Rare Battle Pets

Afternoon, everyone! I was wondering if there is a guide somewhere (I haven't found one yet) for the Uncommon/Rare (green/blue) battle pets, their levels and where they're located? Or is where these rares are completely random?

Rares are located in the exact same places as the poors, commons, and uncommons. It doesn't matter whether you're farming level 1 Robo-Chicks in Orgrimmar or level 15 Robo-Chicks in Winterspring, they're going to have the exact same chance of being blue.

I can tell you where I got my rarest pet yet (though I have only been taming pets for a few days)

As soon as you have any pet lvl 16, go to Deadwind Pass, and enter the Master's Cellar (its a zone beneath Kharazan, OUTSIDE THE RAID.) at 12 am servertime.

About a dozen Restless Shadelings spawn. Only a couple dozen spawn per day, only in that cellar, and only in that time-frame. Because so few of them spawn, their chances of yielding a rare are among the highest on the game. I only needed to capture about 4 before I got my rare.

Also unlike most wild pets, these guys come in groups of 1, not 3. Keep that in mind.

And the pet itself is ridiculously good. Not that its particularly strong or anything, but rather, because its VERY hard to kill.

Its favored stat is Health (at lvl 19 it has more HP than my lvl 22 Onyxia Whelp) and 2 of its skills give it insane healing every round. It has Plagued Blood, which makes him heal himself for about 40 hp every time he attacks any target infected with that debuff, and he has Death Coil which deals undead damage, and heals the shadeling for 50% of its damage done. So that's about 130 healing every round while attacking at the same time.

Due to being undead it also comes back to life after being killed, allowing you to infect the target with plagued blood once more.

Truly wonderful pet.

You can eyeball whether a pet is rare or not from it's stats but the easiest way is to use one of the many pet battle addons written, as pet quality is available for them to display via UI modifications. I can recommend Pet Theory.

I'm fairly certain that all pets that can be rare have the same (fairly low) chance to spawn as rare. If someone tells you otherwise I can pretty much guarantee you they haven't tamed enough to have a sample size at which any such probability can be guessed at with accuracy.

So far the only way I've been able to tell what 'might' be a rare is by their name. Such as, in Duskwood I was leveling pet and fighting Forest Spiderling (or some such 'whatever' spiderling) which are in abundance and it 'entered the battle' and it was called a 'Crimson Spiderling' and after I captured it it turned out to be rare. Others, though, it seems to be random.

The name of a pet has no impact on (or is even at all related to) it's rarity. The name is just the name. Please don't spread misinformation. Also, there isn't any pet called Crimson Spiderling in the game. Even if there was, chances are it would have the exact same chance to spawn as a rare as any other wild battle pet in the game and you were simply lucky by having the first one you saw be a rare.

I have tamed well over 30 Lost of Lordaeron and have not seen a rare. I think calling it a not so rare-rare gives a lot of false hope.

It's RNG- my very first Lost of Lordaeron was a rare, but I must have battled 50 Snow Cubs before I got a rare one. What these pets have over other rare ones, though, is that they are plentiful and have a pretty quick respawn rate, so you aren't going to run out of pets to battle until you get your rare. Something like the Giraffe Calf, where you'll be lucky to find 1-2 a day when camping for a sizable period of time, is much harder to get as rare, because you're not getting as many chances to find one in the same period of time.

The Giraffe took me months. I got lucky on the others. The only one I have yet to grab is the Minfernal.

I think that the server you see on the flightpath is empty, and that is why all the hard to find pets are always up when you fly over. I don't think flying and landing puts you into a different server than you'd have been on if you had not taken the flight path- you just see the ghost server when you're actually ON the flight path.

They spawn in two places actually. The cellar, and then the somewhat larger underground cave that is nearby. You have a fairly good amount of tries for a rare. Getting my Restless Shadeling was definitely less annoying than getting a rare of all the little Serpents, the Wildhammer gryphon, or the little sporeggar guy. (I have yet to find rares of those, there are always so few of them spawning meh.)

Thanks for the above info guys! To follow up I went into this zone. Master's entrance is located at 47.7, 78.3. This entrance also turns into a cave. There is a second entrance as well. There were over 30 of these Restless Shadelings b/t the two locations. Only one rare out of the lot. I look forward to working with it. As an aside there are also Arcane Eyes here that look pretty cool. Found a rate after 3 tries w them.

No freaking idea how to do this properly so hopefully someone finds this and puts it where it needs to go.

Found a rare Spawn pet. Lucky Yi. located in VoTFW at 40.5 x 43.7. took a screenshot but have no idea how to submit it. I'll check back on this post and if someone gives me the info I'll upload it.
