These boots have a 5 minute cooldown. They make your run for about 3 seconds at 300% speed, you can steer while you're being launched. After 3 seconds you will come to an emmidiate stop with knockdown, kinda like the old Unstobbable Force proc.

As for the practical minds among us, this will get you across 1/3rd of the Warsong Gulch field, I cannot confirm if you hold the flag on knockdown, but you should.

I was wondering if, like most of the other BC BoP recipes, this can only be seen by Engineers? Because, if so, then that may mean that the drop rate percentage is messed up (since it's based on a ratio of kills to how many times the item has been seen).

And, in that case, I'm curious if it might be a much higher drop rate.

After the 2.1 patch these boots will have a different animation, instead of a knock down effect you'll get blown upwards in mid air while spinning and take 200ish damage. This damage is a big buff since it break's CC if you time it right as you eat a trap/sheep/ etc.

Just so people don't freak out about the drop chance, this is one of the "oversights" made by a mod (and an unavoidable one at that.) These drops are only seen when there is a high level engineer in the group. And, engineers aren't horribly common. So, expect this to be more around the 20%+ range.

If you combine this item with the parachute cloak, you will remain moving at 300% speed while in the air. It can be very useful in wsg as you can zoom across the entire field nearly instantly, but beware when using this, there have been a few cases where people have been banned for "hacking" as the auto ban thing in wow reads you moving at 300% speed without a mount for more than X seconds.

dont believe these drop rates at these profession recipes..because they log all people's statistics and drop rate always seems low like that %0.2

The drop rate does vary depending on if you're in Normal or Heroic Steamvaults. According to World of Warcraft Armory http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=23887 the pattern has the following approximate drop rates:

Heroic: Medium (25% - 50%)
Normal: Very Low (3% - 14%)

I can attest to this, as I have run more than 15 Normal SV runs, and being a 375 Engineer I have yet to see these drop. Oh sure, everyone can have different actual streaks of good or bad luck . . but I'm inclined to believe Blizzard when they list different drop rates for an item based on dungeon difficulty.

I dont see the point of making this a Leather item...I have both a plate and cloth wearing engineer and it sucks that the 'weaker' of the two (the one is more likely to need it to escape) wont be able to use it.

But there is a Engineer review underway...so maybe they will come to their senses

I hope they make it cloth, leather weares already are able to run away or go very fas. (Rouges sprint, druid travel form) And if its cloth then good for them theyll still be able to use it it. And make it more universal, like instead of attack power make it spirit, or health regen.

Allakhazam does not account for the fact that the recipe is not seen by those who can not use the recipe. You can't trust the drop rate figures posted here for any crafting item. I can assure you, the actual drop rate is much higher.

I would disagree with the drop rate assessment. 20 SV runs and it has never dropped for me. I gave up on it.

It appears that these are only a visible drop to those players who have selected engineering as a professional. The rest of my party was not even aware it dropped until after i received it.

Finally, a reason to level engineering and not just sell off all my ore and bars from mining!

as the above poster said, this drop is only visible for engineers (and lootmasters, I would suppose).
so the overall dropchance is way higher than 1.2%. I would guess something like 20%. dropped 2 times in 5 runs so far... but that was prolly more than avg.

Dropped for me yesterday. I've only run SV 3 times total so that was nice. As others said, only engineers can even see this thing when it drops which is awesome (no ninjas).

Wish I could say the same for rogue armor.

these finally dropped for me after my 7th run!

they drop from the second boss of steamvaults
its about a 10% drop rate
these are only visable to engineers
