Aku'Mai is a beast, although the website still has her in the NPC section as Uncategorized. Also, when you kill her, if you are Allaince, a dwarf will spawn that will teleport you to Darnassus, the Altar still buffs Blessing of the Blackfathom, but does not teleport you to Darnassus nor does it teleport you to the entrance.

Aku'mai appears in a room along with several elite turtles. It is possible to pull these turtles seperately from the big hydra, but it will require waiting for her to patrol away from them.

Aku'mai is an uncomplicated though certainly dangerous boss. She hits like a truck hitting you with another, sharper truck. Even properly geared tanks will take very high damage from her, but if you have the healing and armor required to keep the tank alive Aku'mai is not extremely difficult. If you do not, there is not much you can do about it.

Aku'mai IS, oddly for a boss, vulnerable to both snares and fear. As PvE enemies are not subject to dimishing returns, this seems she can be kited quite easily, and if your group contains a Warlock (s)he can constantly keep her feared so as to reduce her damage output to zero. This is very helpful if your group is not strong enough to beat her in a straight fight.

Ya to get to him kill the guy in the room with the statue, clear the room and then go light one of the candle things on the statue base. You'll do 4 rounds after killing the 4th the doors at the end of the room open. Theres a few turtles and then Aku'mai.

He has a crapton of hitpoitns by the way.

Yeah, Horde dont see any panda, only the alter that teleports you into the swimming pool ^^

Is there any quest that involves killing Aku'Mai? I mean, there's some quests before him but to kill the big end boss, there's always a quest for that in the other instances...

Aku'mai is *not* immune to stunning (is this some sort of oversight?) - I was able to stun him with Hammer of Justice. This may help if you have party members capable of stunning him but seem to be running into trouble beating him.

alright, Aku'mai is a pain.... he didnt do much damage to the party i was in (3 hunters, counting me... lvls 36, 34(me), and 26, and 1 pally.... 32) but it took a while to defeat... when we looted him we got the Strike of the Hydra and the dagger, Doomspike... then when i got to the Altar and right clicked and opened it... i didnt get transported to beginning... from what i remember of the dagger...

l've seen no panda and the altar gives a buff:Blessing of Blackfathom:+4Intellect,+4Spirit and +15 Frost spell Damage...

hey does any one know how many of those #$%^ing crabs appears after lighting 1 candle? I died because i didnt know about them. i solo'd the whole place up until them as a L40 pally. I was gonna kill aku'mai and when i lit two candles i noticed 20 billion crabs walking my way. how many come per candle?

Okay, first off, Aku'Mai is NOT immune to stun. I 3-man'ed him earlier and the rogue in the group was able to gouge and cheap shot it. Second, for us horde guys, we could find no place to summon a guy to teleport us out, we had to hearth. Third, you DO NOT have to kill aku'mai and the turtles at the same time. You can pull the turtles one by one and then face aku'mai alone.

He did have an assload of health, but his damage was total crap. Against me (a 30 shaman with a shield) with the stoneskin totem out, he was only hitting me for about 40, so with a priest in the group all I had to do was continuously Earth Shock him to maintain agro while the priest renewed and occasionally healed me.

Has anyoen ever got the Green Armor drop Hawkeye's Helm....I am really interested in this drop and Aku'mai is a source for it....wondering if it is lost cause trying to quest for this item.

after reading how hard it is to get that 2 handed sword i simply thought i should go check it out. I am a 60 druid and guess what dropped after the first kill :D

Aku'mai is not only vulnerable to stuns, she is also susceptible to fear! A single warlock of close enough level can keep her continuously feared while his pet and DOTs are eating away at her health bar.

It's probably the most effective way to kill her.

we lit all 4 andles at once lol we got all 4 rounds if u do this u will die regulary but we had a 26 warrior and a 55 warrior so we were fine. and the aku dropped the pants which kinda suck for warriors

I just solo'd this earlier today as a 41 Rogue, and it didn't take much more then breaking a few cooldowns. To make sure I didn't have to deal with the adds of the turtles I picked them off while Aku'mai was wandering back and forth. Then, basically keep it stunned as much as possible, because it was doing around 145 or so damage a hit to me. Halfway through, I popped Evasion then near the end it got me down pretty low on health so I blinded it and bandaged, then killed it off. It probably wouldn't hurt to bring a potion just in case.

i did this and it was quite a trip. halfway through half our people left, and we finally got to akumai and the GODAMN LOCK rolled need and won the friggin sword. wtf

it took me 4 times to kill aku'mai and then all 3 times it was the pants then the last thing you kno outta 14% chance to drop Strike of the hydra dropped and a warlock teased me with it im a 28 warrior

soloed this as a 26 priest

just start with a mind blast then go on a pain and then fear or if you are shadow use mind flay after pain and then fear.

when it is feared run as hell towards the opposite direction and wait for CD on scream. you should have enough mana regen to never run out of it. keep doing the same thing over and over again running to each corner of the room until its dead.

only $%^&ty thing is if it resist fear then you are as good as dead. so i recommend a ranged slowing class aswell like a shaman or hunter make sure you have the aggro at all times.

i'm a 26 paladin too so lvl 28 elite, that gonna be hard, i can take care of the naga there alone is he any harder?

My level 37 rogue soloed him/her. First I just ambushed for about 700 then Sinister Strike and Ghostly Strike until I got 5 combo points then I used my Rupture because I felt it was way more effective and continued at the same pace. I have 1930HP and as I hit about 1200HP I used my Shield I got from Pvp battles to absorb about 200 damage; then after my Shield left (which only takes a couple of seconds) I used my Evasion to avoid his 150 to 200 damage the dragon does to me. Once Evasion left I used Preparation to get my Evasion back and killed the beast. Dropped Moss Cinch right after.

Quie easy, anygroup with exp between lvl 23-28 should find him not to hard.

Light the four candle at the base of the statue after killing Kelris and ALL the enemies in the room. Make sure you're rested between each candle you light, considering all the enemies that appear.

Upon lighting one candle, two of Aku'Mai's Servants will appear, so you need to kill them before lighting any more candles.

Lighting the second candle releases four Barbed Crustacean, all hostile.

Lighting the third candle, four Murkshallow Softshell monsters will appear on either side of you, a total of eight. But they don't have much HP and die easy. You can't loot these after they are dead.

For the last candle, three Aku'Mai Snapjaw, two on one side and one on the other. The enemies didn't appear right away for me when I lit the first candle, but I don't know if it'll be the same for you.

After you kill all these enemies summoned from lighting the candles, the door to Aku'Mai will open.

ok is it because its after the new Zul'Aman patch or something but im a 48 enhance tauren shaman, and i was running my friend through this place. when we got to this hydra guy i basicly owned him, about 2 stormstrikes and a earthshock and he was flat out dead. is it from the new patch or is it because lvl 20-40s r the 1s calling it hard.

All the low level instance got nw blues and lower lvels due to the ZA patch, so ofcoarse this guy is now diferent..he still could hve been lowered.

It says up there that his type isn't specified. I'm not sure if it says in the tooltip, but he shows up on my beast tracking.

I killed it twice, it dropped Leech pants, and strike of the hydra. It has roughly 9,000 health but doesnt have any minions or anything else near it

As Morbazan says he shows on Beast Tracking.We took him down and and he was on my tracking and end of it he was also skinnable dropping a Medium Leather..

In my opinion this is the worst instance for me anyway, but the mobs are pretty decent even though most are easy including this guy however its not a good instance for me i can make more money running through Deadmines that i can from this.

He is a hydra...just like the ones outside you cannot tame him.

To open the doors, you "use" the four candles and fight a wave of monsters for each candle. After defeating the fourth wave, the door opens.

Don't "use" all the candles at once like someone did in a group I went with. I can forgive his poor judgement and curiosity to see what the candles do, but the rest of my party had some choice expletives for him at the time.

Akamai is pretty easy from the point of view that it doesn't have any special abilities to watch out for, just a big, bad mob to carve up.

just wanted to say...

i'm a lvl 62 hunter and i tried to take my priest guildie through - got to the last boss and we lit all 4 torches at once and i got about 20 lvl 23 eltites at the same time!

so... light one torch at a time - fight the mob and then go

i just thought i had to light the 4 to open the door!

Not tame-able. Skinnable, however. Drops 3 REALLY nice Items for their lvls. I could solo him at about lvl 40 on my Rogue. Not easy, Had to use Evasion, and a Mageweave BandAid. But I did it. He's a beotch.

When you are in the Sanctum, kill everybody and Twilight lord Kelris. Than light the 4 Fires of Akumai one by one. They will spawn:
first: 4 elite turtles
second: 2 elite elementals
third: a lot of non-elite lobsters that die really easily
fourth: 4 elite crabs.
When you killed them all, a door will open to Akumai's Lair. There will be turtles and him, wandering near an Autel of Dephts.

How do you get into that back room where he is? I went through and soloed with my 44 hunter. I killed that mage dude but couldn't figure out how to open that door. I tried right and left clicking. Do you need a key or a rogue to picklock it?

After I killed the room of mobs and Twilight Lord Kelris, since I was never in BFD before I clicked on each candle and was wiped out. When I rezzed, I tried something different. I aggroed the sandsurfers and snapjaws and went out of the room into the water. only the snapjaws came after me and i killed them. I went back into the room, and easily killed the sandsurfers. Then I aggroed the elementals and more sandsurfers, dived into the water, and only the elementals came after me and i killed them, went back into the room, and killed the rest of the sandcrawlers. And behold, the door to Akumai opened! He was a pretty easy kill for my 43 shammy, and he dropped strike of the hydra. Anyone else that made the mistake in lighting all of the candles just do what I did above and it might probably work :)

I ran the dungeon and found this. We tried once but got killed. The second try we killed it and my party members luckily let me have the Moss Cinch. We killed it with a 29 priest, 28 warlock, and a 24 hunter (me). When both my party members died, it attacked me and it hit three 300s on me and I was dead in a snap of the fingers. The Strike of the Hydra looks pretty nice also, wouldn't mind getting that than the belt...

Lv 35 Pally on Blackdragon Flight Server. Solo'd entire zone last night 4/18/2007. Took about 1-2hrs to finish - also did all side bosses along the way. Tips for other Paladins looking to do the same, use Blessing of Salvation to pass up 80% of the fights, pull away from groups, crusader&exorcise the demons, judgement of justice any runners (bosses are best dealt with SoJustice). Besides that keep healed, and hope luck is on your side. It might take a while, but as in my case, it's definately possible.

I love reading posts about oh I soloed this yesterday at this level and blah blah blah, they're always so complicated.
I've ran guildies through here a few times, I'm a level 33 hunter, and all I do is kill %&^$. No strategy or anythin', I just kill everything, and I have no problems whatsoever, I've never gone below 1/2 health.
Maybe it's a hunter thing.
