I suspect that the drop rate is the % chance of getting silk if anything at all drops. I'm not sure that wowhead's data collection deals well with mobs not dropping anything.

Because when I farmed for a bit, I almost always got either a silk, or nothing. More often nothing. I can easily believe that 80% of the drops were silk.

Currently farming in the BM instance and i get 1 Netherweb Spider Silk every 3 kills or so

This stuff sells for 8-10g per spider silk on my server. It's well worth my time at the moment to farm the trash in BM to get it, I need about 30 more of it to get tailoring to 375.

That's 300g, or 2 hours of farming in BM. Hmm.. Tough decision. (Screw the AH, I'm farming them.)

You probably get like 3-5 per clear of BM. The drop rate is definitely less than 30% though. About an hour or so of farming gave me 10 silks though.

BM is still best place to farm Netherweb spider silk.
i have tried it in Terokar forest and in BM and in BM if you get any drop it's more then 50% chance it will be the silk.

so if you need it and dont want to spend 5+ gold per silk BM is the place!

I think droprate isn't accurate when a mob doesn't drop anything sometimes.
When these spider drops something, it's 80% chance to drop a silk.

I received 8 Netherweb Spidersilk from clearing all the Blackfang Tarantulas (approximately 30) in Black Morass.
Took about 30mins to clear as feral druid, picking up a few extra adds.
That puts the drop rate at about 25%.

The droprate on these spiders need to be reset! 2.1.x patch drastically lowered the droprate along with the ammount of leather coming from the skinnables inside.

I tried this the other day.. Farmed alone (JUst killed the spiders) got about 80% droprate. Must have been lucky. GOt about 20-22 of em. So PRETTY high droprate.

Just to note, you have to clear Old Hillsbrad before you can even enter BM... something I found out tonight.

about drop rate. in over 200 kills of the terokkar spiders i have had a 17% drop rate. from clearing black morass 3 times (99 spiders) my drop rate has been 30%. they are not hard to farm for me and with the portal to CoT from shatt i will continue to farm these spiders for my netherweb spider silk needs. got 20 silk in the first hour (knew from poisons running out :P) which is way more than i would have gotten in terokkar.

I got about 12 Silk after clearing the spiders and some crocolisk. Ide say it's worth it, since the things sell at 10g a piece to tailors.

They are used from 360-375 in tailoring (About 30 webs)

So does this mob have to be farmed on HEROIC or NONHEROIC for a better drop rate?

Cuz I just farmed 3 in heroic, got 1 on the first one, and no more on the other two. then like the whole instance chased me out of heroic. lol

I tried using the Chrono-Bacon *Lol I call it bacon* and it didn't work which made me very upset ;(. So farmers I suggest not trying it either in dire situations lol.

If you're just looking for a few silk to complete an item for yourself, just run along the mountains at the perimeter of the instance, first one side, then the other. There are more crocs than anything in the more central, waterlogged parts of the zone. If you're hardcore farming I suppose you'd kill everything to get the most from your 5 instances / hour, but honestly there are much better things to farm for selling.

The DR is no longer 39% or whatever thottbot says. I just killed 12, and not only didn't get any netherweb spider silk, but did not recieve ANY kind of loot.

Better off just to farm for other items and buy the silk.

I was about to agree that they don't drop the silk, and then the next one i killed dropped it. The next 2 did also, so maybe its just a matter of waiting it out.

These may be the most obnoxious things to farm and not only do they not drop very much silk, more often than not, they drop absolutely nothing. These guys are a waste of time - Go to Terrokar.

Best place is right outside of the ally base in Terrokar. They are the Dreadfang Widows, they spawn really quick and there aren't any other mobs to deal with. Except the elite spider that surprises you sometimes =]

PS: I farmed there for about 30 minutes and got about 10 netherweb spider silk.

Blizz must have nerfed the droprate for Netherweb Spider Silk in The Black Morass.
Had aprox. 5-6%.

Kill 50 of these spiders and get 50 Netherweb Spider Silk thats 25gold or AH for probalay 200-600gold

Yeah, I get about 25% drop rate for the silk from these guys (24% to be exact), with about 100 kills, so my stats are pretty reliable. Not only do they have near 10000 hp and capable of doing serious damage, but there are many stealthed cats around that like to eat casters. In about 50 minutes I gathered 10. Not a bad haul if I can sell 'em for 6 gold each, but it's a boring and deadly place to farm :(

Killed about 20 or so spiders outside Allerian Stronghold netting 1 silk. Went to CoT and got a 100% drop rate till about 5. Then I killed 20 with a ZERO drop. Exited, reset instance, went back in and got a ZERO drop rate. I'd call this nerfed.

46% of the spiders that drop drop silk is what allak reports so no drop doesnt report. however it seemed more like 100 to me on those that actually droped something

these spider aren't outside of Allerian Stronghold. Lol.....read....there in COT2 instance. The ones outside of Allerian have a 7% drop rate or something dumb like that. duh :p

Went to kill these for their netherweb spider silk and on the first drop I got a "Design: Teardrop Living Ruby" (rare) :D
Silk droprate doesn't apear as 47% to me though :'( I killed 15 mobs, got 1 silk and the rare on the first drop, the other 14: nothing.
