Well, not sure if I'm the only one that this is currently bugged for, then. My fish are resetting every time I log out. I had fished up 20 fish (just shy of the first 25 fish achievement), then logged out and when I came back, the tracking bar said I had caught 0/25 fish.

I'm assuming that this isn't how this achievement is supposed to work....

Note that you have to -loot- the fish to make it count, you can't just open the loot window and then close it again like you can when levelling fishing.

I am currently on about 480 fish atm looking for Old Ironjaw. I hope to god he appears before the "1000 Fish" achievement completes..

What better way to spend an afternoon..

Should be easily completed in the course of completing the other fishing achievements. I am at 350+ fish and I am still working on Old Crafty, Old Ironjaw and Mr. Pinchy. This is an achievement that completes itself.

If you don't get credit for the fishes you've fished after you exited wow I would suggest logging out instead and let the 20 seconds pass, this way you get credit.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I was tracking this achievement and was at 532/1000, when I fished from a Bloodsail wreckage in Stranglethorn Vale and caught 3 Stranglekelp (as a batch not individually) it went up to 535/1000.

Just got this last night as a side achievement from Old Ironjaw and halfway through old crafty ;3

I did this achievement while still in the low 200s, am now 370 with nearly 2000 fish caught. I've caught Ironjaw and Mr. Pinchy in that time.

I get a skill up roughly every 8-10 fish. Depending on the area.

I fish when my girffriend calls me over the phone. She will detect when I am trying to play WoW, because apparently I am too much distracted, but fishing is boring enough to go undetectable by her!

Given the frequency and the length of her calls, I welcome the addition of a "10000" fish achievement.

There is definitely something bugged with this. I've been tracking the achievement. I logged out last night at around 276/1000 fish caught (Got the 250 achievement). When I logged in this morning, it shows I've only got 244. Grrr.

I only recently purchased the fishing skill and started leveling it. I hit 277 fishing skill when I was awarded the 1000 Fish achievement.

Total time with a fishing pole in my hand is 7h50m (that includes standing around time, flying to a new spot time, etc - so subtract almost an hour and let's call it an even 7hours).

Will see how many fish you gotta catch and how much time to get to 450.

Edit: I just got to 450 fishing today (2/22/2009). Total time with a fishing pole in my hand was 18h25m. I tried to make sure I removed the pole when I wasn't actively doing fishing. Can probably take away an hour and a half or 2 hours off that time due to 'standing around time'. Probably looking at 16.5 to 17h of fishing to get from 1 to 450.

Total fish caught according to fishing buddy was 2,803. (Most of the places I fished at I had lures or was way overskilled for, so there wern't many getaways)

This would be awesome if it was a continuous achievement. Meaning that it continued to inctease the #'s needed to achieve it. So after this it would be 5K fish and then 10K and so on.

To clarify what counts as a fish and what does not, the whole system was changed in 3.0.3 according to a post by Tigole a while back. Please disregard all previous comments on the matter.

Tigole <Blizzard>:

The way this is currently working on the live realms is that it counts as a fish if it falls under the "Trade Good" category with a "Meat" sub-category. Unfortunately, this leaves out a lot of fish.

In patch 3.0.3 *anything* that is caught via the fishing profession will count towards the criteria. In patch 3.1.0 the wording on the achievement gets changed to "Fish up 25 items" rather than "Catch 25 fish".

Hope this clears things up.

This gives 10 achievement points but the achievement crest shows it as 60 achievement points... any ideas? did it start out as 60 but they changed it to 10 and forgot to amend the crest?

The most potentially rewarding way I've found to do this is to fly to Scholazar Basin to the River's Heart. Fish the Nettlefish pools, and not only do you get the Nettlefish, but Pygmy Suckerfish as well, which does in fact count towards the achivement. It gets even better if you have the quest for the Ghostfish as that's yet another shot at a fish per cast. Throw in the fact that it's mostly deserted these days, and that you have a shot at the sexy turtle mount, and I find that this is indeed the most potentially rewarding way to get 1000 fish in the most painless way possible.

Catching 2 fish with 古代熊貓人的釣魚符咒 activated still only counts as 1 towards this achievement.

When fishing in Margoss' Retreat in Dalaran for 沉沒法力 catching the mana/various fish can net you 1-2 mana and an additional fish which DOES count all 1-3 caught towards this achievement despite numerous previous comments related to the 古代熊貓人的釣魚符咒 claiming that it did not work for it at the time.

If you're aiming for this achievement and doesn't want to fish that much, you can go to Dalaran Sewers (Legion) and fish 盲目之眼 in the green pools. You fish around 5-8 盲目之眼 per cast, and these count as 5-8 fish, which cuts down the fishing by a lot. Of course, there are dozens of fishing activies in the game, if you want to get other achievements, just fish, you'll hit 1000 in no time.

If you are just looking to get this achievement fast, fish sightless eyes in Legion Dalaran sewers. Each eye counts as a fish and you get 5-9 per cast. You can do this in between farming rares for the ratstallion achievement, and I also think it makes the shark rare spawn faster.

By far the FASTEST way to earn this achievement is to fish in the Legion Dalaran sewer pools for Sightless Eyes while farming the 地下老大 Achievement in the Shimmering Whorl fishing pools. You'll get up to around 9 Sightless Eyes per cast, and each of those count as a fish. I earned the 1000 fish achieve in very little time. Hope this helps!
