I've heard a rumour that later on, a quest will be implemented (for Brood of Netherwing or some such faction) that will allow you to obtain a normal (not swift) Nether Drake, hope to see it soon! :)

I just got my epic flying mount today. It took a solid month of farming and gathering and I did have a few lucky drops that helped a lot. I did every quest I could and AH potions and transmutes, etc.

Point is, I would rather do all this work than encourage gold farmers, who I happen to detest.

And yes, 5200 gold in one shot was a lot, but it was worth it. This gryphon rocks big time, especially with a riding crop.

quite the contrary...i leveled 2 characters and did ALL the level 70 quests on both of them to be able to have enough money for my epic mount on one.

i know plenty of really dedicated people with flying mounts...it has nothing to do with buying an account or buying gold.

The normal flying mount is 60% on ground and in air, the swift flying and the normal nether drakes are 100% on ground and 280% in air, and the swift nether drakes are 310% faster and only available from having #1 arena team.

if u want ur 300 riding skill do like this:
Make Sha'tari skyguards daily qs every day.
Make every outland q u can. Start with shadowmoon then head over to netherstorm. When u have done all qs u should atleast have 2k gold or 3 depends when u got ur normal flying and epic ground mount.
U basicly start grinding those water elementals at skettis and make their daily qs up there(sell primal waters at ah).

if u get 100g/a day (which is very simple) u get ur mount in 50 days.
200g /a day =25 days
400g/a day =12-13 days

if u are a good grinder and get 400 a day. u get it very quick! In the start i got 500g/a day by questing. And a good tip is to make a bank char so u can't spend ur money if u see nice itemz in trade channel. Which makes it easier to keep ur cash!

Ehm, you can get 100g per day just by doing daily quests.

If you're patient enough, you can get 1000g per day easily, by farming primals. (25g per primal, so 40 primals per day. Not too hard) I started farming for the mount this wednesday and now I have around 4k gold. Hopefully I'll get it atleast the day after tomorrow.

The reason a druid might buy this is because swift flight form is not free or even close to it.

First, the druid must pay for the riding skill (that's the 5k gold). Then, the druid must follow a long quest chain, which some feel is more trouble than it is worth.

The regular flight form is cheap.

About to get it, 500g away from it (farmed all my golds the honest way).
What I did:
As I play a hunter I have skinning and leatherworking as professions. I simply do all 6 daily quests I can (Skettis and Blade's Edge) which earns me 6*12g (72g) every day, standard. Then, I fly to Scalewing Ledge (a bit east of Toshley's Station) and I start killing and looting the animals there. After 1 hour I got about 20-25 heavy knothide leather and 15-20 windscales. 20 heavy knothides sell for 75g at AH and the windscales go for 60g. Then I go to Skald, north of Evergrove and start killing, looting and skinning the basilisks for the Shunks and offcourse the leathers. 40 blackened basilisks (obtained by cooking the Shunks) give me around 24g.

I do this each day, let's do some counting:
* Daily quests: 72g
* 20 heavy knothides: 75g
* 20 windscales: 60g
* 40 blackened basilisks: 24g
* Vendor crap: 5-10g (depends a bit)
Grand total: 235-240g each day.

Taking 238g as a average, 5000g/238g : 21 days or 3 weeks to get that fast bird.

easy for rogues, just to the mech trick 5 times an hour. you get bout 100g for that. just do that 50 times and your done, easy

i really dont know what everyones problem is..im a frost mage..about 4 epics..bracers from kara merciless offhand grasp of the dead and shadoweave shoulders.. im averaging 500g a day just doing dailies then farming eclipse point for about 2 hours, getting all that cloth/money/signets/tomes..easy..i spend like 5 hours online a day and get 500g..no problem at all, farm blood elves in shadowmoon and do ALL dailies..those are my tips to you

if my money gains keep up..epic flyer here i come in 2 days..lol

LOl.............My friends are such ^&*!@#s. lol they saw that it cost 6k gold to get this thing, lol once they got to 70 like 7 months ago when bc came out.......... they bought gold and got banned. Its kinda common knowledge that when BC first came out they were going to be looking out for gold buyers considering all GMs were prob very aware the 6k gold would freak people into taking the easy way out.They each spent nearly 80 bucks worth of software and had to start over at one lol.................The most ironic thing was it took me like a week to do it farming the elementals in nagrand........................................
lesson learned guys, buying gold is not worth getting banned and having to start over again. Just spend the few weeks farming for it lol because the single most true saying in the world is,Anything on this planet worth having, is worth working hard for. like with my friends took them 4 months to get back to 70,..............took me a week to have this, and by the time they had just hit 70 i was epiced out in full gladiator, trikets, and was in the best pvp guild on the whole server of blades edge.Goes to show ya............gold buying is not only not a cool thing to do but has serious consequinses

I totally agree. My friends brother just got banned for buying gold---he lost everything. He was a hardcore nerd player and you wouldnt believe what he lost by just being lazy/greedy and buying gold. Two funny things about it:

He didnt get banned until almost two months after he had bought the gold. And, something the gold buyers did was used his account for all of the "buy gold/powerleveling" spam you see in-game and on the forums. So when you see a toon spamming for gold & powerleveling, they are actually USING THE ACCOUNT OF A GOLDBUYER.

Goldbuying & Powerleveling just arent worth it, AND it just makes the items in game cost more in the long run, as high prices are paid by goldbuyers the sellers think that is a normal price. Just like the post above said, in the time it will take him to just get back to level 70, we will be so stacked its likely he may never catch up again, even with him being a hardcore nerd player and us casual players. When it happened, he said he didnt deserve to get banned just suspended---we laughed at him. Goldbuyers suck, and deserve to lose everything, everytime.

very well put.... thats why from what i can tell blizzARD CUTS DOWN way more on gold buyers than powerlvlers.

the world of warcraft econimy is sorta like the united states econimy, very simple, suply and demand

if i go buy 10k gold than im going to spend it.
so people who do it honestly by farming ore/herbs have to lower thier prices so they gold buyers will buy thier product.
thus lowering the price of items which could shatter a whole servers econimy simply becouse thier is less money going around

if it doesnt happen like that than oviously farming areas will be soooooooooooooo over crowded with people farming so the goldbuyers will buy thier products, the game wont be fun any more.........youll have way to much outland pvp trying to control farming areas. and if your like my server where horde out numbers us 3/1 we simply cant do that.

this is why blizard is WAY more serious about gold buying than powerlvling

with powerlving you just get to skip lvls(very dishonest) but still it realy doesnt hurt other players

however gold buying can efect how expensive/cheap things are

I just got one of these swift red gryphon's they are extremely fast at 280% :D. There is one question i have to ask 'with riding crop does it increase your MOUNT speed by 10% as in like if you had a 60% mount when you add riding crop it will make your mount 66%? because that is 10% of 60% or is it 70% because it increases the speed by another additional 10%? on my swift red gryphon it goes 280% in air ofc but with riding crop would it go +10% so 290% or +28% because that is 10% of 280? so 290 or 308%?

I got my fast flying mount today. It felt a bit painful going from 5205g in the bank down to 5g but nevermind, earning more won't be hard, especially now i'll have less downtime flying. I saved up while I was levelling, didn't grind for money till i reached 70. I levelled 70 on the 20th december and had 1000g left after buying my slow flying mount. I then saved the other 4200g up between now and then. Although I've not been grinding all this time so it could have been done much quicker. (E.g. i spent 2 weeks only doing battlegrounds for my pvp S1 set during which i made no money). Basically I did it by following a few simple rules:

1.) Never ever equip something green or blue that you can sell unless your a level 67-70. You can get your own gear from quest rewards and equiping green/blue drops from level 1-66 is like buying a child prada clothes - they'll only grow out of it in a few weeks and wouldn't the money have been more useful in the long run?

2.) Always have the money to buy your mounts before you reach the level you can buy them at. This is crucial since mounts save downtime, increase levelling and cash generating. The only exception is the 5200g by level 70 since that would be very hard. But do make sure you have 800g by 70 for the slow flying mount.

3.) If you can make or grind something yourself, do it - dont buy it. The only exception to this rule is that at the higher levels, 65 upwards, sometimes its cheaper to grind something more profitable and then buy the mats to make something. Use your brain dont just blindly buy stuff.

4.) If you make something for yourself (e.g. blacksmiths, leatherworkers etc.) then where possible try to make 2 or 3 more to sell on the AH at the same time.

5.) On the AH always undercut, but do it by the smallest amount possible (unless the other items are unfairly/unreasonably overpriced obviously). This virtually garuntees your stuff will sell and reduces server deflation.

6.) When you first level up to 70, dont get enchants straight away! Your going to go through lots of different kit sets once you level 70 (first green, then blue, then basic purples, better purples, special +resist purples etc.) so for most of them enchants are a waste. Once you settle on something and you know you'll be wearing it for a long time to come, then get the enchants.

7.) Be sensible getting enchants to your kit at 70. E.g. there is a +40 sta +12 agi leg armour kit leatherworkers can make. It sells for about 350g on most servers. However, theres a similar kit with +30 sta and +10 agi that sells for 50g and doesn't use a primal nether. Is the extra +2 agi and +10sta really worth the extra 300g and a precious nether? - of course not, thats only really useful for lower level twinks exploting the kits.

8.) Once you get your fast flying mount you can be less careful with your gold, but until then you really need to keep a close eye. Try to never log out with less gold than when your started. This is an easy way to make sure that your constantly aquiring money, whatever the rate.

9.) Dont just grind one thing or one recipe. If you sell too much of one thing you'll deflate the AH value for the item. Good examples of this are thorium and heavy knothide leather which fluctuate massively depending on availability. Why farm for 2 hours to sell 2 stacks for 20g each, when you can farm 1 hour for 1 stack and sell it for 45g+.

10.) On that note, if the server is going through a period of heavy deflation like those which often occur over holiday periods (christmas is usually the worst) then just wait a few weeks. Sell your stuff in january when the servers economy has stabilised and fewer people are farming.

I'm level 69 with my priest(which is probably going to be my 2nd lvl70), i've already got around 4600g only by selling cloth, Ores i mined with mining and then i prospected them and got some rare gems and blue drops i get...probably while the time i'd hit 70 i would have enough money for epic flying mount.
