Welcome to Wowhead's Best in Slot Gear list from Phase 5 Sunwell Plateau for Demonology Warlock DPS in The Burning Crusade Classic. This guide will list the recommended gear for Demonology Warlock DPS to acquire while they progress during the fifth and final phase of The Burning Crusade Classic, which contains gear sourced from Sunwell Plateau, Zul'Aman, Black Temple, and Mount Hyjal, plus other pieces from previous phases like Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, heroic dungeons, arena PvP Gear, professions, BoE World Drops, and reputations.
Best In Slot Gear for Demonology Warlock DPS in Phase 5
When gearing, there is a multitude of different things to consider: different talent specializations, your currently equipped gear, and your raid composition all play a key part. Perhaps the biggest deciding factor of them all is hit rating - having too much or too little hit rating from either talents, gems, or buffs will result in you swapping in different pieces of gear or gems to reach the relevant hit cap. You can learn more about stat caps and priorities by visiting the Warlock Stat Priority Guide, but here are some important things to note:
The hit cap is determined by the level of the target, with level 73 raid bosses requiring +16% chance to hit, while level 70 trash requires only +3%. You should typically gear for bosses, but you may consider it worthwhile to have a specialized setup for clearing trash.
The amount of hit gems you use, such as

The time of

In the current phase, the items we use to get out the four-piece bonus switch around slightly.

are the three new Tier 6 items. Not only are they great ways to get our set bonus, but they are also BIS independent of the set bonus.
This means we only need one other piece from our previous Tier 6 options. On paper,

is the best option for this, but
邪惡戰衣頭環
is also really close. The best items used in combination with either are
黑暗咒術師頭帶
(in combination with T6 shoulders) or
召集者襯肩
(together with T6 helm). Alternatively, you can also opt to keep using your
邪惡戰衣護腿
and make use of both Amice of the Convoker and Dark Conjuror's Collar; the benefit is not needing
災禍護腿
, albeit at the cost of a bit of damage.
As Demonology, you can opt for the two-piece set bonus of
墮落者戰衣套裝
to greatly increase pet survivability. However, this does come at a significant DPS cost. For most encounters, this is not recommended.
黑龍之書
is a trinket with a unique use, especially for Demonology Warlocks. This trinket applies a buff to your demon of choice for 30 seconds, which stays up on your pet even after equipping another trinket. Before a boss fight, you can equip this trinket, buff your pet, and swap over to another trinket before entering combat again. Demonology Warlocks can also make great use of
虛無之星咒符
. It greatly increases the survivability of your pet. It does come at a significant DPS loss, so if you don't need it, don't use it.

Should Demonology Warlock DPS Choose Aldor or Scryer for BiS in TBC Classic Phase 5?
There is not a huge difference between Aldor and Scryers for Demonology Warlocks. You should most likely base this on personal preference, such as elevator type, location, profession trainers, tabard style, etc.
The Aldor has the better enchant, but there is a very small difference between the two;

破碎之日銳敏墜飾
is a special neck that changes proc based on faction alignment. This neck only became available in Phase 5, and there are stronger alternatives, so this is unlikely to affect your decision.
Ultimately, the Scryers provide more early gearing flexibility, while the Aldor provide a very slightly better shoulder enchant. Whatever your choice is, it is the right one.

Best in Slot Head Armor for Demonology Warlock in TBC Classic Phase 5
There are two predominant options when it comes to helm (and shoulder combinations). In theory,
Dark Conjuror's Collar
combined with
邪惡戰衣披肩
is slightly stronger compared to
Hood of the Malefic
plus

. In practice, the difference is negligible and won’t show up in your logs. The only other notable difference between the two combinations is a difference of 5 hit rating, which might be something to keep in mind based on the rest of your gear.
This phase also introduces an upgrade for the Engineering goggles, the
Annihilator Holo-Gogs
. They are roughly equal in strength to
Cowl of the Illidari High Lord
, but do not have any hit rating, opening up other gearing possibilities. It can be a really strong option going into Phase 5 until you get Dark Conjuror's Collar from Kil'jaeden.

This is where things get interesting. While
Sunfire Robe
is technically the best available stand-alone chest, it will be an expensive one as well. It requires Tailoring to craft, and the recipe drops from Sunwell Plateau trash. Most of this trash is commonly skipped. While the recipe is BoE and as such can be traded/sold on the Auction House, the craft itself is BoP. All this will result in a rather expensive chest that is ultimately not included in the best possible combination of gear, though it is incredibly close.
In theory,

Fel Conquerer Raiments
is slightly stronger than the combination of
Sunfire Robe
with

. However, note that both depend on specific professions and are rare trash drop recipes. Due to Enchanting generally being taken as one profession, you will either be a Tailor and craft Sunfire Robe, or a Jewelcrafting and craft Pendant of Sunfire.
Another honorable mention is
Robes of Ghostly Hatred
, which is a trade-in from the healer equivalent Robes of Faltered Light, and it should first go to them. All of these are notable upgrades over chests from previous phases.

is most likely the easier-to-get alternative as long as you have the funds to buy it, seeing as it is a crafted BoE. This leaves us with the third option,

. Equal in strength to Sunfire Handwraps, but locked behind turning in Handguards of the Dawn, which is a healer item in the first place.

. This is a slightly weaker setup, but depending on drop luck might be easier to obtain.
Leggings of Calamity
is the biggest upgrade, not only for your single-target DPS, but also notably for your AoE DPS, thanks to the high amount of haste and crit rating.
Pantaloons of Growing Strife
are strong too, but may be tricky to obtain as healers will be competing for the legs that are converted into these.
