This item is actually basically the same as Tim's Trusty Helmet from a quest in Zangarmarsh (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25616), although that quest is alliance only. Not sure how it is for rogues, but as druids get 2 AP per point of strength, this initially gives the same amount of AP as Tim's Trusty Helmet. With feral talents increasing stats (Heart of the Wild, Survival of the Fittest), this one should actually be slightly better. But still not too much, I reckon.

-edit- Having equipped it, I noticed there doesn't seem to be any difference whatsoever. Still seems odd that there are two items with the exact same stats available to the same side.

Looking at this vs. the other quest reward, the Helm of Lupine Grace, from an Enhancement Shaman's POV.. They are identical as far as stats go. This helm would technically be better with Blessing of Kings up, but you should have much better gear by the time you are raiding anyway. It isn't a big deal prior to that. So, I definitely go with the mail version for the added armor mitigation.

Are there any other head pieces that look like this? I accidentally sold mine and by the time I noticed it was too late to recover. I really looked the look of it with my other feral gear.

Yes there are a number of helms with this graphic. You'll just have do do some searching. IIRC the Wolfs Head Helm and a drop off of the Big Bad Wolf in Kara have that graphic.

It could be worse, when a Dwarf wears it he looks like he's getting his head chewed on by something.
