The drop rate for the oil isn't terrible, but it's not all that high, either. Sometimes the threshers are pretty deep, too, so a water breathing buff comes in handy. A cheap and easy way to get that is to do Recolha a carga! right before this quest. The Equipamento de Mergulho Consertado provided lasts an hour, which should be more than enough time to complete both quests.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

The oil drops from Young Murk Threshers under the docks and around the island at 72, 55ish. It seems to be a fairly low drop rate as I killed around 10 before receiving my first. They're very easy to pull to the surface if you have no water breathing apparatus.

Easy quest, just dive right in by the lighthouse and start killing your way to the docks and back.

This is quite possibly one of the most "perfect" quests out there. Why, you ask?

Well for one, the fact the oil has a low drop rate means you need to kill LOTS of mobs to get the quest items. (For me, it took 28 Young Murk Threshers to get all 4 oil.). Why is this great? Because everyone knows that the fastest way to get xp is to do a combination of questing and grinding -- preferably quests that require you to kill x number of items -- effectively combining the grind with a fat reward of xp at the end (3300 xp for me at level 33) after you've killed all of those said mobs needed. This quest's low drop rate isn't bad because you're gaining xp effectively while working towards a quest completion goal and final xp reward as well.

Next we have the fact that the Young Murk Threshers are plentiful within inches of the quest turn-in NPC. You'll want to hop in the water just at Babs' feet and swim down -- you can't miss them because they're everywhere! You may just want to be sure to bring an Underwater Breathing Potion or two with you since you should expect to spend time fairly deep underwater for awhile. Or just equip your handy dandy Hydrocane instead.

Then, as if it wasn't already sweet, the deal is even sweeter because the Young Murk Threshers are neutral/non-aggro. They're "yellow", so that means you can swim freely and not have to worry about watching your back while you're down there killing these babies left and right, because they won't aggro you and/or gang up on you when you least expect it. (Only exception to this part is if you're on a PvP realm and for some reason there are Horde swimming around. Also, be sure to watch for those elite sharks that swim up near the main Theramore docks, should you stray that far from the lighthouse island... you shouldn't need to.)

This quest is even better if you're a Skinner, too -- lots of mobs to kill means lots of mobs to skin, and these guys drop Heavy Leather with an occasional Thick Leather thrown in the mix. I don't know about you, but stacks of Heavy Leather or Thick Leather seem to be the most sought after on our realm, and coincidentally the kinds that there's the least of regularly stocked on the AH in bulk. So if you're a skinner, you're leveling your skinning and putting money in your pocket all at the same time. Whew!

And there you have it. Enjoy this quest -- I wish more were this efficient at leveling me! :)

as a 31 mage this quest was time consuming, was unlucky got 1 oil every 6 kills
and combined with spell resists i was back on shore after every kill drinking water. Then Tethyr showed up and i guess i aggroed with an aoe and he kills me in 2 hits

This quest is a realy easy one, just swim down to the bottom around this " lighthouse " then you can find some creatures that has " thresher " in it´s name , the drop rate isen´t the best I´ve seen . Have fun and swim safe !

Dive in the water next to the light house, and kill the mobs. WOSRT DROP RATE EVER! Had to kill 31 to get 4!

Once you have started the quest go into the water and swim to the bottom(Try and have something so you can breathe underwater),There are ALOT of threshers swimming around.Its a bad drop rate,It took me 7 - 10 kills to get all 4 thresher oils,But it could of been worse

I got all four in less than 10 kills. Much better drop rate than the quest for the Lightforge Ingots in Menethil...

lvl 35 Paladin, Alliance. Good drop rate just around the island (3/4). Very bad drop rate below the docs (1/7).

i seriously recomend fighting the ones around the lighthouse, the ones under the dock have TERRIBLE drop rates. The ones around the island are somewhat better ^x^

The quest's rewards are : 35 silver and 3300 XP :) and the drop rate isn't that bad. I killed about 10-15 mobs to get those 4 quest items :)

As others have said, bad drop rate. Seemed to be worse on re-spawns. The futher SE I went, the better it seemed, but YMMV. Took me about 45 minutes and about 50 kills to get my 4 oils. 3300XP for solo LVL 35 rogue.

i just needed to kill 7 threshers to get the 4 drops, maybe i was lucky, but the drop rate couldn't be to bad?

Very simple quest. Many Tresher around 71.50 (Theramore). Killed 7 Treshers, 4 drops.

Horrible drop rate. Killed 15, still nothing and half of 'm didn't drop anything. Easy to kill though... I'm LV31 Mage.

The Young Murk Threshers, all lvl 34-35 here, are all around the Lighthouse Island and under the docks. I jumped into the water close to quest giver to start killing these at .

Some form of water breathing pot will help you in this one, or, as a druid Aquatic form then cat form to attack etc. They are yellow named and non aggressive which make it even easier.

They die easily and drop rate for me was about 50%. They also drop Big Mouth Clam which in turn sometimes drop Zesty Clam Meat used in the Expert Cooking quest. Took me 3-4 minutes.

Seems poor, cause so many of them don't drop anything at all, but it only took me 8 of the 30 minute water breathing potion to get all 4.

Has the drop rate on these been nerfed? I've killed well over 20 of these threshers and have gotten a grand total of one oil.

The old log in the lighthouse indicates that the lamp was fueled with oil from the threshers that live along the coast here.

I suppose it's a practical, if inelegant solution. The log says that the oil taken from the youngest murk threshers works the best, and those live right underneath the docks of Theramore.

If you're up for it, would you help resupply the lighthouse with fuel?
