A reference to the well-known "Chronicles of Amber" fantasy series by Roger Zelazny, in which "Amber" is the true reality, of which all other dimensions are mere shadows. The blood of the descendants of the creator of Amber had special properties. "Blood of Amber" is also the name of the seventh book in the series.

On a side note, this is not the first reference to the "Chronicles of Amber" series in a Blizzard game; in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the cheat code used to enable the use of other cheats was "Corwin of Amber", who was the main character in the first half of the series.

Socketing a BoP gem in a BoE item will cause it to be soulbound.

Tagged as Unique-Equipped, does this mean that only one of these type of gems can be used per item, or per full inventory set? To explain better... is it only possible to put these gems in 1 per item, or can you only use 1 gem in 1 item at any time?

Unique equppied means, you can wear one of this gem at all times. You can have more socketed, provided you dont wear those items at the same time. Like for a PVP and a PVE set.

This is a slight complaint, although I do like what blizzard has done giving JC's a good BoP item, the only problem is, its so small compared to a few other professions, While this is 3spell crit higher than even the PVP gem, and the spell dmg one is 2 dmg higher than the pvp one, or if yuow ant to compare to common ones, With this and the 14 spell dmg one, you would gain 5dmg and 4 spell crit over the best rare gems. Compare this to say enchanting, which gets 24 spell dmg for its BoP recipes, or the insane tailoring recipes. IMO it seems these should be a limited quantity unique, say 3-4 of each, OR they need to also add more BoP ones similar to the Instance drops, i.e. a spell hit+dmg etc.

(same goes obviously for melee stats, and tank stat gems)

These gems might seem like only a minor boost. But bear in mind, unlike the perks offered by Tailoring, Smithing, etc, there are no upgrades to these gems, and they'll continue giving you an extra edge long after people have replaced their Leatherworking BoPs and so forth with raid gear.

Given that each role has two gems for them: Sta/Def for tanks, AP/Crit for melee, Dmg/Crit for casters, and Heal/Crit for healers (although ideally extra gems are needed to cater for non-crit reliant healers and DoT-focused classes), they're similar upgrades to the enchanters' ring enchants.

There are rumors this gem is bugged similarly to the melee crit BoP gem, and it is not providing full spell crit as stated. Can anyone confirm?
