in Midnight causes your Surge hit to generate 8x

s and doubles Splinter generation during its buff;

also buffs Surge damage a decent chunk. Keep in mind that Splinters for Spellslinger are fuel for the fire, it's what makes Spellslinger work.
Sunfury has a few ways that it alters

. First, when you cast Surge, any

you have are consumed and added to your Surge buff for the duration of Surge. Second, when Surge ends, you gain

, enabling a powerful burst of damage, ultimately extending your burst window; there is also a talent, though we won't take it for now, that can extend Surge's window a couple seconds.

is a major reason why we cast

late in our Surge window as Sunfury. Lastly, when you cast Surge, you spawn an

, which, for every Spellfire Sphere you consumed, cast empowered spells and the bird will also cast regular spells too. The bird is really complex in how it works, it detects whether it's single target or AOE and has a different action list based on this, it can cast it's own version of the following spells:

None of this is really important, it's just cool to know.
Touch of the Magi

is a great nuke, but it has a few caveats in how to use it. First, Touch gives 4x

s meaning you can use it to quickly start full-power, sometimes, in easier content, it's better to fire and forget Touch just to get 4x Charges quickly for a quick
秘法彈幕
! Next, you want to ensure your target will live the entire length usually because it does nearly all of its damage after the duration; this is exacerbated by our last Apex talent point,

which causes Touch to echo damage for 6-seconds, essentially making Touch a 18-second duration affair. Touch can be talented to cause a damage proc on direct damage via

. After all these bolt-on effects, you also must consider that Touch's overall damage output is dependent on your ability to deal damage to your target during Touch's duration. Ultimately, this all adds up to a lot of damage investment over the 18-second period; you'll usually want to use it on the toughest enemy in the pack or the one most likely to kill the group if it doesn't die quickly!
All of that to say, this is a 45-second cooldown, don't sit on it more than a few seconds, especially the Touch that you're not pairing with
秘法奔騰
.
Evocation
喚醒
is very straight forward, simply use it if you're out of mana and can't afford to cast another spell and have no other procs and it will restore all of your mana. Typically, you wouldn't bother with this if
秘法奔騰
is coming up shortly.

- Clipping does not seem to be worthwhile currently. However, if you are at certain haste thresholds, this particular cast can be valuable to clip if it will result in more Arcane Barrages during Arcane Soul.
- Prior to Arcane Soul, you should try to find a way to spend your Clearcasting procs, cast Arcane Barrage prior to Arcane Soul; this sounds confusing at first, but you build a ryhtym of dumping some Arcane Missiles, using Touch of the Magi, dropping a huge Arcane Barrage, then build back up for Arcane Soul.
Currently, the talents Intuition from the spec tree, Polished Focus from the ]Spellslinger tree reinforce casting Arcane Barrage when you have maximum stacks of Arcane Salvo.
Tips:
- If Touch of the Magi is coming off cooldown in the next 4-5s, try to hold off on this if you can.
- If you are playing the Orb Barrage talent, you do not necessarily need to build up
秘法充能
s for this line.
Currently, the talent Intuition from the spec tree reinforces casting Arcane Barrage when you have maximum stacks of Arcane Salvo.
Tips:
- If Touch of the Magi is coming off cooldown in the next 4-5s, try to hold off on this if you can.

- If Touch of the Magi or Arcane Surge is coming off cooldown in the next 4-5s, try to hold off on this if you can.
- A common question here is, why 17? Really a lot of values work here, it could just as easily be 16 ,18, or 19. The idea is that you want to maximize your potential Meteorites from Glorious Incandescence, but also once you get close enough to Intuition, just go for it. The best results here will come from weaving Arcane Blast in to maximize Meteorite generation before casting Arcane Barrage with Clearcasting.
Tips:
- Due to the hero talent Sunfury Execution, we will always try to Arcane Barrage while Touch of the Magi is active on our target to leverage this ability.
Orb Mastery, along with Splintering Orbs, helps this build work, however, High Voltage offsets this relationship due to current tuning. As a result, when we'll only use Arcane Orb at a higher priority than Arcane Missiles when consuming Clearcasting when we have Orb Mastery but not High Voltage.
Overpowered Missiles gives nearly full Arcane Salvo stacks, so it's a good practice to clear the stacks you have before your spend it. No need to do this if you don't have any Arcane Salvo stacks.
Evocation is not worth using if Arcane Surge is about to come off cooldown, make sure you're not wasting your time channeling this just to spend the mana with Surge.
Utilizing your cooldowns as they become available, timing them with other cooldowns, and overlapping properly.
Following the Assisted Combat suggestions exactly, or only pressing the Single-Button without any other buttons being used.

There is an error in the advanced rotation notes. You are advising to cast rune after reaching 4 charges at 0:00, then touch at 0:15. 30 seconds later, at 0:45, it is stated that touch is ready again- this is not the case. The cooldown is 45s and it will have been 30s since you last used it.
I think what you meant to put here is that at 0:45 rune of power would be ready, at which point you should hold rune for 15 seconds waiting for touch to come off cd.
It may also be worth noting that you can save time generating 4 Arcane Charges by using an Arcane Orb at the start, and touching on Arcane Missile spam with Arcane Echo talented may not be a bad idea.

In your cooldown use section, you use arcane power 1min45 s after it was first used when the cd is 2minutes, your mana will never go down in aoe situation so there is no conserve phase there fyi, you do not talk about using mana gem in the opener or how the mastery/haste balance highly impacts the conserve and burn phase.
This guide is either not up to date or written by someone that does not play arcane. I think you should just remove this page, it is only confusing for new players and irritating for people that know the spec and simply want to get better at it.

step(s) of the priority sequence or rotation, as even if the spell often comes after

, for example, and it is self-evident, obvious, or assumed in such cases that it will be used with 4 Arcane Charges, the spells may not always line up that way — at least I'm not experienced enough to tell that they'd consistently line up. Thus, if we should always hit 4 Arcane Charges before popping

for that, then, in my opinion, this should be emphasized.

Thanks for writing the guide. There are a couple of things about radiant spark that I do not understand.
1. The dot lasts for 10 sec. Do you have to cast the spells for the progressive damage buff within those 10 sec? For instance if it takes my 12 sec to cast 4 blasts due to movement is that fine, or do I lose out on the last one?
2. I think the damage buff starts at 10% and grows to 50% after the 4th spell?
3. The tooltip seems to say damage buff ends after the 4th spell, but the guide says to do a 5th blast/barrage. Does the 5th still have the big buff?
From watching the video, it seems that the buff builds as you cast spells and ends after the 5th spell, or 10 sec which ever comes first. Is that correct?

I'm a bit unsure about how exactly the 4 vs 5 AB casts with Harmonic Echo works, so I want to share my understanding of the mechanics and see if it tracks.
Normally we can queue the big Barr with the 5th AB, because since they both "release" simultaneously, they both benefit from the final stack of Radiant Spark. This lets us get a sort of 2 for 1 with the final charge, increasing damage in single target.
The Harmonic Echo effect causes a 25% aoe echo to spells that LAND while the debuff is active, so if we cast the 5th AB with a queued Barr, they will still both benefit from the Radiant Spark damage increase, but only the 5th AB will cause the echo, since the debuff is gone by the time the Barr lands. Because of this, in multi-target situations we want to sacrifice the extra AB cast to cause the Barr to activate the final echo, which results in higher aoe damage because the Barr hits much harder than the extra AB.
Is this a correct interpretation of the mechanics? If so, I have two follow-up questions:
1) Is the 0.1 second delay from 4th AB to Barr just to ensure the big Barr isn't queued with the 4th AB, which would cause it to only benefit from the 2nd strongest Radiant Spark buff?
2) I'm assuming the math works out such that (5th AB + echo of 5th AB) > (echo of big Barr) in single target, but (5th AB + aoe echo of 5th AB) < (aoe echo of big Barr) in multi-target, which results in still using the 5th AB in single target only?

Scratching my head over recommending that you spam AM to 20 stacks of Arcane Harmony in the opener yet not taking Improved Arcane Missiles. I'm sure the math must bear you out on that for you to recommend that but it seems really counter intuitive.

What's the point of the convoluted "/castsequence reset=10 Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi" macro? Why not just cast Touch before barrage? It's off the GCD so you can cast them simultaneously without the risk of having barrage land before touch applies, at the cost of losing minimal touch duration.

Is it possible to provide a casual rotation with associated talent tree with like 4 to 5 spells? I'm sorry but this rotation, only 1% of the player base will try to do that so it's useless for everyone else.

This needs a Simplified version.
I don't doubt that this is the mathematical optimum and that some players can pull it off but for most players, this is realistically unattainable, especially as an entrypoint.
Something like Surge -> Spark+Touch+Gem -> Burn -> preserve when CD's run out -> Burn leading up to Spark and Touch coming off CD -> Evocation -> Spark+Touch+Gem -> Burn -> preserve ->repeat can be done by most players with decent results and can teach you the funcamental class mechanics. The fully optimized rotation is something you can get into once you have a more profound understanding of the Class itself and the mechanics that prop it up.

Any Insight on the Surge -> Evocation at ~10 seconds Surge remaining -> Touch at 2 seconds Surge remaining that is sometimes being played?
I assume it might be too confusing for a large number of people but I'd love to read about where it's better to play it this way, e.g. Nexus King Mythic intermission and why.
