Rexxar is a order hall champion hunter's can recruit while leveling in Legion. The quest to acquire begins in the lodge upon reaching lvl 103, and involves a bit of a Don't Starve-esque survival quest. 夜晚求生. This quest chain will only show up if you've done the other order hall quests up this point including a 2hr and 8hr campaign board mission, so if you're leveling quickly you'll likely be using the starter champion (艾瑪芮爾‧影衛) as you combat ally for a while.

Rexxar can be assigned as your Combat Ally while not being utilized to complete Class Hall Missions. This costs 50 order hall resources and lasts until he is removed via the mission board. Rexxar acts in a similar manner to WoD bodyguards except he is much more resilient overall, spawning automatically after dropping combat if they should happen to die or get separated from you. They also do not attack anything until you do and in general don't seem to aggro things, although they can taunt/pull threat once they are engaged.

Rexxar will melee enemies and randomly summons one of 3 pets (Misha, Huffer, and Leokk) to aid you. The pets persist for 30 seconds and then another is summoned. Huffer does a small pulsing AoE, Leokk boosts your dmg by 3%, while Misha attempts to taunt, I found bodyguard DPS quite respectable for the leveling process (up to 15% of my dmg single target), but tended to be fairly inconsequential at 800ilvl (like 2-3%). Completing quests will earn your currently assigned combat ally xp toward raising their level to 110 and then to improving their quality/rarity. In Rexxar's case this quest xp will allow him to keep up to your level and level much faster than doing table missions and as such it is recommended you assign him or Emmarel as a combat ally for a significant portion of your Legion leveling.

As quality/rarity improves champions will earn up to 2 slots to be assigned with specialized equipment. Some of these grant bonuses if you complete world quests while they are assigned as a combat ally. Of particular benefit are ones granting additional Order Hall resources for every world quest completed. These bonus resources along with potentially more quickly ranking up of your champion (compared to doing just xp missions) are the main reasons to use a combat ally @ 110. Rexxar does have the additional side benefit of increasing your personal dmg by 3% ~1/3 of the time, which imo makes him marginally superior to Addie as a bodyguard. Emmarel is also fine options being good for AoE burst.

Outside of his use as Combat Ally Rexxar loses slightly to Addie as a Mission Counter. Her ability to complete missons more quickly can always be applied, where as Rexxar's bonus success rate only applies if he the only champion, and Addie joins at a higher level if you've been neglecting their levels. I recommend only having either Addie or Rexxar on your final roster of Champions, but the difference are minor enough to leave it to personal choice.

Edit for 7.2 Rexxar remains the weakest Survival Counter for hunters, and compared to 暗夜女獵手希蕊妮 he is basically inferior in every way. She's a more damaging bodyguard, and better for completing missions. Sadly she can't do both roles simultaenously, but even so, most complete champion rosters won't use Rexxar except as a temporary swap in for a particular set of missions, or if he was already fully equipped with gold/ap generating bodyguard items.

At level 103 two Champion questlines are available:

1. 徵募雷克薩, 生存技能 & 夜晚求生, which give 勇士：雷克薩 that grants the Champion follower 雷克薩.

2. 把希萊爾叫回來 and 野獸咬噬, which gives 勇士：獸王希萊爾 that grants the Champion follower 獸王希萊爾.

To unlock these, you'll first need to complete a seemingly unrelated short quest chain in Val'sharah, offered by 艾瑪芮爾‧影衛 at Trueshot Lodge at 41.7 59.99 who gives you the breadcrumb: 出手相救. Turn this in to 哈德森‧克勞福 and do 不死災禍 and 誘捕刺客. At this point, 雪羽 should appear beside 哈德森‧克勞福 and offer you 緊急召喚.

Note that 雪羽 didn't appear for me until I'd obtained all three artefact weapons.

雷克薩 is in 高嶺 at Cliff's Edge, which is 200 yards NW of The Witchwood flight point at 36.73 35.39. For those without coordinates, that's on the first E of Edge on the map. Hints: You only need one piece of wood per quest to light the fire, berries aren't necessary, you only need four pieces of cooked meat to survive "overnight".

獸王希萊爾 is 斯鐸海姆, just North of Weeping Bluffs, about 300 yards North of the nearest flight path at Skyfire Triage Camp. Hint: Deliver Zoarg's Head to 大法師蘭登, as 獸王希萊爾 really doesn't want it!

Rexxar's camp is located in Cliff's Edge at 36.7, 35.4. Take The Witchwood flight path (via Ralat Smokehoof) then follow the path to the northwest past some Spinetusk Piglets.

I've read some of the speculation about what it takes to make him recruitable. For me it seemed like a few things had to happen. Hitting level 103, getting all three of your Legendary Weapons, and completing the entire Lending a Hand quest chain.

So I have Rexxar as a bodyguard and he's been fighting with me in the wild, but sometimes he disappears and I don't think it's because he was killed. Does anyone know how to get him back?

Rexxar is by far my favourite combat ally. I play MM Hunter as my main and due to my talents, I don't have a pet, but with the ability to misdirect to Rexxar, it gives me the freedom to pull larger packs of mobs and solely concentrate on dps'ing them down, with no threat.

A lot of people will go with Emmarel Shadewarden, but you only get assistance, when you activate her Volley. With Rexxar, he's with you the whole time, he offers a small amount of damage, but it's the ability to misdirect, that interests me the most. It's well worth completing the quest chain and waiting for level 103, the ease of questing with this Champion makes this worthwhile!

A couple of minor issues.

Rexxar disappearing.
If you do get this ally and he disappears, simply re-log and he'll be back by your side. It's not an ideal solution, but one that works. Hopefully, the Devs will find a fix to this.

PvP
If you're playing on a PvP realm and you get killed by someone on the opposing faction, when you res, for some unknown reason, Rexxar will spawn and he will automatically go back and attack the player you died to, if he's still in the area.

Rexxar is a great combat ally, for a lot of the reasons listed in other comments.

But there is a glaring negative about him: His mount. He rides around on a giant dread raven, and on quests that require a lot of clicking or picking up or focusing on items, he is CONSTANTLY in the way on that mount. It's very aggravating.

While I think this is mentioned in another post in reference to Rexxar just dropping in during combat, it needed some clarification for me (I thought that was after another step in getting him to appear the first time). Once you select Rexxar as your combat ally at the Class Hall follower mission table, you don't need to do anything else to get him to accompany you. (In WoD, you had to find and ask the follower to go on patrol with you.) In Legion, you won't need to find Rexxar and ask him to accompany you; he just appears once you leave the protected area. He will simply appear after you leave the lodge and surrounding area.

Biggest PITA when you are trying to tame as hunter, he keeps killing everything... grr. Had to go back to my command table and dismiss him from bodyguard slot, wish we could do that just by clicking him.
