will show you how to get started in Alchemy in The Burning Crusade Classic, including information on the best paired professions, races, and classes, differences between the current retail expansion and TBC, finding profession trainers, and the basics of crafting items in Alchemy.
Alchemy in TBC Classic offers the ability to create potions, elixirs, flasks, and the new multi-use cauldrons, which distribute protection potions to your entire raid. New, improved Alchemy trinkets will make Alchemy even more attractive. What's more, Burning Crusade Classic introduces both Alchemy Masteries and the Discovery system for learning new recipes!
Leveling Alchemy in TBC Outland Alchemy Recipes
Why Choose Alchemy?
Alchemy is the art of distilling herbs and other ingredients into useful potions, elixirs, flasks, and the new cauldrons. It is also used to transmute raw gems into two diamonds used in Jewelcrafting and to convert the elemental Primals into other types (Primals are reagents used in many different profession recipes), similarly to how you convert elemental Essences from one type to another using Transmutation.
The new type of Alchemy product introduced in Burning Crusade Classic is the
cauldron
. There are five types of cauldrons—

. These provide up to 25 Major Protection potions corresponding to the type of cauldron, which makes them very useful for distributing protection potions to entire raids. Cauldron recipes are only learned through
Discovery
, a new mechanic also introduced in TBC.
TBC Alchemy's trinkets are a vast improvement over those available in Classic, although the best ones will likely be released in a much later content patch. Four Epic-quality Alchemist Stone recipes will become available through the Shattered Sun Offensive.
Making Gold with Alchemy in TBC Classic
Alchemy is a great profession for those wishing to make gold, particularly in TBC Classic, as that is when the Alchemy specialization quests are introduced.
Transmutes, such as Primal Might or Meta Gems, are a great way to make gold passively, particularly if you have multiple alt characters, as transmutes are capped by a daily cooldown. If you choose transmutation mastery, you can proc up to an extra 4 per day (or none).
Potions are another strong seller in TBC, though the biggest sellers do come with an expensive downside.

Best Profession to Pair with Alchemy
The natural pairing for Alchemy in TBC is still

. Everything except Transmutes will require various Outlands herbs. Alchemy can be expensive to level, and sometimes the supply of particular herbs can run very low, causing them to rise to unreasonably high prices. Best Race and Class to Learn Alchemy in TBC Classic
Tauren have the

racial ability, granting them a +15 bonus to Herbalism skill. Druids also make natural Herbalists, since they can pick herbs while in travel form. Rogues also make good Herbalists, as they are able to sneak past mobs and get to the nodes that other players would need to fight to get. This makes these natural Alchemists.
Alchemy is not tied to any particular armor type or skill set, and Alchemy has the potential to help any class or race.
Where to Learn Alchemy in The Burning Crusade Classic
Alchemy Trainers in TBC Classic can be found in Outlands, or each of the new Faction Capital Cities that were added in The Burning Crusade Classic. It is also worth noting that in TBC Classic, you can train Alchemy 1-300 at any Alchemy Trainer.

Alchemy Mastery Quests
Note
: Mastery quests were not introduced until the TBC 2.2 patch. We expect these will not be immediately available on release.
The Burning Crusade Classic introduces the Mastery quests, which allow you to become a Potion Master, Elixir Master, or Transmutation Master. A Potion Master can proc extra Potions when creating those items. Elixir Masters and proc extra Elixirs or Flasks, and Transmutation Masters can proc extra Transmuted items. Players must be at least level 68 to pick up the appropriate Mastery quest.
You can only choose one kind of Mastery at a time, though you can change your Mastery by paying the quest giver for their current Mastery , then talking to the quest giver for the new Mastery they want to have instead.

How to Craft Alchemy Items
Alchemy can almost always be done anywhere, as long as you have the necessary components. Unlike Classic, Alchemy potions, flasks, and elixirs only use one type of (vendor-purchased) vial:

Best Reputations for Alchemy in The Burning Crusade Classic
There is no one best reputation for Alchemy in The Burning Crusade Classic; all reputations except Aldor offer at least one Alchemy Recipe.
For Alchemists, only The Scryers have a recipe available, while The Aldors offer nothing. The below recipe can be purchased from

Should Alchemists Choose Aldor or Scryer?
Don't pick Scryer just because they are the only ones with an Alchemy recipe. Look at all the items that are offered by both The Aldor and The Scryers before you decide.
Note:
You don't actually have to declare for either, but it will limit some options and flight points later on. You can also switch sides through a lengthy, grindy process and obtain this recipe with The Scryers, then switch back to The Aldor if that makes more sense.

Learning Recipes through Discovery
The Burning Crusade introduced learning Alchemy recipes through
Discovery
, a process where a player has a small chance to learn a new recipe just by doing Alchemy crafts.
There are flask, potion, and Transmute recipes that are only learned through Discovery, and they may be learned by combining
any
TBC-era recipe—it doesn't have to be learned through doing Transmutes, or even the corresponding type (i.e., you can be combining potions and Discover a Transmute, or vice versa). You also don't have to be max level, have the Transmute mastery, get a skill-up off the combine, or be physically standing in Outlands to discover one of these Transmutes. It's totally random from combining any Burning Crusade Classic-era 300-375 recipe.
However, if you wish to discover the five new Cauldron recipes, these
do
require a specific combine. Each Cauldron can produce up to 25 specific Major Protection potions, and you can only discover the recipe by crafting that potion. For example, discovering the recipe for
極效暗影防護大鍋
can only happen by crafting
極效暗影防護藥水
. Four of these Major Protection potions are acquired as drops from specific mobs or zones.
Recipe: Major Nature Protection Potion
is gained with Exalted reputation with Cenarion Expedition. All require level 360 Alchemy to learn.

There should be an Alchemy Lab in Shattrath City in the Lower City (in the Arakkoa tower northwest of the Aldor bank, lower floor right next to the Alchemist trainer). I'm not sure if this was added in one of the 2.0.X patches or at the start of the expansion, but given the current understanding that 2.4.3 will be active at launch I'd be surprised if it wasn't there. So Scholomance shouldn't be an issue.

As of BC pre-patch, it looks like they've already added in the Guardian/Battle Elixir system that was introduced part way through BC's lifetime. This system limits a character's active elixirs to either one flask or one Guardian and one Battle elixir. Players moving from Classic Vanilla should be aware of the limitation.

I'm sorry but where did you see that mastery quests were not introduced until 2.2? I've found a couple of posts and patch notes that talk about mastery well before 2.2. There's a bullet point on the 2.1 patch notes about changing an elixir to correctly proc by an elixir master instead of a potion master. There is also a 2.0.3 beta patch notes stating that the elixir master quest had been added. I, also, see a post made on January 6, 2007 (3 days before TBC launch) that says, and I quote "
In addition, Alchemists can make a bind on pickup item (Alchemist's Stone) and
specialize in Potion, Transmutes, or Elixirs. Specializing gives a chance to make an extra item whenever that item is crafted
.

for leveling from skill level 340-360, the recipe listed in this guide to buy from a vendor is Superior Mana Potion; it should be Super Mana Potion, sold by Haalrun in Telredor in Zangarmarsh, or Daga Ramba in Blade's Edge Mountains for Horde

I am having a Horrible time with Alchemy in TBC, between not being able to get basic Herbs to never Discovering anything. very frustrating to say the least, That has been my experience though.

To change you talk to Lorokeem Master Alchemy Trainer, he's next to Alchmey lab behind Aldor bank.

Changing Alchemy Specializations is very simple.
Find the trainer where you learned your current specialization.
Potion Master: Lauranna Thar'well in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh (/way Zangarmarsh 80.2 64.2 Lauranna Thar'well, Potion Master)
Elixir Master: Lorokeem in Lower City, Shattrath (/way Shattrath 45.6 21.6 Lorokeem, Elixir Master)
Transmutation Master: Zarevhi in Stormspire, Netherstorm (/way Netherstorm 44.12 36.64 Zarevhi, Transmutation Master)
Pay 150g to unlearn it.
Now you can see any of the three specialization trainers and specialize without additional cost or questing.
