There are only 3 choices for your twink hunter, warrior, rouge if you want to get a blue ranged weapon before lvl 20 and this is probably the most expensive. https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=20438 is 15.2 dps and this is only 14.2 so its an entire dps higher and if you are going to make a twink you might as well pvp for a better ranged weapon instead of paying 20g at the ah or however it sells foron your server. Then also if you don't feel like paying for this blue gun you can also do WC until https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=6469 drops witch is 15.8 dps and thats even higher than the pvp bow. So, overall this gun, Lil Timmy's Peashooter, is really not worth it at all until your a completley lazy twink or if you are a low lvl hunter with alot of money.

I can amagine that most people want there own twink but they didnt have enough money! I can show how to make a twink who isnt very very expensive, but he is powerfull!
I make an example for a rogue twink :

Main-Hand - Cruel Barb or Stinging viper cuz theyre BoP and they wont cost ya anything! Enchanted with Striking.

Off-Hand - Cruel Barb, also enchanted with Striking.

Ranged - Venomsrike or Thick bronze darts.

Head - Green tinted goggles, if you dont wanna lvl ur engineering you can just use flying tiger goggles cuz the first lvls with engi are going mostly very quik!

Neck - Scouts/Sentinells medaillon.

Chest - Blackened defias armor or Tunic of westfall with 50 health its not so expensive.

Back - Glowing lizardscale cloak or Firebane cloak, it will cost ya 10-15g if u have patience, enchanted with 3 agi.

Feet - Bristlebark boots or Footpads of the fang, they are almost even good as feet of the lynx. Enchanted with 5 stam.

Legs - Leggings of the fang with a medium armor kit on it.

Shoulder - Talbar Mantle, if ur alliance it will be much easyer to get serpents shoulders or Bandits shoulders or sumfin else.

Waist - If you will do some WC you will have the mats for Deviate Scale Belt and u need to find someone who can make it and he cant ask more than 2g fee.

Wrist - Forest leather bracers enchanted with 7 stamina.

For rogue twinks the Throat Piercers are the best. Rogues don't usually use ranged weapons so adding stats instead of ranged DPS is a better choice IMO.

Note: Only hordes can buy them. So if you're alliance, try the neutral auctionhouse.

Haha. 15-20g you say? Well then I got extremely lucky. Got it on the auction house for 3g on my server (Twisting Nether) Horde side. I have a lvl 47 warrior that is an engineer so I was able to make some Crafted Heavy Shot for it. Serves me very well. Good damage, nice crits. Overall very nice gun for it's level.

There is one important thing none mentioned here for this gun! If you are playing hunter as a Dwarf you will have 1% ranged critical chance more using Lil Timmy's Peashooter comparing to Venomstrike. And in combination with Lethal shots (talent) it works very nice.

For those of you who don't understand, you can't really "farm" a random world drop. It could drop off of any monster within a certain level range, and the chance is extremely low.

I'm using this for my 10-19 WSG alt together with standard scope and crafted heavy shots (engineering, +2dps and +3,5dps) which ups the damage to a whopping 17.5 dps which means I consistently hit lowbies for 50-65 dmg and crits for upwards of 110.

This gun is insanely good. Got mine off AH for 4.5g. Usually sells for 3-5g

For those of you wondering, this is THE 10-19 WSG ranged weapon of choice. It has two main advantages over Venomstrike that allow it to dish out more damage.

1. +3 scope. This requires lvl 20 to use, but can be applied to any gun/bow with req lvl 15 or higher. Since this gun is BOE you can ship it to your main, apply the +3 scope with them, then ship it back.

2. Crafted Heavy Shot. Made with engineering, these add 4.5 dps to guns. This is the highest dps ammo available in this bracket, and there is no arrow equivelent. The highest availabe arrows add 3.5 dps.

This is the best twink ranged weapon eccept outrunners bow but u need a good rep and that takes ages at level19 ^^.
Id rather pay a lil money to get this gun then waste time doing WC,also it doesnt always drop and a hunter with this gun instead of venomstrike will certainly do more dmg in a BG with +3 scope n crafted bullets!

Why do you multiply the dps that comes from bullets by weapons speed?

Lemmy put that in units: Damage/second * second <- thats what you do. Yet you still get dps (damage/second). Wrong

The numbers that you get (11.something) are the actual numbers by which your hits are increased (w/o ap and stuff). Basically a slower weapon will get more damage per hit than a faster, but overall both weapons will recieve the same dps increase from the same type of ammo.

So here, timmay's final dps (with a scope on) is 15.4 + 4.5 = 19.9 (crafted), while venom's scoped dps is 17.1 + 3.5 = 20.6.

So the problem we have can be phrased like that:

19.9 + buying heavy stones from ah for ammo
or
20.6 + nature damage proc

Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

As I read through all comments, I saw nobody were doing some math on this bow vs other ranged twink weapons. I'll skip chit-chat and get to the point:

Venomstrike, 26-50 damage, 2.40 speed, 15.8 dps, 31-45 ND proc.

Outrunner's Bow, 25-48 damage, 2.40 speed, 15.2 dps.

Lil Timmy's Peashooter, 26-48, 2.60 speed, 14.2 dps.

It looks like Venomstrike is the best ranged weapon if we compare them this way. Outrunner's Bow and Venomstrike got same speed, so I'll already quit calculating on Outrunner's Bow, since Venomstrike got higher damage and its proc.

Now... Let us add a +3 scope, Accurate Scope, to each weapon.
It says requires level 20. This is item level. Not character level. Venomstrike and Lil Timmy's Peashooter has an item level above level 20.
Just keep in your mind that you need a level 20+ character to attach it to your range weapon in the non-trade slot.

Venomstrike, average damage 26+(3)+50(+3)/2=41, dps 41/2.4=17,083.

Lil Timmy's Peashooter, average damage 26(+3)+48(+3)/2=40, dps 40/2.6=15,385.

Let me guess. You probably think Venomstike is way better the Lil Timmy's Peashooter. Take a look on the next math:

Let us add Sharp Arrow to Venomstrikes dps. It says "Adds 3.5 damage per second". Venomstrike, dps 17.08333...+3.5=20.583dps.

Let us add Crafted Heavy Shot to Lil Timmy's Peashooter dps. It says "Adds 4.5 damage per second". Lil Timmy's Peashooter, dps 15.385+4.5=19.886.

As you see:
Venomstrike got 20.583 dps+proc.
Lil Timmy's Peashooter got 19.886 dps.

But compare this too:
Venomstrike deals 29-53+8.4 damage.
Lowest damage is 37.4+proc. Highest is 61.4+proc.
Lil Timmy's peashooter deals 29-51+11.7 damage.
Lowest damage is 40.7. Highest is 62.7.

The added damage is the ammo. 3.5 dps multiplied with 2.4 speed for Venomstrike and 4.5 dps multiplied 2.6 speed for Lil TImmy's Peashooter.

I would say Venomstrike win over Lil Timmy's Peashooter. My argue will be:
Venomstrike's dps vs Lil Timmy's Peashooter's dps is like:
20.583 dps+proc vs 19.886 dps
<=> proc vs -0.697.

I haven't done any calculation on Venomstrike's proc, but I guess it has more than 1.603 dps. On top of that, nature damage penetrates armor. You'll almost find no player with a decent nature resistance in 10-19 level bracket.

Ammo pouches/Quivers increase attack speed by 10% (you can actually got 11% pouch/quiver as Alliance) which will add more range attacks.
The quest is "The Night Watch". It's a level 30 quest in Duskwood.

The key is the nature damage.

No one has resist at 19, everyone has armor.

Count on about 20% - 25% of your physical damage being resisted.....

But the nature damage will deliver about 90% of the advertised damage. (there will be the rare partial resist).

Either is a good weapon for the 19 Twink to use..

Venomstrike has an edge in that its proc. will allmost allways hit for full damage.

Only the proc deals nature damage. As far as I know the proc rate is around 12%.
I think this counts for instant attacks too, so it's an edge as you said.

You can't count on 20%-25%. I figured out that smart Warriors and Paladins use shields against some classes to get some advantage. Useful against Rogues when they have full energy and Hunters who kites. Then they got 50%+ damage reduction.

Here is a table comparing statistics for the best bows and guns available for level 19 characters.

You will note that Venomstrike's damage in my table does not match the damage given by Thottbot or the in-game tooltip. That's because I have factored in the venom shot damage. In my testing, it procced 83 times out of 833 shots; therefore I am assuming its chance to proc is 10%. The average damage per proc is (31 + 45) / 2 = 38, so the additional damage per shot is 10% * 38 = 3.8, which, for the sake of simplicity, I have rounded to 4.

It is obvious that for most people, Venomstrike is the best available option, but what about Dwarves with their +5 to gun skill? Is Lil Timmy's Peashooter better for them?

Taking the formulae from WoWWiki and Zoroaster's weapon skill post, each point of weapon skill increases your chance to crit by 0.04% and decreases your chance to miss and your opponent's chance to dodge, block, and parry by the same amount. Therefore, +5 skill to guns increases crit chance by 0.2% and decreases miss, dodge, block, and parry chance by 0.2%. Without delving too deeply into the subject of attack tables, these benefits essentially increase gun damage by 1%. Using that result, the damage range for Lil Timmy's Peashooter goes from 29-51 to 29-52. That's not exactly earth-shaking, and it doesn't come anywhere near to Venomstrike.

On top of its straight damage advantage, Venomstrike's venom shot has a chance to proc on every shot, not just autoshot. This makes it by far the best in PvP, where autoshot is an afterthought for the most part. The bottom line is this: use Venomstrike.

I just got mine in the AH for 5g so I am pretty juiced about it. Still going to get the venomstrike. I think the drop rate is better. I have run VC 11 times now and had venomstrike drop 6 times and leggings of the fang 4 times. Now if I only had my twink following me when I ran through, was only 11 at the time, but now I'm high enough lvl. I go and farm scales for Deviate Scale Belts. Making them on Kilrogg 15g each, pst. Anyway, I like the peashooter but I like the chance to proc a little more.

This thing sucks. It's ok but really not that good. If you are a twink hunter then to be a really good twink hunter you need to get venomstrike. Consider this.... have less dps, and less speed for abour 22g. OR you can farm WC about 5 times and get the venomstrike with higher dps and faster speed, oh wait venomstrike also has a proc on it to do 30 extra DMG. Wow whoever thinks this Double Barrel nothing is better then Venomstrike you are retarded. Just compare stats and dps, and speed. Then if you want you can throw in the chance on hit proc too. This so called "twink" item is only for rich lazy idiots who obviously don't want a good twink.

Some say the Venom Strike is superior for twinks. I would agree if the twink were a hunter. The Venom Strike is faster and has a higher DPS. However for twinks other than hunters, I must insist that this is a better weapon. More often than not in the battlegrounds the only time rogues or warriors will be using ranged weapons is when their target is running away from or towards them. This gives the opportunity usually for only one shot. The harder hitting Peashooter may have just that little bit more which is necessary in that one shot to bring a fleeing opponent down, or give a charging opponent food for thought.

Lets assume your level 19 and you have a Medium Quiver or a Medium Shot Pouch, thats 10 slots 10% speed boost, and also lets assume the Venomstrike procs 10% of the time. One thing being left out of the equation for the Peashooter: If you are a Dwarf, you get +5 to Guns, which is a very nice increase in dmg on top of everything else. If you are Horde then I believe Troll's get a +5 to bows, so Venomstrike would be better for them.

Was questing in stonetalon, randomly invited a priest to my warlock/hunter multi-box with FFA loot for a quest.

Of course on the mob he loots, he pulls it, didn't even offer it to my poor poor hunter, very sad. Though I'm not making a twink anyways I guess.
