Getting one more PTR preview in before
the next build later today
! As we covered
last Thursday
, there are some transmog updates, notably a transmog set tab and achievements to encourage you to complete a full set! Here is a closer look at the transmog improvements:
New Transmog Set Tab
In the "Appearances" tab of the Collection Manager, there is a new option to sort by set. This keeps track of the following matching armor sets for your class:
All PvE Tier (1-19) and PvP Tier (Season 1-20)
Hellfire Citadel Raid Finder, Class Order Hall Set, Sunwell, Ahn'Qiraj, and Legion Invasion Armor
Versions of the Tier sets across difficulties (ie Normal, Heroic) and PvP type (Gladiator, Honor).
The UI has the following functionality:
List of tier sets on the left-hand side, with a tracker showing how many pieces you've collected in green text.
The center area shows your character dressed up in the full set.
Also in the center area you will see a row of icons indicating how many pieces you've collected, with the collected ones lit up. Mousing over them shows the names of all the items that share that appearance.
If a set has several versions, you can toggle between them, such as
Regalia of the Cleansing Flame (Normal Recolor)
Normal and
Regalia of the Cleansing Flame (Heroic Recolor)
Heroic.
Filtering options let you sort between PvE and PvP transmog sets, as well as Collected and Not Collected.
This system does
not
cover the following:
Matching gear sets from dungeons, questing, crafted armor, or classic world drops.
Replica tier gear that is another class' look. For example, a Mage would not see
Crimson Acolyte Regalia (10 Normal Lookalike)
in the Appearances tab as it resembles Priest Tier 10 Normal gear.
Alternate-color sets that resemble tier but do not have set bonuses for any class. For example
Judgement Armor (Recolor)
would not show up under any Death Knight, Paladin, or Warrior collections since that color is not used for actual Tier 2 armor.
We look forward to seeing the system develop - looks like it builds upon
Class Hall Armor Racks
as a way to encourage players to collect full sets.
New Collection Achievements
To go along with the new Transmog Set tab in Patch 7.2, there are new achievements to encourage you to collect a full set.
NEW
Collect a Season 16 Gladiator Set.
NEW
Collect a Season 19 or 20 Gladiator Set.
NEW
Collect a Tier 18 Armor Set from Hellfire Citadel.
NEW
Collect a Tier 19 Armor Set from the Nighthold.
New Ensembles
Throughout Legion we've seen various Ensembles and Arsenals added to the game; these unlock all appearances from a particular era at once. We've mainly seen them used for PvP styles, but also for old sets like
Indumentária: Armadura Enegrecida dos Défias
and
Indumentária: Escama da Cruzada Escarlate
.
This system has expanded in Patch 7.2 to incorporate even more PvP sets. Now you'll be able to get the following sets via Ensembles and Arsenals:
Season 1 Gladiator
Season 2 Merciless
Season 3 Vengeful
Season 4 Brutal
Season 5 Deadly, Hateful, Savage
Season 6 Furious
Season 7 Relentless
Season 8 Wrathful
Season 9 Vicious
Season 10 Ruthless
Season 11 Cataclysmic
We datamined elite PvP ensembles, but it looks like they will not make it to Patch 7.2. (blue post below)
The
Vindictive and Fearless Gladiator Sets
will also be available as Ensembles once Legion Season 3 starts.
Desvin
Honest question. What's so special about pvp elite gear that it needs to be kept from buying once it's severely outdated? Mythic/heroic gear in pve can be farmed usually 2 expansions after it happens. I don't know why pvp gear should be any different, but I might just not understand. I mean most players don't even know it's elite gear anyway, so it's not like it's being shown off for bragging rights.
Over the years, we've received a lot of requests to make the Elite sets from past seasons available. As you said, the PvE versions of these sets can be obtained through Legacy raids.
We're considering making
Elite transmog ensembles
available for purchase with Marks of Honor if your Current Rating in 2v2, 3v3 or RBGs is above some threshold (for illustrative purposes, let's say 2200). We would love to hear your thoughts about this idea.
I'd like to clarify one point: we totally hear that you'd like a rating restricted tabard and illusion back. We're adding a new tabard for Season 3 that will have a rating requirement. We're debating whether to add a new illusion however. Illusions do not work on artifact weapons and offering a reward that requires you to transmog your weapon feels problematic. But, we get that you really like the illusion. We may settle back on that idea or try to develop something else.
As for the elite sets, our motivation for doing this isn't to replace other reward systems. We've received a lot of requests to re-add these sets to the game somehow. We thought current rating and a marks of honor cost would be a reasonable gating mechanism for purchase. But the community's impression on prestige items like this is important. We appreciate all of your feedback on the idea. But we wanted to make it clear that adding these sets does not mean we won't be adding other rating rewards as well.
Thanks for the feedback. We have decided to not make these sets available.
Transmog Sets on Wowhead
Transmog Sets
on Wowhead cover all of the collections listed in the 7.2 tab and hundreds more for matching appearances from
dungeons
,
quests
, etc. While it's fun to collect matching sets, these should serve as guidelines for more creative things you can do!
On Wowhead pages for transmog sets, armor, and weapons, you'll find a "Transmogrified With" tab. This tab shows popular pairings for particular sets - useful if you want weapon or cloak suggestions for certain armor. The comments and screenshots are also great for inspiration.
You can put your own look together in Wowhead's
Dressing Room
. Import your own character and create custom sets for them! You can then save your appearance as an
Outfit
; we're up to 45,000 shared custom outfits. You can
browse the Outfit database
for inspiration or visit the "Outfit" tab on transmog set, weapon, and armor pages to see what outfits use a specific item.
