Why the hell would you use the one from hellfire over this?
Maybe chestpeice of A'dal would be better for ret but this is a sexy peice of armor

This chestpiece has been changed in 2.4:
Items intended for Retribution Paladins have had their stats adjusted. Retribution Paladins should see an increase in dps as a result.

In my personal opinion, this particular change (in fact, most of their changes) weren't particularly well thought out.
This piece used to be quite decent for all 3 paladin specs; as solo piece for holy/prot and still some decent benefits to ret if you were that way inclined.
However this piece is now relatively useless to all three specs, considering that Blackened Chestpiece is a reward from the same quest!
Here's hoping it gets changed back.

They did this to a lot of gear and, as a non-ret pally, its kindof a drag.

Though debatable whether or not this is a true upgrade, this was probably the only piece a Holy Paladin could use to bridge the 10 levels between Gilded Crimson (HFP quest you can do as early as 58) and Many Graces (68 from Slabs). I know, prior to 2.4, by the mid-60s (you can get this as early as 65 AFAIK) the Stam and Armor on this were more important to me than a few extra points of healing/spell damage on Gilded Crimson.

every paladin needs plus spell damage to even out threre gear im ret and some ppl think im stupid for getting +spell damage gear but i cast spells as main melee so it makes sense that i get spell damage this is a good chest piece for every damn paladin

Agreed with Invader. I'm prot spec and + spell dmg, and that helps me keep aggro when I use Judgement ^-^

This piece is my choice for soloing/farming on my Holy Paladin. If you're stacking spell damage and mp5, it's the first and only upgrade to the Gilded Crimson Chestplate from Hellfire Peninsula:

I just now got this the other day after our Gruul group whiped and a few of us went to do this quest (that everyone had sitting in the quest log for 6 months). Agreed, it is excellent for holy pallies for farming and dailies; the +spell dam and intel is more beneficial than the mele perks from my Kings Breastplate. If I were to go back to Ret, I think I'd switch back to the Kings, though.
Although, given the choice, I would rather have the BG scaled chest to match the other few pieces of BG gear I already have.

guess whats gay? How blizzard took out more gear that holy paladins found usefull for solo purposes so ret could have more gear that sucks for them! They already can get fury/arms warrior gear which is far superior... thx blizzard!
