While it is true the Draenei Honor Guard Shield has roughly similar statistics as far as pure casting ability is concerned, this item is a significant boost in survivability for the user.

This, and the many items like it which seem like slight upgrades to the many blue's out their, will be very valuable when you start doing Gruul's Lair, and the tougher boss's in Karazhan, and other such boss's.

I've found that a great deal of these higher end boss's will kill you in one or two hits, with enough extra stamina, this can go to two or three hits, enough to allow you to survive, which makes all the difference.

Not a -huge- upgrade over Draenei Honor Guard Shield, but the Stamina bonus is nice. Better than Light-Bearer's Faith Shield for Holy Paladins because of the 20 spell crit rating. Trade-off for some healing and int.. but the crit definitely outweighs it if you have at least 21 Holy, and severely outweighs it if you have 41 Holy.

More armour, more stamina, more block. That's worth it, particularly for a Prot Paladin.

As an Elemental Shaman, I'd only recommend this if you have badges and nothing else to buy. The extra stam is nice and it looks cool, but defintely not something worth buying your first "Honor Badge" item with.

Not only is this the best shield for an elemental shaman but its the only Epic elemental shield Pre-2.1 so this is a great shield i now weild this shield and i would recommend it to any crit based shaman (elemental) or pally(holy+manawhores) not to mention it looks awesome... 50% of this game for me is looking badass so yah Peace

Kind of interesting that it shares a skin with the Dragonheart Flameshield from Nightbane, and the stats are near identical too, except that this has spell crit whereas the flameshield has mana per 5.

Of course, other classes, particularly pallies, can equip it, but I think the spell crit rating falls right under the ele category.

well, no. Depends on which heroics you are doin, ramparts takes about 1 hour but only gives 2 badges at the same time you can do Underbog ( done it in 57min ) and get 4 badges.

Mechanar is a good one to, 5 bagdes and farly easy. Got myself the dagger 50 badges :) saving more now for a trinket.

I wouldn't settle for the draeni honor shield. On top of the intellect, think of the difference of 600 armor. Trying to stay live in PvP can change based on 600 armor.

The gladiator's shield wall is really the best one for pvp, but I also like PVE so i won't thrive on arena to get it.

this shield is better then the dragonheart flame sheild by far for shaman. This shield has spell crit while the other has mana regain. 2 stats less isnt a significant difference

more crit means more cheaper casts for shaman, and more dps of course. While in raids u might be better off with 8mp5 in longer battles, i'd prefer to go with saving more mana from spell crits. It is not likely that my mana will run out in a 5-6 min battle and that +500 mana will only last me 1-2 lightning bolts anyway.

This won't be the best spell dmg shield when Patch 2.2 is released.

Arena will have both a Healer and Spell Dmg shield that will have tons of armor, resilence, stamina, and decent int.
