Wand Spec is only really justifiable when leveling, and you need to be 70 to get arena rewards. Factoring in talents is a bit moot when you can and SHOULD be doing more with spells then your wand. Even with that top end, it's still only 161.8 DPS. A mage would only need to be doing 485.4 damage fireballs (assuming 3 second fireballs), which isn't exactly that difficult by 70...

As a stat stick, well, it's the highest itemlevel wand in the game at the moment, and the only epic PvE wands found so far in TBC are arguably not as good (although close, and nice in that they're fast wands).

Wands being PvE tools, I find it interesting that they include it as part of the Arena rewards, but that just goes to show their committment to encourage all people to try the arena for a while. By offering different rewards more people will have a reason to compete in the arena thus generating some fun and interesting team combos. IT's good to have some people in there just playing for fun and not always overachieving statisticians.

The resiliance rating is a nice surprise on the wand, as most players could probably do with more of that stat.

i, being a priest, have found myself in multiple arena matches where im caught by a mages silence, and needed to use my wand, and this would be a nice suprise to pull out on a mage and hit them with it a few times. also, i would love to have a nice high damage wand for instances, since i save my mana for heals instead of casting my offensive spells.

Allow me to suggest that in terms of stats and plus damage, this is a fantastic wand, available at a very modest cost. Since for PVE players, especially mages, there is substantially better gear available (spellfire and spellstrike come to mind), this is well worth getting, even if the resilliance is a waste in most PVE endeavors.

Certainly not the best option if you want a full +spell dmg gear. But this can be obtained by really low effort and resilience is a must if you fancy your chances of getting an high rating in the arena.

Bought this for my warlock and it's fun to watch the 600 critical dmg shooting :)

Although it might be obvious: this wand does fire damage, and therefore can't be used to farm fire elementals.

Note that wands can be used during the GCD triggered by all other abilities, and "cast" significantly quicker than a 1.5 sec spell like Scorch. Wanding immediately after an instant like Fireblast is the quickest possible way to take off the last sliver of someone's life.

This wand could come in very handy if you're in a very long arena match. Just had one last almost 6-7 minutes where everyone left standing was mana dependent and were wanding each-other to death.

In arena I love this wand for when I get silenced, counterspelled, etc. Eat a healthstone and give em something to think about for a few seconds, then go back to heal botting. Also as a healing priest I have pitiful spell damage, so if I'm the only person left on my team against one enemy, wanding and healing myself is my best option.

If touch of defeat had some crit on it then yes it would be better. Even like 10crit. Nexus torch has almost .5% of crit there. Oh and they have the same item lvl 115 meh
