Highest available rank obtained via normal Player versus Player for the Horde.
Title is no longer obtainable due the new PvP system that does not require ranks.

Abolished in Patch 1.12 "The Drums of War"
High Warlord was rank 14 in the Horde ranking system just to inform those that didnt know about the rank system

Blizzard has been talking about implementing these titles again, but as far as I'm aware they've not said anything specific about the conditions for obtaining them.

The description says "Earn
ed
the title", referring to the past. So I am assuming that players who've achieved a higher rank will earn credit for the lower ranks as well. Though we will not know until the time comes.

The only way to get this Achievement, is to have PvP'd a bit before Burning Crusade was released.
High Warlord
Horde
only
Rank 14 (of 14)
These ranks are no longer attainable.

Ha... "a bit". Try at least 8 hours a day, every day.

Try 6 months.
Eh, you must not have been invited to the premade parties =D. 6 months is a pretty long time, 13-14 only took me an extra month of being #1 in honor every week.

High Warlord is one of the best titles in the game when you have it everyone notices you.

Blizzard has officialy stated in BlizzCon 09 that PvP titles like High Warlord and others are returning in next expansion World Of Warcraft Cataclysm

Honestly. The thought of them returning the old honor system makes me happy yet #$%^es me off at the same time. I mean, I don't know about the rest of you. But i did the grind at 60. And although i only got to rank 9. It was difficult. IMO, Noob's shouldnt be given the chance to earn those title's. Since the people that have main's from Pre-TBC worked their asses off for them. :) Thats just my thoughts.

Try 10-16 hours a day with no break. Also missing one day means that you've just added another week just to catch up. And during this time, you have to continually win the BG in the fastest time possible (no AV-akers here).

I saw that a Screenshot hasnt been added yet so I took that liberty.

The problem with what you are saying is that it would be no where near the level of work we did if you are able to acheive this in one day (or even a month). It's sort of like saying instead of jogging 100 miles, I'll sprint 100 yards and call it even. (Actually it's more like logging on a treadmill, since if you stop, you get pulled back. And as you get closer to your goal, the treadmill goes faster and faster.)
The Rank 14 titles aren't about doing something difficult for a day. It was more about endurance and consistency.
What we went through was 6 months of non-stop pvp. This means, you have 5-10 min meal breaks, you can sleep for 8 hours at first, but during the last month, you get to sleep for 4 hours each day (no such thing as weekends). And that's it. You don't have time for anything else. You don't even have enough time to sleep near the end. If you slept in day, you just reset your progress by a week or more.
I can't think of anything in this game (or any other) that has these kind of requirements. Some of the self-proclaimed hardcore raiding guilds (4-5 nights a week), wanted in the action thinking it was easy and decided to form a group against ours. After realizing that they couldn't farm more honor than us, they joined with us. The thing was, these guys that would raid 30-40 hours a week burned out after a month of doing the grind. (They stopped raiding to do this). They couldn't believe the dedication required to do this.
A regular occurence in the pvp team that I lead was that people would fall asleep on the keyboard while in a bg. We even had to exchange phone numbers so we could call the person to wake them up.
Think of it this way - during the last month of my 6 month grind, the honor farmed was something like:
Week 1 - 900K
Week 2 - 940K
Week 3 - 980K
Week 4 - 1.2MM
Given that I was in a premade, and we had instant queues, the rate that we could farm honor was about 10K per hour. So if we break it down to hours played:
Week 1 - 90 Hours
Week 2 - 94 Hours
Week 3 - 98 Hours
Week 4 - 120 Hours
There's a total of 168 hours in a week. So, consider that you need to eat, sleep, go bathroom, shower, etc.
Now the last week is 48 hours of time not pvping. If you spend every minute of the time not pvping to sleep, you would get 6.8 hours of sleep per day. But of course you need to eat, turn on the computer, and do other things, so you wind up with about 4 hours per day to sleep.
Remember, I'm only talking about the last month of 6 months. Although, the each week gets tougher and tougher, so let's say on average, we multiply the effort by 3.
So the equivalent I would be thinking of would be 1206 (or 50 full 24 hour days) hours of effort in 3 months.
Best thing I could think of is that Blizz allows you a 3 month time period to obtain 1206 hours of pvp, and each hour you miss per day, you would lose about 100 hours of progress.
This would still be easier than the old system, since you wouldn't need to compete with your own faction (nothing like pvping 100 hours that week to get top standing and have someone come in above you at 105, meaning you have to redo that week all over again).
But I think this would more accurately relfect the time and effort invovled in getting the HWL title without all the server drama that came with it.

On our server, the high pop side (alliance) would have their own premade teams. They had really long queues, and would hop on our vent server to chat with us while they waiting for a bg to pop.
Basically, they would roll the pugs fast, but when they came across our team, they would still play to win. I would say they won around 50% of the time at first.
Then we realized that playing them is a waste of our time, and we would just afk out of the match if we saw them. No point in spending 30 mins on a fun game - we were there to farm honor. Easier to afk out and find a pug to play against for a 4 minute win in AB.
So in effect, while the alliance had horrible queues, they still had the ability to obtain more honor than a single, lone, pvper that played 24 hours a day.

If a Grand Marshal does a faction change to horde, he/she gets the High Warlord title instead. I think there should be something else for faction changers...For ally going horde:
Forsaken Grand Marshal
. As for hordies going alliance, i don't know.
I would like to see new ranks in Cata, not the old ones again. That way the new players can't recieve our old ranks, yet they can show how strong they are (now!).

I am all for the reintroduction of the old PvP titles, but for those of us who have them from vanilla, there should be some kind of special reward, something to symbolize all of the hard work and dedication.

It's a different story now, but back in Vanilla, I don't believe anyone gained this or the GM title without the use of bots or account-sharing, both of which are breaches of the EULA.
It simply was
NOT POSSIBLE
to play the game that much AND eat, drink, sleep, use the bathroom, maintain a reasonable level of personal hygiene, have a social life, have a relationship and hold down a job (or maintain good grades at school) at the same time.
A friend of mine was aiming for the GM title, but he could not keep up the requirements for it, so he settled for rank 11 (for the mount), and was so burned out after he got there he canned his account for 4 months.

Blizzard ruined the glory of this title by implementing this into RBGS, now every schmuck with a credit card worth of $200~ can get this title by paying the wintraders to boost them to 2400.i know there are legit players who got to 2400 in the right way, and i feel bad for them because of their dedication.

I've played WoW off and on for years, and one of the best times was when I spent most of my time playing with the main Horde pvp "HWL" group. Pretty much everyone was a General, except for a few Warlords who took turns going for High Warlord (they even had an agreement with the main Alliance pvp group so they would take turns letting each person get it instead of all-out competing.)
I never went for HWL or even Warlord, but I had so many good times running with that group. There were lots of fun personalities, and I was a shaman and we were soooo op for pvp back then, and all the fun personalities were also really skilled and disciplined pvp'ers so we steamrolled. Good times, tho it sucked seeing half the ppl who got HWL have nervous breakdowns.

Just in case you didn't know, you can earn this title by achieving 2.4k rating in Blitz.
