This is in my honest opinion, the best paladin healing shield in the game. Bar none. Assuming of course, you have illumination.

21 Spell crit is about 1% spell crit at 70.

Each time you crit as a healadin, you get your mana back, and can attempt to crit another heal, with your refunded mana. You also achieve 150% healing when you crit.

So overall, thats a really nice shield. The lowish armor, and absence of sta is a shame, but for pure heal boting, you won't find better anywhere else

Just thought I'd throw in my own 2 cents, since one of my lvls 70s is a healadin. 20 spell crit rating < 1% crit. With the new illumination nerf, 1% crit = 0.5% improved mana efficiency. Also 0.5% increased average heal size. So while the crit has an impact, it is not huge.

The amount of +healing required to make a similar difference, assuming an average flash heal size of 1000, would be about 12.

Throw in some mp5 for additional benefit. In a 5 minute battle, the 8 mp5 on tryptich will yield 480 mana. On a good raiding pally with 10k mana and 150 mp5, this would equal about a 4% increase to total healing, assuming the constant spamming of flash of light from full mana to zero.

And yes, healadins do get aggro sometimes. Adds spontaneously pop in many fights which tend to rush the healers. This also happens in 5 man situations when low on CC. Extra armor/block/health is extremely helpful in those situations. So, while these aren't things you try hard to stack, there is certainly validity in mentioning them.

Well this is just a reply to an old post i made a while ago, to further explain what i said.

This used to be the best shield in the game for spell-crit paladins, back when a crit heal was 100% free.

Crit heals are better then plain +healing or mp/5 because the crits acted recursively, and the more you stacked, the faster the effect grew. It was an exponential return per point invested.

Lets say you had 50% spell crit, and you added another 5% from somewhere
The return on that spellcrit is 10% recursive.
You had a 50% chance to 'lose' your mana, and you reduced it by 10% because unlike armour, crits aren't diminished

Then there was the 41pt holy talent, that reduced the cost of your spells by 50%. So when you crit and gained a 100% refund, you had a net gain of 50% mana.

I've been in the arena burned all my abilities and trinkets at 50% mana, and 15 seconds later i was at 85% mana because of a few crits (which at 35% crit rate, was to be expected)

Spell crit was an incredibly powerful build at the time, if you could get your spell crit to 35%, you would start having trouble going OOM even if you tried.
It was no surprise to me when blizzard nerfed illumination, as anyone who saw me chain back to back full rank healing crits for 50k healing in 14 seconds, and gain 30% mana doing it knew i was pushing the system in ways it wasn't intended to.

Now people have also called into question my statement that if i was pulling aggro, i was doing something wrong.
Let me point out something, although the paladin does have a lower threat then the other classes with their healing spells, the fact remains that i was criting spells left right and center, this has the effect of generating mana. Generating mana generates threat on a 1:1 basis, making my crit heals the most aggro intensive heals in the game

You can disbelieve me when i say threat was a concern with that build, because a few crits on a multiple pull, would usually have any loosely aggroed mobs running to me. AoE tanking however has consideribly improved since then, so again, its a non-issue, not that it could be since illumation builds are weak and unused.

This post is a reference to an now outdated, and back then, overpowered talent that has been suitably nerfed.

If you are a Tankadin, I think the Netherwing Defender's Shield may be the better one to pursue.

found the shield when farming for cobra scales! One of the snakes dropped the shield and a cabra scale. That being the last cobra i was going to kill... nice ending of a grind evening!

I will sell it at AH for something between 75-95g

DPS-wise this is the best aviable shield for elemental shammy until you can afford to buy the heroic badge reward one (which you probably will be keeping until next expansion)
