Void Crystal Farming
Professions Req. : Enchanter, Tailor (or friends with these)

If you need several of these (like for Mongoose https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=27984 ) and do not want to spend 62 gold per Void Crystal or ninja epic items to DE, then a good Tailoring alternative is to craft (or have a tailor friend craft) Soulcloth Gloves https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21863 for the soul purpose of disenchanting them for the Void Crystal. (They do not sell for enough to justify selling them and buying Voids on my server.)

Soulcloth Gloves require:
5 Bolts of Soulcloth (5 Bolts takes 30 Netherweave and 40 Soul Essences ) https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21844

According to www.wowhead.com/tbc's estimated Auction House buy out prices (which I calculated and listed above in brakets) the final cost would be about 75.8 gold to craft this, if you bought all of the mats.

HOWEVER: Netherweave is extremely easy to farm for or get from guildies; same with knothide; Soul Essences drop ALOT in Karazhan, and tailors are the only ones who can use them...most nice guildies are willing to give them to you for free or at a fraction of the AH price.
I would say the true cost of crafting the gloves is about 35-40 gold (buying about half the mats). Even cheaper if you farm mats and have a Karazhan raiding guild with good friends in it. If you have access to lots of Essences, its pretty much just a solo farming exercise.

After that, just DE them for a Void Crystal (and maybe even 2 Crystals). Repeat this little process untill you have as many as you need.

I'd just like to add that if you have the Soulcloth Shoulder's Pattern, you can get the same effect minus the Knothide. It's not much but it'll allow you to cut out a leatherworker if you're doing this from raw.

Regardless of the AH list price, with all the guilds clearing Kara and collecting trash purples like candy supply greatly exceeds demand on most realms with any kind of progression. Wowhead lists 25 uses for these: six rare enchants, void crystals, runed eternium rods, and 17 craftables only available to (and useful for) guilds in BT.

The other day I traded eight large prismatic shards for six void crystals, and only so I could have plenty on hand for when I actually do need them. Stockpile these for when more guilds have gotten to BT, and/or more uses for them become available.

Blizzard are increasing the amount of void crystals needed in certain enchants due to their current abundance. Average buyout on my server is around 30g.

i dont know why but this actually is cheaper than large prismatics and large prismatics are actually needed for cheaper enchants like savagery

In 2.4 Enchanters will be able to Transmute a Void Crystal into 2 Large Prismatic Shards once every 24 hours.

Well aren't you the little Nostradamus for the day.

You're pretty close, but it's actually going to be a part of Enchanting. Once every 24 hours, through Enchanting (not Alchemy) you'll be able to split a Void Crystal into two Large Prismatic Shards. This is through a new recipe that's being added in 2.4.

This helps reduce the exorbitant prices currently being seen for Large Prismatics, and helps raise the value of the Void Crystals. While this is the only change planned in 2.4 to help the Void Crystal prices, we're still looking at the possibility of additional 'help' for Void Crystal value in the future.

It is no longer cost effective to "manufacture" void crystals, they generally go for 20g a piece, whereas the two stacks of soul essence needed runs around 40g.

Got it from disenchanting through tailoring. Disenchanted Imbued Netherweave Tunic & got it. I put it in AH & it sold for 200g buyout after announcing that i put in. =)

These can come from disenchanting rare or greater quality items of an ilvl of 100+. They do not come from epics alone.

They seem to be a guaranteed disenchant from epics of the same level.

Raid leader disenchanted the crappy leather boots that dropped off the bat animal boss in servants quarters. Leather boots with only +76 arcain damage lol.

I love the WoW economy... since these can now be split (by enchanters) to 2 Large Prismatics with no cooldown, buying up a bunch of these on the cheap and reselling the shards gives you a nice profit.

I expected the price of shards to fall once you could split these but no... at least not on my server... Voids have gone up a bit but you still find people selling them for ~30g or less (giving ~10-15g profit per split).

Plus, if you want to make a ton of money... but up the cheap Voids and Large Prismatics before Season 4 comes out this week. Why? Because as soon as the new gear hits, there are going to be a ton of people with a ton of Arena / Honor points buying all the gear they can - all that new gear will need phat new enchants. Season 3 caused LPs to skyrocket to ~40-50g on my server for about a month after the patch...
