It is possible to complete the normal races on an account without DF / TWW. You can pick up the quest in your faction capital city and choose your dragon. When you start a race, your dragon riding action bar is empty - because you don't have DF and therefore have no dragon riding skills. However, you do get Skyward Ascent via the space bar, and for the normal races with the wind pushes, that was enough to complete them. I didn't try Advanced or Reverse... :)

I just want to express my disappointment that in 2025, the 2nd Outland Cup was supposed to be slated on July 10th, but was for some reason canceled. Instead, the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom Cups were edged into 2025 as the only two, since they had last been held in 2023.

If Blizzard is going in order of the releases of each Cup, here's how it's been (and will be) up to 2025:

Kalimdor Cup Aug 15 - 28, 2023
Eastern Kingdoms Cup Oct 4 - 17, 2023
Outland Cup Jan 18 - 31 2024
Northrend Cup Apr 30 - May 13, 2024
Kalimdor Cup Feb 25 - Mar 10, 2025
Eastern Kingdoms Cup Aug 26 - Sep 8, 2025
Outland Cup projection date Feb 26 - Mar 10, 2026

It appears that the first four Cups were spread out approximately 2-3 months apart in light of promoting the Dragonflight expansion in 2023-2024. As I write this in the first season of TWW, we are seeing the Cup events few and far between now. By the looks of it, they are only holding two per year, and going in the order of: Kalimdor / Eastern Kingdoms / Outland / Northrend. Rinse, repeat.

We had a long, ten month gap between the Northrend Cup in May 2024 until March 2025 to see another, and then it is a six month gap until the next.

If you have the transmog sets from each Cup, congratulations. For the rest of you waiting, good luck. It will be a long wait. (I currently am wanting Outland, but missed the only one they had, and now have to wait at least until 2026 to see it come back.)

EDIT: Outland Cup is now slated for February 24, 2026.
EDIT: Outland Cup on now, Feb 24th, 2026. The big change since the previous cups is that we no longer have Valor to contend with, making the "Advanced" courses moot. Anyone can sail through it the same way as going through the regular course. It just allows for the potential of more badges to be earned. With 12 courses in Outland, you have the potential to make 36 badges minimum just for completing the runs at Bronze. Get gold in all three runs per timekeeper's course, and you have the potential for 84 badges per course. (Regular/Advanced/Reversed.) If these seem out of reach, just use your alts to collect badges to purchase items.

Hoping we will get something new this time just like the Eastern Kingdom cup and unlike the Kalimdor cup. Still hoping for Pandaria cup up until Shadowlands cup, cuz all those would be in the game (atleast according to datamined achievements)
Remix: Mist of Pandaria would have been the perfect time for the Pandaria cup aswell :/
