Needed for alchemists to specialize in Elixirs. And such a outrageous requirement. The Black Morass isn't known for its easiness, and the essences isn't even a guaranteed drop. This should scare most alchemists into going for Master of Transmutation, which is a lot easier as you can do it without going into any instance.

Edit: Above comment isn't really valid anymore seeing as things have become a lot easier over the years.

It is indeed needed for Alchemists to specialize into Elixir's, however I do not agree with it being an outrageous requirement what-so-ever. Get yourself a group with 1 healer, 1 rank, and 3 DPS. No real crowd control is needed (sap, sheep, seduce, ect) its just all out DPS!

I had a guild group which consisted of me (Paladin), Mage, Enhancement Shaman, Rogue and Feral Druid. It was extremely easy, with me never going OOM as the solo healer.

I got 6 in my first run, 3 in my second, and completed it on the first Rift Lord on the 3rd run. In all, just over 2 hours.

It was my first time running Black Morass today and it seemed really easy:
2 feral druids dps (me and another guildy)
warrior
mage
priest
We managed to kill the elites and adds before another elite spawned on the next portal and it went pretty smoothly, with a druid picking up the healing when our priest got sheeped.

However, I only got 5 drops on the first run (we only got to the 2nd boss before Spinebreaker shut down - the instance was reset when we were able to load back on so that was rly only half an instance). I had 4 drop on the second run so I still need to go back to get that last drop =*(

The Black Morass is easy.. but c'mon. I've run it four times now and I'm only at 7.

One thing to note, though, is if there's another Alchemist who needs them, the items don't drop for both people, and only one person can see them per drop, even if one person is attempting to pass them off to another.

Abysmal drop rate on these, all things considered. I got 2 on my first run, made me want to give up then, especially since I had no other reason to run BM. You'll need patience, and probably 3 runs of BM on average, to get this done.

Shaman Resto (me)
Warr Tank
Warr Dps
Lock
Pala DPS

First run: 7 Crystals (Very Good)
Second run: 0 (Bad)
Third run: 0 (Very Bad)
Forth run: 1 Crystal (Idiotic)
I just unplugged my computer and went to cut my veins!

extremely bad drop rate! I have 4 in about 25 rift portal kills - as hard as this is to complete, this quest is stupid - alchemist be warned!

In 2 runs I've gotten 5--18 Rift Lords, and only 2-3 drop the Essence at a time when you have the quest. The other Alchemist masteries aren't quite this annoying--Potions only have to kill Freywinn in Botanica and loot the book off him. Transmuters make a few Primal Mights, the most annoying part of that being to gather the motes to transmute or simply buy them.

Expect to run BM a couple times, at least 4 with this. On the plus side, you'll get loads of Rep.

I found the droprate to be quite reasonable, it's definitely more than 5% as posted on this site. Of course you will only see the drop if you have the quest, so maybe that's why they have the droprate ridiculously low. I got them about 30% of the time, it didnt take too many runs.

And for those of you wondering how often Elixir Mastery procs, I've had it for about a week now and I estimate an extra potion 15-20% of the time.

You have to keep in mind that the listed drop percentage most likely takes into consideration ALL kills, even when the person looting wasn't on the quest. All quest items are like this and you will most likely enjoy a much better drop rate than that listed.

i ran BM 2 days ago and only got 4 i think it was b/c i was dpsing the adds and when the miny boss died i didnt see him. so make sure that when a boss goes down to loot him even the miny bosses. it is possible to do it in 1 run but most likely 2 would do the trick.

The dropp chance of these is still awful in TBCC. Out of two runs, I got 6 essences in total (three per run). Note that I was the only one doing this quest, so expect 2-4 runs to get all 10.

Insane quest. I got 7 in 2 runs. In the actual phase of game, 1 month before WotLK this quest is a an insult.
Ill abandon the quest, go for transmute master, then switch at a price of 4 mights and 150 G.
