I was at the Hunters Camp in Stranglethorn Vale and the merchant there had the plans for cheap money.. It was certainly under 1G. I bought thinking eh why not. Had no idea that it was required for quests at 40. Currently I have made about 5 of them and making CRAZY MONEY! HAHAHA. I am only a lvl 37!

I followed Coilleach advise and went to Hunters Camp at 36.11 in STV and the merchant there sells the plans for 44S.

If it isn't the female vendor in the Port Authority it's the Goblin Master Blacksmith above her.

You have to make the Moonsteel Broadswords, Massive Iron Axes, and Heavy Mithril Axe before you can get the plans for the Big Black Mace (Goblin Blacksmith in Booty Bay, Stranglethorn Vale) anyway.

I had to wait for about 10-15 minutes for it to appear.

So you want to be a weapon smith...here's the clear scoop:

1. Massive Iron Axe recipe is obtained from Jaquilina Dramet in the Nesingway Expedition Camp in Stranglethornvale (aka "STV"; northern part; away from booty). She keeps only 1 copy so if it's sold, you will have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for it to re-appear. Check the Auction House (AH) if you can't wait and have about 2G's to spend.

2. You will also have to learn the recipe of "Big Black Mace" from the Master Blacksmith Trainer in Booty Bay (Stranglethornvale). The trainer is above the armorsmith (2nd level). You need to have 230xp as a Blacksmith to train and about 1.5G's.

The vendor in Nesingwary's Camp sold me this plan today. I understand the axes will now be part of a quest for Cenarian Hold, so I assume the prices will be going up. Slow but powerful axe, better with an Iron Counterweight.
