It sounds like this is one that the entire raid may not get, but individually it will be possible. That is to say, if someone screws up, it won't screw up your chances of getting the achievement.

In order to obtain this achievement, you must avoid Lava Strike, NOT the flame wall. Lava Strike is a targeted aoe, similar to Void Reaver's Arcane Orb. It is an individual achievement.

I don't know if it's bugged (or working as intended) but if you die early in the fight and don't release, you'll get the achievement at the end.

I don't see any1 mentioning but if you WONT get this if the strike hits your pet.

This is false.

I went today with a 10 man group and we deliberately had three players dying for the sake of this achievement - me being one of those three. So while the rest were killing off Sartharion, I tabbed out and noticed this comment. Naturally I tabbed back in and started scanning through my combat log and I found out that my pet (I play a warlock) had actually been hit. I did however still get the achievement in the end all the same. Phew...

Thus; your pet being hit by a Lava Strike will not cost you this achievement.

After spending one raid observing those "volcanic bomb",
I find out a few things...

Those bomb are come from the "wind" on the lava, which will blow you away when you go touch them
The "wind" will throw bombs only when it become bigger(ie. become active)
However, when Sarth's health hit 10%, those "winds" will become active all at once

These things are only observed from one single raid and may not be entirely true,
especially the 10% health part*cough*

Hope someone can help me to clarify these

This achievement did not receive any (hot)fixes with 3.0.8 (unlike a lot of other achievements throughout many instances). You are still able to obtain it even if you are willingly killing yourself at the beginning.
Did it today because it was the last in my list and I've been extremely afraid of it being patched. It would have taken me another week to do it again.
Maybe this will help players in my situation.

lol i started out dying because the healers "forgot" to heal me. I still got it. So no worries. If you want it then plan with the raid that you suicide if you won't have any worries about avoiding it :)

Got it today the 'hard' way (surviving from 100-0%) as a rogue in the second week where I was aiming for the achievement:

1. /console cameradistancemaxfactor 5
2. Zoom out and put your camera angle to a near vertical level
3. Engage Sartharion with all three drakes dead (obviously)
4. Position yourself at the opposite site of your raid around Sarth where no other raid members will bug you (the other raid members will have to deal with killing the adds, but at least you aren't dead ;))
Here comes the important part:
5. always watch the sky and try to anticipate the spot where the little meteor will drop and never stay in the same spot for more than 3 seconds (you can alternate between two locations).
It can be quite challenging to dodge a meteor which you only saw 2 secons ago, but if you killed Sartharion with x drakes alive you are used to far worse stuff^^ It was easier for me to guess the drop location, when I looked at my char from above, but if you have problems with it, you can always put your camera angle the normal way.
When the raid comes together for dodging the lava waves, just look for free spots at the far back.
6. (this ruined the achievement for me in my first try, because I simply forgot it) when Sartharion drops his adds around 10% you have a real meteor shower for maybe 5 seconds. Try to move further away from him and only concentrate on dodging these things in this short phase and return to your old position afterwards while still looking out for meteors and nuke the last 10%.

I got this achievement due to pure luck, and yes I lived the entire fight. I'm not trying to brag, just wanted to say that it's possible.

have yet to get this because of tanking and not being able to move much, got it easily on 25 though... it has nothing to do the with the flame wall as already stated. its luck and being mobile that will get you this.

I got this last night during a Sarth kill while MTing him. Didn't try to do anything special, didn't even think about it, just killed him as we always do and I received the achievement at the end. It was a bit of an "Oh right. Okay then." moment. I was the only one in the raid to receive it. Not the first time I've heard of the Sarth MT receiving this achievement with no effort, either.

Is a lava strike same as a The firewall who arise when The lava begins to churn ? Becouse when i did OS10 yesterday i didn't get hit by a firewall, and i didnt get a achiviement

If you get hit by Lava Strike on a previous attempt, it doesn't affect you getting the achievement on the kill attempt.

People were failing in our raid tonight, and so we wiped twice on Sartharion before killing... him? her? The first attempt I suicided to try and get the achievement, but we wiped. We were doing 2 drakes and people were failing so the second attempt I actually played and got hit by a Lava Strike, and we still wiped because people were still failing. So we killed another drake and cheesed it with only one drake up, and I suicided again and got the achievement on the kill.

I am a Tank.

How exactly am I supposed to get this achievement as a Tank when i can't really Move much to avoid the bombs.

I also can't really DIE at begining of the fight to get it as i'm needed more than anyone else during the fight.

I have a problem with that achievement. I am a DK DPS. Ive done Sartharion several times, and I never get hit by lava (when you get hit by it you are sent flying, amirite? So I never fly) and I still dont have that achievement :c. Really dont know why.

For those of you tracking this with Recount or something similar under Damage Taken, it is registered as Fire Cyclone

This achievement can be done by staying in the lava for the whole fight. You do not have to die. The Lava Strikes will disappear when they hit the lava. So, if you are completely submerged you will not have to worry. I'm pretty sure the fire walls will not hit you either, but I cannot confirm this.

Things to watch out for: the tornadoes which will fling you across the map, and if you are too far away, he will shoot something that looks very similar to lava strike, which gives you a debuff increasing fire damage taken significantly. At first, I thought that I was in fact being hit with lava strikes, but decided to still stay in the lava, and got the achievement.

Those three died by pulling Sartharion together, with the raid standing on the side while they died.

As long as people don't take the lavawave, it's no problem what so ever. This was meant to be a guildrun, but we had to bring 5 randoms who didn't do much but take damage.

Best setup for this would probably be 2 protection warriors, holy paladin and ranged dps. Hunters are prefered for removing enrage from the adds.

This can probably be 4-manned. Meaning that you can have 6 people doing the achievement at a time.

As a healer I got this, not even paying attention/trying, simply by standing on the edge closest to the portal right next to the tank on the corner. Well, not RIGHT next to him, as that would get you cleaved, but far enough to the side to be right behind Sarth's elbows. The only time I moved was slightly for the fire walls and to the tank when I caught an add.

I don't know if it was dumb luck or if that edge/spot is too far to the side to get the Lava Strikes falling on it. If someone else can try and confirm that would be awesome.

Another way to get it is to die in the start of the fight. That way i got it (as the only one) together with the 1 drake achievement.

As of 6.0.2 as a blood death knight with an iLvl of only 478 you can kill all 3 drakes and pull sartharion outside of his island and keep moving around in a large circle to get this achievement. I did this on 25 man, but i assume its the same for 10 man.
