I'm putting Potent Noble Topaz and Dazzling Talasite into all my Netherstrike, this is the best way to get the most out of the slots and keep the socket bonus.

I've also seen some people just stack +spell damage (Runed Living Ruby), I prefer the former.
You could also go for Radiant Talasite, I find the 20 penetration to cloak enchant is more than enough.

An interesting point is that if you had already crafted and socketed pre 2.1, you get to keep both bonuses... I had already done my bracers, so now they have +spell damage and +agility... just a novelty really.

I don't think I would do leatherworking just to get this chest or even the set at this point in time.

Grinding out the arena points is alot easier, less time consuming than leveling leatherworking, and it allows you the opportunity to pick another more useful profession.

I hear alot of people complaining that leveling leatherworking is a pain. I didn't find it that bad (and I'm not exalted with Sha'tar nor Keepers of time), and while gaining arena points (next week I have enough for gloves), I have leveled leatherworking and made the bracers and belt. So by combining methods of getting gear, I can gear up quicker. I don't regret leveling leatherwork for this imba set.

I think its odd that blizz wants you to farm 36 primal air for a set meant for a spec that can't kill air elementals. As elemental shaman it is almost impossible, and it takes ages to farm primal air.
- Yes, i know you can farm other primals, sell em and buy primal air. But it would be so much easier if blizz changed it. Leveling lw was hard enough pre 2.3 or whatever patch it was.

It took me a few months to get my set as my mainspec is resto, so i had to spec enhancement to farm mats for my offspec gear. Meh, i couldn't be arsed, so i ended up farming primal air as resto, whenever i had time.

Which stat is most important to stack depends on your purpose. Here is some math to help you determine for yourself.

In terms of dps:

The relative value of 1 spell dmg = (1 + x/y)(z), where x = crit %, y = 1 (if crit = dmg x2) or 2 (if crit = dmg x 1.5), and z = % of spell dmg received. So, the value of 1 spell dmg, at 40% crit and double dmg, receiving 100% of spell dmg as benefit, is 1.4. At 25% crit, it would be 1.25.

The relative value of 1 crit rating = x/22y, where x = avg dmg per cast, and y = 100 (if crits double damage) or 200 (if crits = dmg x 1.5) So, the value of 1 crit rating at 1500 avg damage, with the double damage talent, is 0.68, about half as valuable as 1 spell dmg.

As far as dps goes, +spell dmg is clearly the winner. With spells that get less benefit per spell dmg, such as shocks, crit rating has an edge as your avg dmg per cast reaches around 1k. However, shocks comprise a relatively low percentage of spells cast.

Now, in situations where mana efficiency is the issue, crit is the thing to stack. Without going into all the detailed equations (they are a bit over my head at this time, I'll have to check back later) the more crit you have, the more benefit you get per crit, in terms of mana efficiency. This is because the overlapping of clearcasting states is more frequent at higher crit chances. But only to a point, and I believe based on some preliminary scrawlings that 40-45% nat crit chance is optimal for this purpose.

So, if mana efficiency without *extreme* sacrifice of dps is desired, then crit is the stat to stack. However, if dps/burst without regard to mana efficiency is desired, then spell dmg is more effective, unless you already possess an obscene amount of damage (think > 2k non-crit spells, which I don't believe to be achievable, since that's nearly what my 939 spell dmg mage does with AP + bloodgem + frostbolt -- nat is 1600ish).

Lastly, some degree of mana efficiency is derived from stacking spell dmg. Nothing to compare to stacking crit, though. To discover how much mana efficiency an amount of spell dmg would give, divide x/y, where y is the current avg dmg of your main spell, and x is what it would be with the extra +spell dmg. The result is in direct proportion to damage per mana.

This set is great for PvE. T5 quality gear that can be made before you even begin raiding, that's why it's worth all the effort.

I'm in the middle of making this set because I hate PvP/BGs and my guild is about to begin kara. I have the primal manas, primal nethers.. just farming the primal airs now.

Wowhead.com says this thing is getting a larger buff than what it says here. Solid increase to stamina, intellect, with smaller buffs goin to spell crit and dmg. Goign to be 34 stamina, 23 intellect i think.

I added 2 Soveriegn Nightseye's (+5 Dmg and +6 Stam) and a Brill Dawnstone (+8 Int). Same with the other set pieces as well (only Dawnstone in bracers).

My current build is 19-0-42. My mana pool unbuffed is just below 10k, stam at 7.3k and spell damage at 700. The bonus dmg and healing from Nature's Blessing is huge.

If you go Elemenatal spec, the int turns into MP5 while casting, so its really a pretty fair trade off. Either way, I dont think I would add MP5 gems to the chest. One method kills stuff faster (more damage) the other you last longer (mana regen).

Just to let you know. I was elemental all the way till the end game and change to Resto because I couldn't get into groups as elemental. I still have, use and acquire elemental gear because I do have to grind for gold, mats, daily quests, etc.

So you'll see that elemental gear is good for this. Sure I'm not getting the extra damage from crits with the talents and the like, but if I'm only grinding for an hour or two here and there, this works. If I'm gonna take a weekend to just grind, a respec back to elemental spec is just around the corner.

There is 3 branches in Leatherworking and all got a epic level 70 set.
Elemental Leatherworkers get Primal Intent (Primalstrike)
Tribals get Windhawk Armor (Windhawk)
But Dragonscale gets 2 sets, This (Netherstrike)
and Netherscale Armor (Ebon Netherscale)

So imo, LW is the best to go as Shaman now-a-days, since you "can" craft 2 epic sets, 1 for elemental, 1 for enhancement.

Problem: do you have time to grind the mats?

Like i got the drakfist hammer made on my rogue but it says requires the BS to weild it?

Why Primal Air? Air Elementals are NATURE IMMUNE :( For the love of god how the hell do they expect a nature dmg class to farm so many primal air?
Its a good thing I have a feral Druid to farm those or I'd never get this stuff made.

Thought i would have my little say, im elemental and im fully elemental and have no problem getting groups unless its being arranged by a noob that thinks that mages are needed to complete an instance. DPS wise im currently hitting crits or around 4k but doing it at 25% crit rate with another 6% in tallents and 3% on totem which totals 34% crit rate without external buffs, My lightning casts in 2 seconds and i can have upto 4 crits on the trott. Anyone wanting to do some maths will work out that i can hit in excess of 1000 dps this obviously drops when fighting mobs like gruul due to resists but i still reguarly manage 600 dps on this lvl mob. And for this im a noob as im totally elem but if you think about it elem is caster dps so no point spending points in enhancment and if i need to heal its only one or two heals to help the healers out then backto dps so no point wasting points and dps in resto.

If anyone needs advise on what gear to get etc im

The %^&*ty thing is that is is the most expensive set ever, and far much harder to get than the tailoring sets (With primal air stuff and the nether) + the lvl to make it is 375 for all 3 pieces, unlike many of other sets....Looks like blizz doesn't like elemental shammys.
