Always create food & water before questing. This may seem obvious, but there's nothing worse than going to quest, running out of Mana, and spending ages crafting refreshments, drinking, crafting more, etc., until you finally have a full stack.

Take advantage of AoE opportunities. As a Mage, your area-of-effect damage potential is huge. With spells like Огненный столб, Конус холода, and Кольцо льда, taking down groups of monsters is an easy task.

Don't forget about Превращение - Polymorph is easily one of the best crowd control tools in the game. You can turn the tide of any fight very easily, and good use of it will make your leveling much smoother.

Use your cooldowns. Every Mage spec has cooldowns in its talent tree. Saving them for an emergency might seem like a good idea, but they have a few minutes of cooldown at most, so make sure to use them as often as possible!

Remember to visit the trainer. Throughout your whole journey from 1-70, you should always remember to visit your trainer! Increasing the rank of key spells like Ледяная стрела at 63, and Ледяное копье at 66 is vital for maximizing your leveling speed.

This has been helpful!

I would suggest adding a little realistic expectation to the staff options around 48-49. Glowing Brightwood Staff is rare enough that I'd suggest the 48+ option of using the Зажигательный посох off of Pyromancer Loregrain in BRD just for the little boost it provides over Zum'rah's, since the spirit addition is nice and while some spell damage is lost, crit is included that can effectively span the difference of losing the spell damage.

I offer this as I have failed to have a GBS show up on my server AH for anything realistically priced for a truly leveling character who isn't going to buy gold, and wanted a new staff cause it felt like it'd been ages since I upgraded.

I'm not really sure why the standard 10/0/51 frost spec is posted here as the best build for leveling? It's sacrificing talent points that could be used to make the build viable for AoE farming to get useless abilities such as winter's chill (how often are you going to get 5 stacks of ws on a mob while leveling?). No one is going to be parsing while leveling so it also isn't necessary to achieve maximum damage output. I'd much, much prefer a build such as this: https://tbc.wowhead.com/talent-calc/mage/230105031003--0534023013233010201541 that prioritizes versatility, and allows you to both do good damage in dungeons and while questing, and still allowing you to go AoE farm for a bit should you choose to.
